Overview

The Savox High Torque Coreless Digital Servo 10kg@6.0V in Black Edition (SAV-SC1257TGB) is a premium servo designed specifically for serious RC car racers in the UK who demand performance, reliability and aesthetics in equal measure. Savox have listened to the racing community and created this limited edition range with a sleek black aluminium centre case that complements the modern stealthy appearance of contemporary RC vehicles. Whether you're running a carbon chassis buggy, a moulded competition car, or a black-themed RC racer, this servo seamlessly integrates with your setup whilst delivering the high torque performance you need for precision steering and control.

This servo combines cutting-edge digital technology with robust engineering to provide racers with an exceptional balance of speed, torque and durability. The coreless motor design eliminates the traditional iron core found in standard servos, resulting in a lighter, faster and more efficient servo that consumes less power from your battery pack. Whether you're competing at your local RC track, bashing on the weekend, or fine-tuning your race buggy, the SC1257TGB delivers consistent performance lap after lap. The 10kg torque rating at 6.0V makes it ideal for 1/10 scale buggies and touring cars where responsive steering input and solid holding torque are critical to winning races.

The Black Edition aesthetic isn't just about looks—the aluminium centre case design provides superior heat dissipation compared to plastic alternatives, keeping your servo cooler during extended run sessions. Combined with the 200mm long black shielded lead wire, this servo presents a professional, race-ready appearance on any RC car. If you're serious about RC car performance in the UK and want a servo that performs as well as it looks, the Savox SC1257TGB is an excellent choice for your next upgrade or build.

Key Features

  • Black Aluminium Centre Case — The sleek black aluminium construction not only delivers a professional racing aesthetic that matches modern RC car designs, but also provides superior thermal management, allowing the servo to operate at cooler temperatures during intense racing sessions, which extends component lifespan and maintains consistent performance.
  • Coreless Motor Technology — The coreless motor eliminates the traditional iron core found in standard servos, resulting in a lighter servo that delivers higher speed, incredible efficiency and dramatically lower power consumption, meaning your battery pack lasts longer between charges.
  • 12-Bit Digital Resolution (4096 steps) — This advanced digital servo features super high 12-bit resolution with 4096 position steps, providing extraordinarily precise steering control and response that serious racers demand for competitive advantage on the track.
  • Titanium Gears — The servo is equipped with durable titanium gears combined with aluminium components, ensuring exceptional longevity and durability even under the extreme stress and rapid cycling demands of competitive RC car racing.
  • 200mm Black Shielded Lead Wire — The included shorter black lead wire with all-black outer sheath provides both functional benefits (easier routing in compact chassis) and aesthetic continuity with modern black-themed RC vehicles.
  • Double Ball Bearing Design — Two ball bearings support smooth, precise shaft rotation, reducing friction and ensuring reliable servo operation throughout the life of the component.
  • High Torque at 6.0V — Rated for 10kg of torque at 6.0V operation, this servo delivers the holding power and steering authority essential for competitive 1/10 scale buggy racing and touring car competition.
  • Lightweight Construction — Weighing just 52.4 grams, the servo is exceptionally light for its torque class, minimising unsprung weight in your RC chassis and improving overall vehicle handling and performance.
  • Laser Etched Details — Professional laser etching on the black case adds a premium appearance and race-ready aesthetic that distinguishes this limited edition servo from standard production models.

Technical Performance

The Savox SC1257TGB represents the pinnacle of servo engineering for competitive RC car racing in the UK. Measuring just 40.3 x 20.2 x 37.2mm and weighing a mere 52.4 grams, this standard-sized servo offers an exceptional power-to-weight ratio that makes it ideal for 1/10 scale buggies, touring cars and other RC vehicles where every gram matters. The servo achieves a speed of 0.07 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V operation, providing rapid steering response for aggressive cornering and mid-race adjustments. At this same voltage, the servo delivers an impressive 138.9 oz-in (approximately 10kg) of torque, ensuring sufficient holding power to maintain your steering line even under full throttle acceleration or hard braking scenarios. The 25-tooth spline is a standard fitment compatible with most servo horns available for 1/10 scale RC cars in the UK market. The coreless motor design provides extraordinary efficiency compared to traditional iron-core servos, meaning you'll draw less current from your battery pack during a race run, extending runtime and reducing voltage sag. The aluminium centre case construction not only looks absolutely stunning on black-themed RC vehicles but also dissipates heat more effectively than plastic cases, maintaining consistent servo performance even during back-to-back heats or long practice sessions. With titanium gears and two ball bearings supporting the output shaft, this servo is engineered to handle the rigorous demands of competitive racing, delivering reliable performance mile after mile and season after season.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Savox SC1257TGB suitable for competitive RC car racing? — Absolutely. This servo has been specifically designed in response to requests from serious RC racers who compete in the UK. The combination of high torque, rapid response speed, digital precision and durable titanium gears makes it an excellent choice for 1/10 scale buggy competition, touring car racing and other competitive disciplines where steering control is critical to winning races.
  • What voltage should I run this servo at? — The Savox SC1257TGB operates across a range of voltages. At 4.8V, it delivers 0.09 seconds per 60 degrees of movement and 111.1 oz-in of torque. At 6.0V, performance improves to 0.07 seconds per 60 degrees with 138.9 oz-in of torque. Most competitive racers use 2S LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal, typically limited to 6.0V or lower during racing) or NiMH packs to power this servo safely and efficiently.
  • What makes the coreless motor better than traditional servo motors? — Coreless motors eliminate the iron core found in standard servos, resulting in a significantly lighter servo that operates faster, more efficiently and consumes less power from your battery pack. For RC car racing where power efficiency and rapid response are critical, a coreless servo like the SC1257TGB provides a tangible advantage over traditional core motors.
  • How does the black aluminium case improve performance? — The black aluminium centre case serves two important functions: it provides superior thermal management compared to plastic cases, allowing the servo to dissipate heat more effectively and operate at cooler temperatures during extended racing sessions, which improves reliability and consistency. It also looks absolutely stunning on modern black-themed RC vehicles, delivering the aesthetic that serious racers want.
  • Is this servo waterproof? — The source material does not specify waterproof rating for this model. However, the coreless motor and digital electronics are standard components that should handle typical racing conditions. For wet conditions, we recommend checking with Savox directly or consulting the detailed manual.
  • What is the difference between this Black Edition and standard Savox servos? — The Black Edition (SAV-SC1257TGB) features the same high-performance coreless motor, titanium gears and digital circuitry as other Savox high-torque servos, but adds distinctive aesthetic touches including a black aluminium centre case with laser etched details and a 200mm black shielded lead wire. These premium cosmetic features are specifically designed to appeal to RC car racers in the UK who want their electronics to match the professional, stealthy appearance of modern racing vehicles.
  • What size servo horn spline does this use? — The Savox SC1257TGB features a standard 25-tooth spline, which is the most common fitment for servo horns used on 1/10 scale RC buggies, touring cars and other RC vehicles available in the UK.
  • How much does this servo weigh? — At just 52.4 grams, this servo is exceptionally lightweight for its torque class, making it ideal for minimising unsprung weight in competitive RC chassis where every gram contributes to handling and performance.
