Overview

The FTX Ball Bearing 5x14x5 (8pc) is an essential spare part for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision engineering and reliable performance from their vehicles. These high-quality ball bearings are designed to keep your RC model running smoothly, whether you're a competitive racer pushing your brushless RC car to its limits or a weekend basher enjoying outdoor RC fun. Manufactured by FTX, a recognised brand in the RC hobby community, these bearings represent a crucial component for maintaining optimal drivetrain performance and longevity.

Ball bearings are fundamental to any RC car's operation, supporting rotating shafts and reducing friction to ensure smooth, efficient power delivery from your motor to the wheels. When your RC vehicle's original bearings wear out or become damaged through regular use and racing, having quality replacement bearings on hand is essential for keeping your model in peak condition. The FTX Ball Bearing 5x14x5 specification is compatible with a wide range of FTX RC models, making this an incredibly versatile spare part for collectors and active RC enthusiasts in the UK.

Whether you're maintaining an FTX Outback, FTX Bugsta, FTX Carnage, or any other model in the extensive FTX product range, these bearings deliver the precision fit and durability you need. This eight-piece pack ensures you have sufficient bearings for multiple repairs or upgrades, making it a cost-effective choice for serious hobbyists who want to keep their RC cars ready to run at all times.

Key Features

  • Precise 5x14x5 Dimensions — These bearings are manufactured to exact specifications (5mm inner diameter, 14mm outer diameter, 5mm width), ensuring a perfect fit in your FTX RC model's chassis and drivetrain components for reliable operation.
  • Eight-Piece Pack — This generous quantity provides you with multiple bearing sets, allowing you to perform comprehensive maintenance, replace worn components across different RC vehicles, or keep spares ready for emergency repairs during race day.
  • Genuine FTX Manufacturing — As an official FTX product, these bearings are engineered to the same exacting standards as your RC model, guaranteeing compatibility and performance that matches the original equipment specifications.
  • Smooth Operation — Quality ball bearings dramatically reduce friction within your RC car's drivetrain, enabling smooth rotation of shafts and gears while minimising energy loss and improving overall efficiency and speed delivery.
  • Extended Component Life — By replacing worn or damaged bearings promptly, you protect other drivetrain components from premature wear, extending the lifespan of your motor, gears, and axles and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
  • Universal Compatibility — These FTX bearings are listed as compatible across numerous FTX hop-up options and spare parts listings, making them an ideal choice for owners of multiple FTX RC models.

Technical Performance

Ball bearings are precision-engineered components manufactured to exacting tolerances to ensure optimal performance in RC vehicles. The FTX Ball Bearing 5x14x5 specification represents a standard bearing size used throughout the FTX product range, from electric RC cars to various scale models. These bearings feature hardened steel races and high-quality ball components that roll smoothly under load, minimising friction and allowing efficient power transmission from your brushless or brushed motor through the drivetrain to your wheels. The tight tolerances and precision engineering ensure that when installed correctly, these bearings provide years of reliable service through countless hours of RC bashing, racing, and general hobby use. Regular inspection and replacement of worn bearings is a critical maintenance task for any serious RC car owner in the UK, as worn bearings can cause excessive play in the chassis, poor handling characteristics, and unnecessary stress on other mechanical components. By maintaining your RC model's bearing set with genuine FTX replacements, you ensure that your vehicle continues to deliver the smooth, responsive performance that makes RC motoring so enjoyable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which FTX RC models are these ball bearings compatible with? — The FTX Ball Bearing 5x14x5 specification is used across a wide range of FTX vehicles including the FTX Outback series, FTX Bugsta, FTX Carnage, FTX Colt, FTX Comet, FTX Edge, FTX Hi-Rock, FTX Mauler, FTX Stinger, FTX Tracer, FTX Vantage and many other models in the FTX product lineup. If you're unsure about compatibility with your specific model, we recommend checking your vehicle's spare parts documentation or contacting our team at RC Model Shop for guidance.
  • How often should I replace my RC car's ball bearings? — The frequency of bearing replacement depends on how intensively you use your RC vehicle. Regular bashers and racers should inspect bearings every few months and replace them if they show signs of wear, grinding sounds, or excessive play. Casual users might replace bearings annually or as needed. Having a spare pack like this eight-piece set means you can perform maintenance without delay.
  • What is the difference between these FTX bearings and generic aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine FTX bearings are manufactured to the exact specifications your vehicle was designed for, ensuring perfect fit and optimal performance. They're engineered using quality materials and precision tolerances that match the standards of your RC model's original equipment, reducing the risk of fitment issues or premature failure that can sometimes occur with generic alternatives.
  • Are these bearings sealed against dirt and water? — The source specification does not provide detailed sealing information. We recommend contacting our team at RC Model Shop for specific details about the sealing characteristics of these FTX bearings if you plan to operate your RC vehicle in wet or dusty conditions.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — While bearing replacement is a maintenance task rather than a complete RC product, beginners who own FTX RC models will find these bearings essential for keeping their vehicles in working order. Bearing replacement requires basic mechanical skills and a small amount of patience, making it an accessible maintenance task for hobbyists of all experience levels.
  • How do I know if my bearings need replacing? — Warning signs include grinding or clicking noises from the drivetrain, noticeably rough or jerky handling, difficulty turning or poor steering response, and visible play or wobbling in the suspension or axles. If you notice any of these symptoms, it's time to inspect your bearings and replace them if necessary.
