Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the 69-tooth spur gear best used for in RC car setups? — The 69-tooth configuration provides a balanced gear ratio option that works well across various driving conditions. It sits in the middle of the available range, making it suitable for drivers who want good acceleration without sacrificing too much top-end speed, or those who want a versatile setup that works across different track layouts and weather conditions.
- Is the Team Associated AS3921 compatible with my TC3 chassis? — Yes, this spur gear is specifically designed for Team Associated TC3 cars and other compatible platforms that use 48-pitch gears. The part number AS3921 is the official Team Associated designation for this component, ensuring perfect compatibility and fit with your TC3 chassis.
- What pinion sizes work with the 69-tooth spur gear? — This 48-pitch spur gear is compatible with any 48-pitch pinion, with popular options ranging from 17 teeth up to 34 teeth. Your specific choice depends on your driving style and track conditions—higher tooth-count pinions provide more acceleration, whilst lower tooth-count pinions favour top-end speed.
- How often should I replace my spur gear? — Spur gears are wear items that will eventually require replacement depending on frequency of use and driving style. Regular inspection for chipped or worn teeth is recommended. Most recreational drivers find that a quality spur gear like the AS3921 provides many hours of reliable service before needing replacement.
- Can I use this spur gear on other RC cars besides the TC3? — Whilst this part is specifically designed for the TC3, it may be compatible with other Team Associated models and any third-party RC car that uses 48-pitch gears. Always check your vehicle's specifications or consult with RC Model Shop's expert team to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- What is the difference between different tooth-count spur gears? — Team Associated offer multiple spur gear options including 66T (Part 3924), 69T (this part, AS3921), 72T (Part 3922), and 75T (Part 3923), all in 48-pitch. Higher tooth counts create lower final drive ratios, resulting in more acceleration but lower top speed, whilst lower tooth counts provide higher final ratios with better top-end speed but reduced initial acceleration.
