Overview

The SPM A330 Analog 9g Aircraft Servo P-SPMSA330 is a high-quality sub-micro servo designed specifically for RC aircraft enthusiasts. Manufactured by Spektrum, a brand trusted by RC hobbyists across the UK and beyond, this compact servo delivers reliable performance in a remarkably small package. Whether you're building a lightweight RC plane, a nimble aerobatic aircraft, or a micro-scale warbird, the A330 offers the precision control and durability you need to keep your aircraft flying smoothly through the skies.

This servo is engineered for pilots who demand excellent build quality and consistent performance without unnecessary bulk or weight. The 9g form factor makes it ideal for RC aircraft projects where space is at a premium and weight savings are critical to achieving optimal flight performance. The A330 is supplied in reversed configuration, making it ready to install in applications requiring reversed servo movement, saving you time during setup and integration into your RC model aircraft.

RC Model Shop stocks a comprehensive range of Spektrum aircraft servos and components for RC enthusiasts across the UK. Whether you're an experienced RC pilot looking to upgrade your current aircraft, or a newcomer to the world of radio-controlled aviation, the A330 Analog 9g Aircraft Servo represents an excellent choice for reliable, proven servo technology that has been tested and trusted by countless RC hobbyists.

Key Features

  • Analog Control Technology — This servo uses analog circuitry rather than digital processing, delivering straightforward, predictable servo response that has proven itself reliable in countless RC aircraft applications over many years, making it an ideal choice for both experienced builders and those new to RC aviation.
  • Ultra-Compact 9g Sub-Micro Design — Weighing just 9 grams, this servo is incredibly lightweight, allowing you to minimise the overall weight of your RC aircraft, which directly improves flight performance, extends flight time, and enhances manoeuvrability in the air.
  • Reversed Configuration — The servo comes factory-set in reversed mode, meaning the control horn movement is already reversed, so you don't need to reprogram or reconfigure it upon installation, saving valuable setup time and reducing the risk of control surface movement errors.
  • Universal Connector Type — The standard universal servo connector ensures compatibility with most RC aircraft radio systems and receivers available in the UK and globally, giving you flexibility in integrating this servo into your existing RC setup.
  • Plastic Gear Construction — The durable plastic gears are specifically engineered to balance strength with lightweight performance, providing smooth, quiet operation whilst maintaining the low weight essential for RC aircraft applications.
  • 21-Tooth Spline Count — The 21-tooth spline design is a proven standard in RC servo construction, ensuring reliable engagement with compatible control horns and linkage systems used in aircraft control setups.
  • Generous Wire Length — With 450mm (17.71 inches) of servo wire included, you have substantial length to route the servo safely throughout your RC aircraft fuselage, allowing for clean installation without the need for extension cables in most applications.
  • Bushing-Type Construction — The servo uses bushing mounts rather than ball bearings, which contributes to the lightweight design whilst still providing adequate support for the control loads encountered in typical RC aircraft flight.

Technical Performance

The SPM A330 Analog 9g Aircraft Servo represents tried-and-tested servo technology optimised specifically for the demands of RC aircraft. Its compact dimensions—measuring just 12mm in length, 20mm in width, and 23mm in height—make it one of the smallest servo options available, yet it delivers responsive control across the full range of RC airplane applications. The servo's plastic gear set is engineered to provide smooth operation and reliable performance without the added weight of metal gears, which is crucial when every fraction of a gram matters in RC aircraft design. The 450mm servo wire is long enough to accommodate most aircraft fuselage configurations, from sleek sport flyers to larger-scale models, allowing installers to route wires neatly and securely without requiring additional extension cables. The universal servo connector integrates seamlessly with the vast majority of RC radio systems and receivers available to UK enthusiasts, whether you're using a Spektrum radio, JR radio, Futaba system, or other popular RC transmitter brands. The bushing-type mechanical design provides adequate load-bearing capacity for the control surface movements experienced during normal flight operations whilst keeping overall servo weight to an absolute minimum. The analog control circuitry responds instantly to input signals, delivering the immediate, predictable servo response that many experienced RC pilots prefer, particularly for aerobatic flying where precise, lag-free control makes the difference between a perfect manoeuvre and a difficult recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an analog servo and how does it differ from a digital servo? — Analog servos like the A330 use traditional analogue circuitry to control servo movement, responding instantly to radio input signals without any processing delay. Digital servos use microprocessors to interpret signals, which can introduce minimal latency. Many experienced RC aircraft pilots prefer analog servos for their simplicity, predictable response, and proven reliability in the field. The A330's analog design is ideal for standard RC aircraft flying.
  • Is the A330 suitable for beginners and experienced RC pilots alike? — Yes, the A330 is an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced pilots. Its simple analog design requires no programming or complex setup, making it accessible to newcomers to RC aviation, whilst its reliability and proven performance make it equally valuable in the aircraft of seasoned RC enthusiasts across the UK.
  • What does reversed configuration mean, and why is it important? — Reversed configuration means the servo's control horn moves in the opposite direction compared to the standard setup. Some aircraft designs require certain control surfaces to move in the reverse direction to function correctly. The A330 comes factory-reversed, so if your application requires reversed servo movement, it's ready to install straight out of the box without any reconfiguration needed.
  • What makes the 21-tooth spline standard important for RC servos? — The 21-tooth spline is the industry-standard connection point between the servo output shaft and the control horn that directly drives your aircraft's control surfaces. This universal standard ensures the A330 is compatible with virtually all aftermarket control horns and linkage components available for RC aircraft, giving you maximum flexibility when building or modifying your model.
  • How does the 450mm wire length benefit my RC aircraft build? — The generous 450mm (17.71-inch) servo wire allows you to route the connection from your receiver to the servo across most aircraft fuselage designs without requiring extension cables. This simplifies installation, reduces the number of connectors in your system (which improves reliability), and gives you plenty of length to position the servo in the optimal location within your aircraft without running short.
  • Is this servo waterproof or weather-resistant? — The A330 is an analog servo designed for standard RC aircraft use. Whilst it functions reliably in typical flying conditions, it is not specifically rated as waterproof. If you plan to fly in heavy rain or near water, you should protect the servo with appropriate cover or waterproofing measures.
  • What type of aircraft is the A330 best suited for? — The A330 is ideal for lightweight RC aircraft of all types, including sport flyers, trainers, aerobatic planes, foamies, and scale models. Its 9-gram weight makes it particularly valuable for micro-scale aircraft, slow-flying models, and any application where minimising weight is essential to achieving the desired flight characteristics.
