Overview
The Traxxas Springs, shock (natural finish) (GT-Maxx) (1.036 rate) (2) TRX10240 are essential suspension tuning components designed for RC enthusiasts looking to optimise their vehicle's handling characteristics. These shock springs are specifically engineered for the Traxxas Maxx Slash 1/8 4WD 6S brushless short course truck, one of the most popular high-performance RC vehicles in the UK market. Whether you're a weekend basher exploring the capabilities of your RC car or a serious competitor fine-tuning your setup for maximum performance, these GT-Maxx shock springs provide the flexibility to adapt your suspension to different driving conditions and vehicle configurations.
GT-Maxx shock springs represent Traxxas's commitment to offering RC enthusiasts comprehensive tuning options that allow you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations. Available in different spring rates, these components enable drivers to achieve responsive control over small bumps whilst maintaining the ability to absorb harder impacts. The 1.036 rate featured in this product is carefully chosen to deliver a balanced suspension response, making these springs suitable for a wide range of driving scenarios on both track and off-road terrain. If you're searching for quality RC suspension parts for your short course truck, reliable shock springs for your Traxxas model, or the best way to tune your RC car for improved handling, the TRX10240 springs are a proven choice trusted by RC enthusiasts throughout the UK.
These natural finish shock springs come as a pair, giving you a complete front or rear suspension upgrade depending on your setup requirements. The progressive-rate design ensures that your suspension remains compliant over small bumps whilst progressively stiffening to handle the harder impacts that come with aggressive driving. This makes them an ideal choice for anyone looking to enhance their RC car's suspension performance without requiring a complete overhaul of their setup.
Key Features
- Progressive-Rate Design — These springs feature a custom-wound progressive rate that provides responsive control when your RC vehicle encounters small bumps, whilst the progressively stiffer design absorbs harder impacts effectively. This dual-action approach ensures smooth handling across varying terrain without sacrificing durability or performance.
- Natural Finish Construction — The natural finish provides a clean, professional appearance whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the springs. This finish is standard across the GT-Maxx range and ensures compatibility with all GT-Maxx shock systems.
- 1.036 Spring Rate — The specific 1.036 rate represents a carefully balanced stiffness level that works well for general-purpose RC driving. In the Traxxas spring rate system, higher numbers indicate firmer springs, so this mid-range rate offers versatility for different vehicle weights and driving styles.
- Sold as a Pair — This product includes two springs, providing you with enough components to upgrade either your front or rear suspension, or to have spare springs ready for future tuning adjustments.
- GT-Maxx Shock Compatibility — These springs are specifically designed for GT-Maxx shock systems, ensuring perfect fitment and performance when installed on compatible vehicles including the Traxxas Maxx Slash range.
- Tuning Flexibility — By selecting the 1.036 rate, you're able to optimise your suspension for specific driving conditions or compensate for vehicle weight variations. If you need a softer or stiffer setup in future, alternative rates are available within the GT-Maxx range.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Springs TRX10240 represent precision engineering designed to enhance your RC vehicle's suspension performance. These shock springs measure 139mm and are custom-wound with a progressive rate that Traxxas has perfected over years of RC racing and driving experience. The progressive-rate technology means that the springs respond softly to initial compression (ideal for small bumps and undulations), but increase in stiffness as compression increases (perfect for absorbing the impact of larger obstacles and jumps). This engineering approach is particularly valuable in short course truck racing, where suspension compliance and control are critical to maintaining speed over varied terrain. The natural finish ensures durability and maintains a professional appearance whilst resisting corrosion from typical outdoor use. When installed correctly in your GT-Maxx shock absorbers, these springs work in harmony with the shock dampening system to provide the refined handling that serious RC enthusiasts demand. The 1.036 rate makes these springs suitable for a wide range of vehicle weights and driving styles, from casual weekend bashing to more competitive driving scenarios. Understanding that spring rate selection is crucial to suspension tuning, Traxxas offers multiple rates within the GT-Maxx range, allowing UK RC enthusiasts to dial in their exact suspension preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles are these Traxxas shock springs compatible with? — These TRX10240 springs are designed for the Traxxas Maxx Slash 1/8 4WD 6S brushless short course truck, available in multiple colour variants including red, green, rock n roll, and blue. They are specifically engineered for GT-Maxx shock systems fitted to these vehicles.
- What does the 1.036 spring rate mean and how does it affect my RC car's handling? — The spring rate number indicates the stiffness of the spring. In the Traxxas system, higher numbers mean firmer springs. The 1.036 rate is a mid-range option that provides balanced handling characteristics suitable for general driving and provides a good starting point for suspension tuning on your RC short course truck.
- How do progressive-rate springs differ from standard springs? — Progressive-rate springs, like these GT-Maxx springs, are custom-wound to be softer initially (providing compliance over small bumps) but stiffer as they compress further (absorbing larger impacts). This differs from linear springs which maintain the same rate throughout compression, making progressive springs ideal for RC vehicles that encounter varied terrain.
- Can I use these springs if I have a heavier or lighter vehicle setup? — Yes, Traxxas specifically designs GT-Maxx springs in different rates to allow you to compensate for different vehicle configurations and weights. If your current setup feels too soft or too stiff, you can try alternative rates within the GT-Maxx range to achieve your ideal suspension characteristics.
- Do these springs come as a complete pair? — Yes, this product includes one pair of shock springs (2 individual springs), which is sufficient to upgrade either your front or rear suspension depending on your tuning needs.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The 1.036 rate provides balanced handling that works well for drivers of all skill levels. Beginners will appreciate the responsive control over bumps, whilst experienced drivers can use these as a baseline and experiment with alternative rates to fine-tune their setup as their skills and understanding of suspension tuning develop.
- How do I know if I need stiffer or softer springs? — If your RC car feels unstable over bumps or bounces excessively, you may need stiffer springs. If the suspension feels harsh or the vehicle doesn't handle small terrain variations smoothly, softer springs might help. The Traxxas range offers multiple rates, allowing you to experiment and find the perfect balance for your driving style and local terrain.
