Overview

The FlySky FS-i4X 6-Channel 2.4GHz Receiver (model FS-A6) is a compact and reliable PWM receiver designed for RC enthusiasts looking for a lightweight solution for signal reception across the UK and beyond. This receiver operates on the advanced AFHDS 2A protocol, which delivers stable and interference-free performance in the crowded 2.4GHz frequency band. Whether you're piloting an RC car, truck, buggy or aircraft, this six-channel receiver provides the control you need with minimal weight penalty—a critical advantage when every gram matters in high-performance RC applications.

Built by FlySky, a recognised manufacturer in the RC hobby, the FS-A6 brings professional-grade reliability to budget-conscious RC enthusiasts. The receiver measures just 45 × 23 × 9 millimetres and weighs a mere 13 grams, making it ideal for small-scale RC vehicles where space is limited. With certification from CE, FCC and RCM authorities, you can purchase this receiver with confidence knowing it meets stringent safety and performance standards. Whether you're upgrading an existing RC setup or building a new one from scratch, the FS-i4X receiver offers excellent value without compromising on functionality.

This is the perfect choice for RC hobbyists in the UK who want to integrate FlySky transmitter control into their models. The receiver's wide power input range and robust construction make it suitable for a variety of RC applications, from entry-level weekend bashers to more serious competitive platforms. If you're searching for a dependable 6-channel RC receiver online, the FS-A6 delivers the performance and compatibility you expect from an established RC brand.

Key Features

  • Six PWM Channels — This receiver provides six independent PWM channels, allowing you to control multiple functions simultaneously such as throttle, steering, auxiliary channels for lights, winches or additional servos, making it versatile across many different RC vehicle types.
  • 2.4GHz AFHDS 2A Protocol — Operating on the proven AFHDS 2A wireless protocol, the receiver delivers fast response times and exceptional interference immunity in the congested 2.4GHz frequency spectrum, ensuring your RC model responds instantly and reliably to your control inputs.
  • Extended Communication Range — With an impressive range of 500 to 1500 metres in open air, this receiver allows you to pilot your RC vehicle at significant distances without signal loss or degradation, whether you're flying FPV or controlling ground-based vehicles across large outdoor spaces.
  • Single Integrated Antenna Design — The integrated 150mm antenna eliminates the need for multiple antenna connections and simplifies installation, whilst maintaining full signal reception strength and consistency across your operating range.
  • Flexible Power Input — The receiver accepts power from 4.0 to 6.5 volts, accommodating both 4.8V and 6.0V battery packs commonly used in RC vehicles, as well as regulated power supplies from onboard ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers).
  • Compact Dimensions — Measuring just 45 × 23 × 9 millimetres and weighing only 13 grams, the FS-A6 is lightweight enough for weight-sensitive applications where reducing unsprung mass or overall vehicle weight is critical for performance.
  • Robust International Certification — CE, FCC and RCM certification means this receiver meets strict electromagnetic compatibility and safety standards across Europe, the United States and Australia, providing assurance of quality and regulatory compliance.
  • PWM Data Port — The standard PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) output format is compatible with any PWM-compatible servo, ESC or control module, ensuring easy integration into existing RC setups without the need for proprietary adapters.

Technical Performance

The FlySky FS-A6 receiver is engineered for reliable performance in demanding RC environments. Its AFHDS 2A protocol represents a significant advancement in 2.4GHz frequency-hopping technology, automatically avoiding interference from WiFi networks, video transmitters and other RC systems operating in the same band—a common concern for RC enthusiasts in urban areas and at busy flying sites. The receiver's extended range of 500 to 1500 metres (measured in open air) makes it suitable for long-range applications, though real-world range may vary based on terrain, antenna orientation and environmental factors. The wide power input specification of 4.0 to 6.5 volts accommodates a broad range of battery packs and power sources, including standard 4-cell NiMH packs and single-cell LiPo batteries, making integration straightforward across different RC platforms. Operating temperature range extends from 0°C to +60°C with humidity tolerance between 20% and 95%, allowing reliable operation in British weather conditions from cold winter mornings to warm summer afternoons. The receiver's compact 13-gram weight and minimal 45 × 23 × 9 millimetre footprint mean installation in confined spaces—such as within tight fuselages of small RC aircraft or compact RC truck chassis—presents no challenges. The absence of RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) output means the receiver does not support telemetry feedback of signal strength, which is acceptable for basic RC applications but may be a limitation for advanced users requiring real-time diagnostic data. The receiver does not support online firmware updates, meaning any future protocol improvements would require physical replacement; however, the mature AFHDS 2A standard is stable and unlikely to require changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the FlySky FS-A6 receiver compatible with my existing RC transmitter? — The FS-A6 receiver is designed exclusively for FlySky transmitters operating on the AFHDS 2A protocol. It will not work with transmitters from other manufacturers such as Spektrum, FrSky, Futaba or Radiolink. You must use a compatible FlySky FS-i4X transmitter or another FlySky model featuring AFHDS 2A support.
  • What is the real-world operating range of this receiver? — The manufacturer specifies a maximum range of 500 to 1500 metres in open air. Real-world range depends significantly on terrain, vegetation, building materials and antenna orientation. In urban environments with WiFi interference, expect shorter practical range. Always test your specific setup before flying or driving at maximum distance.
  • Can I use this receiver with a LiPo battery? — Yes, the FS-A6 accepts power from 4.0 to 6.5 volts, which accommodates single-cell LiPo batteries (4.2V nominal) and two-cell LiPo packs (8.4V nominal, though you would need to regulate the voltage down to the safe 4.0–6.5V range using a BEC or dedicated voltage regulator).
  • Does this receiver support telemetry or signal strength monitoring? — No, the FS-A6 does not support RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) output, meaning you cannot monitor receiver signal strength in real-time. This is acceptable for basic recreational flying or driving, but advanced competitors requiring diagnostic telemetry should consider alternative options.
  • How do I connect servos and speed controllers to this receiver? — The FS-A6 uses standard PWM connectors compatible with any PWM servo or ESC. Simply connect your servo signal wires to the corresponding channel outputs (channels 1–6), ensuring correct polarity (positive, signal, ground).
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, the FS-A6 is an excellent choice for beginners starting their RC hobby in the UK. The receiver is straightforward to install, the AFHDS 2A protocol is reliable and interference-resistant, and six channels provide plenty of functionality for entry-level RC vehicles. The compact size makes it forgiving in tight installations, and the competitive pricing means less financial risk for newcomers.
  • What certifications does the FS-A6 hold? — The receiver carries CE (European Conformity), FCC (Federal Communications Commission for United States) and RCM (Australian regulatory certification) markings, confirming compliance with electromagnetic compatibility and safety standards in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Will this receiver work with my Element Enduro or FTX GT2 Evo? — The FS-A6 will only work with the original FlySky transmitter that came with your model if that transmitter uses AFHDS 2A protocol. If your Element Enduro came with a different FlySky variant or your FTX GT2 Evo uses a proprietary remote, this receiver will not be compatible without upgrading to a compatible FlySky transmitter.
