Overview

The SPM Heavy-Duty Servo Extension 36 P-SPMA3006 from Spektrum is a premium servo extension cable designed for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and performance from their radio control equipment. Whether you're piloting a brushless RC car, flying an RC helicopter, or operating any RC model that requires extended servo connections, this heavy-duty extension delivers the connectivity you need with the quality Spektrum is renowned for. This isn't just any servo extension — it's engineered specifically for Spektrum's ecosystem, ensuring seamless compatibility and peak performance every single time you fly or drive.

Servo extensions are essential components in any serious RC hobbyist's toolkit, especially when working with RC models where servo placement requires longer cable runs. The SPM Heavy-Duty Servo Extension 36 represents a significant upgrade over standard servo leads, offering superior construction, better signal integrity, and the peace of mind that comes with using genuine Spektrum components. For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking for ready-to-use RC cars, helicopters, and other models, having quality servo extensions on hand is crucial for maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

The 36-inch length provides flexibility for most RC applications, whether you're working with a 1/10 scale RC buggy, a larger RC truck, or precision aircraft. The heavy-duty construction ensures this extension will withstand the vibration, heat, and electrical demands of modern brushless RC systems and high-performance servos, making it an investment that will serve your hobby for years to come.

Key Features

  • Gold-plated contacts — The connectors feature gold-plated contacts designed specifically for Spektrum receivers and servos, ensuring a rock-solid electrical connection every single time you power up your RC model, eliminating the risk of intermittent signal loss or servo chatter that can ruin your flying or driving experience.
  • Premium Z-connector compatibility — These heavy-duty connectors are genuine Z-connectors that work perfectly with both Spektrum and JR receivers and servos, giving you maximum flexibility when building or repairing your RC setup without worrying about compatibility issues or adapters.
  • Heavy-duty 22AWG wire — The thicker 22-gauge wire handles significantly higher current loads than standard servo extensions, which is essential for modern high-torque servos and brushless RC systems that demand more power, ensuring voltage drop is minimised and servo performance remains peak under load.
  • Spektrum-branded connectors — The connector housings feature the iconic Spektrum logo moulded directly into the plastic, making it instantly easy to identify which extensions are genuine Spektrum products and helping you keep your spares organised across multiple RC projects.
  • Professional-grade construction — Built to the exacting standards Spektrum applies to all its radio control components, this extension is manufactured for reliability in demanding RC environments, whether you're a competitive racer pushing your brushless RC car to the limit or a weekend basher exploring the latest ready-to-run RC trucks.

Technical Performance

The SPM Heavy-Duty Servo Extension 36 is engineered with materials and specifications that reflect Spektrum's commitment to quality and performance. The heavy-duty 22AWG wire gauge is substantially thicker than economy servo extensions, which means it can handle the current demands of modern RC servos — especially high-torque metal-geared servos commonly found in competitive 1/10 scale RC buggies, RC trucks, and other performance-oriented platforms. The gold-plated Z-connectors work flawlessly with Spektrum's entire receiver and servo range, and are also compatible with JR-branded equipment, so whether you're running a complete Spektrum radio system on your brushless RC crawler or you have mixed components from different manufacturers, this extension will integrate seamlessly. The 36-inch cable length is ideal for most RC applications where servos cannot be mounted adjacent to the receiver, providing enough reach for even complex installations without excessive slack. The connector housings are robust and designed to withstand repeated plugging and unplugging during maintenance and upgrades, which is a common reality for UK RC hobbyists constantly tweaking their setups. When paired with quality Spektrum receivers and servos, this extension ensures minimal signal loss and maximum responsiveness — crucial factors in competitive racing or precision flying where even milliseconds of servo delay can affect performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a servo extension and why do I need one? — A servo extension is a cable that extends the distance between your RC receiver and servo, allowing you to position servos further from the receiver when your model's design requires it. You need one when the factory servo cable isn't long enough to reach from the receiver to the servo's mounting location, which is common in larger RC models like 1/10 buggies, RC trucks, and aircraft where component spacing is deliberately spread out.
  • Is the SPM Heavy-Duty Servo Extension 36 compatible with my RC system? — Yes, it's compatible with all Spektrum receivers and servos, and also works with JR-branded equipment thanks to the standard Z-connector design. If you're running a Spektrum radio system on your RC car or helicopter, this extension is guaranteed to work perfectly.
  • How long is the 36-inch cable and is it long enough for my RC model? — The 36-inch length translates to 91 centimetres, which is sufficient for most RC applications including 1/10 and 1/8 scale vehicles, medium-sized RC helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft. If you need even longer reach, you can chain multiple extensions together or look for longer variants in the SPM range.
  • Why is the 22AWG wire better than standard servo extensions? — The thicker 22-gauge wire has lower resistance, which means less voltage drop when delivering power to your servo, especially important when using high-torque servos or running extended cable runs in brushless RC systems where servos demand significant current to operate at full speed and torque.
  • Are the gold-plated contacts just for looks? — No, gold plating serves a critical engineering purpose: it resists corrosion far better than bare copper or tin plating, ensuring long-term reliability and maintaining a consistent, low-resistance electrical connection even after months of storage or use in damp UK weather conditions that can tarnish inferior connectors.
  • Can I use this with non-Spektrum servos? — Yes, the Z-connector is industry-standard and works with JR servos and other brands that use the same connector type, though Spektrum specifically designed and tested this extension to work optimally with Spektrum receivers and servos.
