Every Corally pinion gear is individually marked with the tooth number for easy and quick identification, ensuring you always grab the right gear from your spares box. Available in all gearing sizes, Corally's comprehensive range allows you to find the perfect gear ratio for any track condition, whether you're racing on carpet, asphalt, or loose surfaces. This particular 24-tooth version is one of the most popular configurations for balanced performance across a variety of driving scenarios.
Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion gear is manufactured from premium hardened steel that has been specially processed to deliver exceptional toughness and durability under extreme racing loads. This material selection ensures the gear can withstand the punishment of high-speed racing without chipping, stripping or wearing prematurely, which means fewer replacements and better long-term value for your investment in RC racing.
- CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Each tooth is precisely cut on a dedicated CNC gear-cutting machine to deliver absolutely perfect tooth shaping and ultra-true running characteristics. This manufacturing process ensures vibration-free operation during high-speed racing, which reduces noise, improves power transfer efficiency, and prevents damage to your bearings and motor shafts that can result from runout and vibration in lesser-quality gears.
- Ultra-Precise Manufacturing Tolerances — Created with exacting attention to detail, every pinion is manufactured to incredibly tight tolerances that assure unparalleled concentricity and smooth engagement with your spur gear. These tight tolerances eliminate the play and wobble that can occur in mass-produced gears, ensuring your RC car UK setup runs smoothly and maintains consistent performance lap after lap.
- Made in Europe — This pinion gear is manufactured to European engineering standards in Corally's European facilities, guaranteeing quality control and consistency that you can depend on. European manufacturing means attention to detail and adherence to strict quality standards that are simply not available in lower-cost alternatives manufactured in regions without comparable quality oversight.
- Module MOD1 Standard — This pinion gear uses the standard MOD1 (Module 1.0) pitch specification, which is the universal standard for 1/8 scale RC cars and buggies. This means the gear is compatible with all cars and drivetrain components that use MOD1 gearing, giving you maximum flexibility in building and upgrading your RC setup.
- Fits 5.0mm Motor Shafts — The pinion gear is precision-designed to fit all standard 5mm motor shafts, which are the industry standard for brushless motors in 1/8 scale competitive RC racing. The 5mm bore ensures secure mounting and reliable power transmission without slipping or shifting during aggressive racing manoeuvres.
- Easy Identification Markings — Each pinion is marked with the tooth number (24T in this case) for instant and easy identification. This simple feature might seem minor, but it's invaluable when you're managing a collection of spare gears and need to quickly locate the exact ratio you need for a particular setup or track condition.
- Short Pinion Design — The short pinion configuration is optimised for certain motor mounting positions and drivetrain geometries, offering flexibility in how you configure your RC car UK racing platform and allowing for fine-tuning of your setup to match specific track characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Corally M1.0 Pinion Short Hardened Steel 24 Teeth represents the absolute pinnacle of pinion gear engineering for competitive 1/8 scale RC racing. The 24-tooth configuration delivers a specific gear ratio that balances acceleration and top-end speed depending on your spur gear selection, making this tooth count one of the most versatile options available for serious racers. The hardened steel material has been specially processed through Corally's proprietary hardening treatments to achieve an optimal balance between toughness and wear resistance — soft enough to avoid brittleness and catastrophic failure, yet hard enough to resist the gradual wear that softens performance over time. The CNC cutting process ensures that every tooth profile is absolutely identical to its neighbours, eliminating the micro-variations that plague mass-produced gears and cause vibration, noise and premature wear. The ultra-true running characteristics mean that when installed on a properly aligned 5mm motor shaft, the pinion will rotate with absolute concentricity, eliminating the radial runout that can cause bearing stress and uneven tooth engagement with your spur gear. The teeth are precisely shaped to MOD1 specification, ensuring perfect meshing with standard MOD1 spur gears used in 1/8 scale RC cars and buggies. With a motor shaft diameter of 5.0mm, this pinion accommodates all standard brushless motors used in competitive 1/8 scale racing. The gear has a teeth width of 6.20mm and total gear length of 13.00mm, dimensions that are perfectly proportioned for reliable power transmission and longevity. Installation is straightforward using the 2.0mm hex key to secure the pinion onto your motor shaft — a simple process that takes just moments but results in rock-solid performance during racing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the tooth count and why does it matter for my RC buggy? — This pinion gear features 24 teeth, which is one of the most popular configurations for 1/8 scale RC racing. The tooth count directly affects your gear ratio when combined with your spur gear teeth count; a 24-tooth pinion paired with different spur gear sizes allows you to optimise for either maximum acceleration (with larger spur gears) or higher top-end speed (with smaller spur gears). The 24T configuration offers excellent versatility across various track conditions, making it ideal if you race on multiple track types or want a balanced all-rounder setup.
- Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a premium-quality pinion gear that delivers professional-grade performance, it is equally suitable for beginners learning the hobby. In fact, upgrading to a quality Corally pinion early in your RC journey is a smart decision because it will outlast cheaper alternatives and provide more consistent performance as you develop your driving skills. The precision engineering actually makes the car easier to control because there's less vibration and more predictable power delivery compared to run-of-the-mill gears.
- What motor shaft size does this pinion fit? — This pinion gear is manufactured with a 5.0mm bore diameter, which is the industry-standard motor shaft size for brushless motors in 1/8 scale RC buggies and cars. It will fit all motors with 5mm shafts, which encompasses the vast majority of brushless motors used in competitive racing at this scale.
- How do I know this is compatible with my RC car? — Compatibility is determined by two factors: first, your RC car must use MOD1 (Module 1.0) gearing, which is the standard specification for 1/8 scale racing vehicles; second, your motor must have a 5mm shaft diameter, which is universal on modern brushless motors. If your RC car uses MOD1 gearing and has a standard brushless motor with a 5mm shaft, this pinion will work perfectly. If you're unsure, check your current pinion gear — if it's marked MOD1 and fits your motor, then this Corally pinion will be a direct replacement.
- What makes Corally pinions better than cheaper alternatives? — Corally pinions are manufactured using CNC precision cutting and special hardened steel that's been processed through proprietary hardening treatments. This results in teeth that are absolutely identical to one another, with perfect concentricity and ultra-true running. Cheaper gears often have slight variations in tooth profile and runout that cause vibration, noise, and accelerated wear on your bearings and spur gears. Over time, the superior quality of a Corally pinion delivers better performance, lasts longer, and ultimately represents better value despite the higher initial cost.
- Can I use this pinion with any spur gear? — Yes, as long as your spur gear is also MOD1 specification, this pinion will mesh perfectly with it. The MOD1 standard ensures compatibility across all manufacturers and configurations. Your specific gear ratio will depend on which spur gear tooth count you pair with this 24-tooth pinion — the combined tooth counts of pinion and spur determine your overall gear ratio and therefore your acceleration and top-end speed characteristics.
