This pinion gear is manufactured in Europe using advanced CNC machinery and special hardening processes that ensure every tooth is perfectly shaped with exceptional concentricity. The result is vibration-free operation and maximum efficiency in power transfer from your motor to your gearbox, which translates directly to better handling, faster lap times, and a more responsive driving experience. For RC model enthusiasts in the UK looking to upgrade their drivetrain components, this Team Corally pinion represents outstanding value and proven performance that won't let you down on the track.
Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — This pinion is manufactured from specially hardened steel that delivers exceptional toughness and durability, resisting wear and damage from heavy use so your gear maintains its shape and performance characteristics over many hours of driving on the track or trail.
- CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth on this pinion is cut using precision CNC machinery to ensure perfect tooth shaping and ultra-true running, which eliminates vibration and noise for smoother, quieter operation and more reliable power transmission to your gearbox.
- MOD1 Module Specification — This pinion is engineered to the MOD1 (Modulus 1.0) standard, which means it will mesh perfectly with all MOD1 gears and is compatible with all 1/8 scale RC cars designed around this popular gearing standard, making it a universal upgrade choice for your RC vehicle.
- 17-Tooth Configuration — The 17-tooth count provides an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed, offering competitive drivers the perfect gear ratio for various track conditions and driving styles, allowing you to find the ideal setup for your specific needs.
- 5.0mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — This pinion is designed to fit all motors with standard 5.0mm shafts, which are the industry standard on countless brushless RC motors, ensuring you can easily integrate this component into your existing RC setup without special adapters.
- Easy Identification — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number (17T) for quick and easy identification, so you'll never mix up your gears and can keep your spare parts organised and ready for rapid track-side changes.
- European Manufacturing — Proudly made in Europe, this Team Corally component meets the highest quality standards and represents the culmination of years of RC engineering expertise and precision manufacturing processes.
- Precise Tolerances and Ultra-True Running — The manufacturing process ensures unparalleled concentricity, meaning the gear runs perfectly true without wobbling or runout, which is essential for maximising the lifespan of your transmission and maintaining consistent performance lap after lap.
Technical Performance
The Team Corally C-72717 pinion represents the pinnacle of drivetrain component engineering, combining advanced materials science with precision manufacturing to deliver a gear that performs as well as it looks. The special hardened steel composition ensures that the teeth maintain their profile even under the intense stresses of competitive racing, where gears can experience tremendous forces as they transmit power from your brushless motor to your transmission. The CNC cutting process creates teeth with perfect geometry and positioning, which means the pinion meshes with your spur gear with minimal backlash and maximum efficiency, translating every ounce of power from your motor directly into forward motion. At just 13mm in overall length with a 6.2mm tooth width, this is classified as a "short" pinion, which reduces rotating mass and inertia for quicker acceleration response—a critical factor on tight technical tracks. The 2.0mm hex socket makes installation straightforward with standard RC tools, and the 5.0mm shaft diameter accommodates the vast majority of modern brushless motors found in 1/8 scale RC cars. Whether you're running a competitive buggy, truck, or truggy, this pinion will integrate seamlessly into your drivetrain and provide years of reliable service with proper maintenance. The MOD1 specification ensures universal compatibility with thousands of RC vehicles across the hobby, making this an essential spare part to keep on hand for any serious RC enthusiast.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this Team Corally pinion suitable for beginners? — While this pinion is engineered to the highest standards and will work perfectly in any RC car UK driver's setup, it is primarily a replacement or upgrade component rather than a starter gear. Beginners should ensure they already have a complete RC vehicle and understand basic drivetrain assembly before attempting to install this pinion. However, if you're learning about RC car maintenance and upgrades, replacing worn gears with quality components like this one is an excellent educational experience.
- What vehicles does this pinion work with? — The Team Corally M1.0 pinion is designed for all 1/8 scale RC cars that use MOD1 gearing systems. This includes competitive buggies, trucks, and truggies from numerous manufacturers. As long as your vehicle is equipped with MOD1 modulus gears and has a motor with a 5.0mm shaft, this pinion will integrate perfectly into your drivetrain.
- How often should I replace this pinion? — The lifespan of a pinion gear depends heavily on your driving style, track conditions, and maintenance practices. High-speed racing, abrasive dirt, and impacts will accelerate wear. Most competitive drivers carry spare pinions for track events and replace them every 50-100 hours of driving or whenever visible wear becomes apparent. The hardened steel construction on this Corally pinion extends its service life significantly compared to standard materials.
- Can I use this with my current RC car? — This pinion is only compatible with 1/8 scale RC cars equipped with MOD1 gears and motors featuring 5.0mm shafts. Check your vehicle's documentation or contact the manufacturer to confirm your car uses MOD1 gearing before purchasing. Using incompatible components can result in poor meshing and rapid wear or damage.
- What tools do I need to install this pinion? — Installation requires a 2.0mm hex key (Allen key) to loosen and tighten the set screw that secures the pinion to your motor shaft. You may also want a small puller tool to remove the old pinion safely. Most RC enthusiasts have these basic tools in their pit box already.
- Why choose hardened steel over other materials? — Hardened steel pinions offer superior durability compared to softer materials, resisting wear and tooth stripping far more effectively. This means your pinion maintains its precise tooth geometry longer, which preserves gear mesh quality and overall drivetrain efficiency throughout its service life. For competitive drivers and heavy users, the longevity of hardened steel provides excellent value.
- What is the difference between this 17-tooth and other tooth counts? — Tooth count directly affects your final gear ratio. Lower tooth counts (like 15T or 16T) create higher gear ratios for faster top speeds but reduced low-end acceleration. Higher tooth counts (like 18T or 19T) provide lower gear ratios with quicker acceleration but lower top speed. The 17-tooth represents a balanced middle ground suitable for most track conditions, but drivers fine-tune their tooth count based on track layout, surface, and weather.
