This super-tough steel component provides a direct upgrade and replacement option for stock items, delivering improved durability and reliability during intense RC driving sessions. Whether you're a seasoned competitor running on the track, a weekend basher tackling rough terrain, or an RC enthusiast maintaining your brushless RC car, this pinion gear is engineered to withstand the demands of modern electric RC vehicles.

ARRMA is renowned for manufacturing premium RC car components that meet the expectations of dedicated hobbyists and professionals alike. This 17-tooth pinion gear represents the quality and precision engineering you'd expect from the brand, making it an ideal choice for drivers seeking to upgrade their drivetrain performance. Compatible with popular ARRMA models including the MOJAVE 6S V2 BLX range, this steel pinion gear offers the durability and consistency needed for reliable RC car performance across all driving conditions.

For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking for genuine OEM replacement parts and upgrade components, this steel pinion gear from ARRMA delivers exceptional value and peace of mind. The robust steel construction ensures longevity even under demanding driving scenarios, making it a smart investment for anyone serious about maintaining their RC car to the highest standards.

Key Features

  • Steel Construction — Unlike plastic alternatives, the steel material provides superior strength and durability, resisting wear from continuous meshing with the spur gear and maintaining consistent performance over extended use periods, which is essential for reliable RC car operation.
  • 17-Tooth Configuration — The 17-tooth count is carefully engineered to deliver optimal gear ratio performance, balancing acceleration and top speed characteristics to suit the driving profile of compatible ARRMA vehicles, ensuring you get the right balance for your driving style.
  • Mod1 Gear Pitch — The Mod1 (Module 1) specification ensures precise compatibility with OEM ARRMA components, guaranteeing smooth meshing and minimal backlash for efficient power delivery and reduced vibration during operation of your RC car.
  • 5mm Bore Size — The 5mm bore diameter is precisely machined to fit standard ARRMA motor shafts, providing a secure and reliable connection that won't slip under load, maintaining consistent performance and preventing drivetrain damage.
  • Direct OEM Replacement — Engineered as a genuine replacement component, this pinion gear integrates seamlessly with existing ARRMA drivetrains, requiring no additional modifications or compatibility adjustments to your RC vehicle setup.
  • Professional-Grade Quality — ARRMA's manufacturing standards ensure this component meets the same rigorous specifications as factory original parts, giving you confidence in the reliability and longevity of your RC car's drivetrain system.

Technical Performance

This ARRMA Steel Pinion Gear 17T Mod1 5mm represents the pinnacle of drivetrain component engineering for high-performance electric RC cars. The steel material selection is critical for longevity and consistency, particularly in brushless RC vehicles where motor power delivery is constant and unforgiving. Unlike plastic pinion gears that can wear, strip, or break under sustained load, this steel construction maintains its tooth profile integrity through hundreds of drive cycles, ensuring your RC car performs predictably every time you take it out. The precise Mod1 gear pitch specification is fundamental to the ARRMA design philosophy, ensuring that tooth engagement with the spur gear is optimised for minimal backlash and maximum efficiency in power transfer from the motor to the wheels. This precision engineering translates directly into better acceleration response, smoother torque delivery, and reduced drivetrain noise during operation. The 5mm bore is a standard specification across ARRMA brushless RC cars, making this component universally compatible across multiple ARRMA models and generations. The 17-tooth count represents a mid-range configuration that balances top speed potential with controllable acceleration, making it suitable for both competitive driving and casual RC car enjoyment. Whether you're running a 3S or 6S brushless system, the drivetrain geometry remains consistent and reliable. The engineering tolerances are held to extremely tight specifications during manufacturing, ensuring that each pinion gear provides the same performance characteristics as the last, delivering the consistency that serious RC enthusiasts demand from their vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ARRMA RC cars is this 17T pinion gear compatible with? — This steel pinion gear is confirmed compatible with the ARRMA MOJAVE 6S V2 BLX in both Green/Black and Red/Black colour variants. It will also work with other ARRMA models using Mod1 5mm bore specifications, though you should verify compatibility with your specific vehicle before purchase.
  • Why should I upgrade to a steel pinion gear instead of using the plastic stock gear? — Steel pinion gears offer significantly better durability and longevity compared to plastic alternatives. They resist tooth wear, maintain consistent performance characteristics over extended use, and are far less likely to strip or break under load. For serious RC enthusiasts and frequent drivers, a steel pinion gear is a worthwhile upgrade that extends the lifespan of your drivetrain components and reduces maintenance requirements.
  • What does Mod1 gear pitch mean and why does it matter? — Mod1 (Module 1) is a metric gear specification that defines the tooth profile and spacing of the gear. Using a pinion gear with the correct Mod1 specification ensures optimal meshing with your spur gear, minimising backlash and vibration whilst maximising power transfer efficiency. Installing a mismatched gear pitch would result in poor performance and potential drivetrain damage.
  • Will this pinion gear work with both 3S and 6S LiPo battery systems? — Yes, this pinion gear is a mechanical component that functions identically regardless of your battery voltage. Whether you're running a 3S or 6S brushless system, the gear ratio and performance characteristics remain the same. The 17-tooth count will provide consistent acceleration and speed characteristics across any voltage configuration you choose.
  • How often should I replace my pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and reasonable driving, a steel pinion gear can last hundreds of drive cycles. Most RC enthusiasts replace their pinion gears only when visible wear occurs, such as flattened or chipped teeth. Regular inspection of your drivetrain components, including the spur gear and pinion gear, is recommended to catch wear before it affects performance.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement component rather than a complete vehicle, so it's intended for RC enthusiasts who already own a compatible ARRMA vehicle and possess basic mechanical skills. If you're new to RC cars, you may want to start with a ready-to-run RC car package and learn the basics before undertaking drivetrain upgrades or maintenance.
