Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from premium hardened steel, which dramatically increases wear resistance and extends the lifespan of the gear compared to standard materials. This means fewer replacements and better value for money over time, particularly important if you're running your RC car UK frequently.
- CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth on this pinion is cut using computer numerical control machines, ensuring absolute precision in tooth shape and positioning. Perfect concentricity eliminates run-out and vibration, translating to smoother power delivery, quieter operation, and less stress on your motor and gearbox.
- Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — The precision manufacturing process creates a pinion that runs with exceptional smoothness, eliminating the vibration and noise that can plague lower-quality gears. This results in better handling characteristics and reduces wear on surrounding components.
- 31-Tooth Configuration — The 31-tooth count is a popular and versatile option that balances acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a wide range of track conditions and driving styles. Offering this tooth count alongside other options in Team Corally's range allows you to dial in your perfect gear ratio.
- M0.6 Module Specification — This module size is the industry standard for Tamiya RC cars and compatible vehicles, ensuring perfect mesh with your spur gear. M0.6 gearing is renowned for smooth, efficient power delivery and is the choice of serious competitors throughout the RC car UK community.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — The 3.17mm shaft bore fits standard Tamiya-specification motor shafts, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of brushed and brushless motors designed for these vehicles. This universal compatibility means you can use this pinion across multiple cars in your collection.
- Compact Short Design — The short pinion profile minimises rotational mass and reduces the overall footprint, which is beneficial for weight distribution and chassis balance. This compact design also allows for flexible motor positioning in tight engine bays.
- Individual Tooth Count Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number, making identification instant during gear changes or when managing multiple pinions for different track setups. This prevents accidental use of the wrong gear ratio and eliminates costly mistakes.
- European Manufacturing Quality — Made in Europe using strict quality control procedures, this pinion represents the high standards expected from Team Corally components. European manufacturing ensures consistency and reliability that you can depend on.
- Precise 4mm Teeth Width — The 4mm width provides adequate contact area with your spur gear whilst maintaining the compact form factor, ensuring reliable power transmission without excessive friction or heat generation.
Technical Performance
The CORALLY M0.6 PINION delivers exceptional performance through a combination of precise engineering and premium materials. At 9mm in overall length, this short pinion minimises weight whilst maintaining structural integrity essential for transmitting power from your brushless or brushed RC motor. The hardened steel construction ensures the gear can withstand the intense forces generated during acceleration and cornering without tooth wear or deformation, a critical factor when running modern high-torque brushless motors popular in the RC car UK racing scene. The CNC manufacturing process guarantees that every tooth maintains consistent spacing and profile, which is essential for smooth meshing with your spur gear and eliminates the metallic grinding sounds and power loss associated with poorly manufactured gears. The 1.5mm hex key size allows secure mounting with standard RC car tooling, and the precision engineering ensures that once installed, the pinion will maintain perfect concentricity throughout extended use. Whether you're running on 2S, 3S or higher voltage LiPo batteries with a high-performance brushless motor, this pinion's hardened steel composition can handle the increased speeds and torque demands without degradation. The ultra-true running characteristic means minimal vibration transfer to the chassis, resulting in better tyre grip, more predictable handling, and reduced wear on bearings and bushings throughout your drivetrain.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this M0.6 pinion fit my Tamiya RC car? — Yes, this pinion is specifically designed for all Tamiya RC cars and other vehicles that utilise M0.6 module gearing systems. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the standard specification for Tamiya motors, so compatibility with your existing motor is assured. Always verify your current spur gear is also M0.6 to ensure proper meshing and performance.
- What is the difference between this 31-tooth pinion and other tooth counts? — The tooth count directly affects your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. A 31-tooth pinion is considered mid-range; lower tooth counts (like 27T or 29T) provide more acceleration and lower top speed, whilst higher counts (like 33T or 35T) sacrifice acceleration for increased top speed. The 31T is a versatile choice suitable for most track conditions and driving styles, making it an excellent all-rounder for RC car UK enthusiasts.
- Why is hardened steel better than standard steel for pinion gears? — Hardened steel undergoes a special heat-treatment process that increases its hardness and wear resistance dramatically compared to standard steel. This means the teeth maintain their precise shape longer, reducing friction losses, extending the pinion's service life, and ultimately saving you money on replacements. The improved durability is particularly important if you run your RC car frequently or use high-torque brushless motors.
- How do I know if my pinion is worn out and needs replacement? — Signs of pinion wear include visible tooth damage, metal debris in your gearbox oil, increased metallic grinding sounds during acceleration, or loss of power despite a fully charged battery. Given the competitive pricing of quality pinions like this CORALLY model, replacing a worn pinion is often more cost-effective than risking damage to your motor, spur gear, and gearbox.
- Can I use this pinion with brushless motors? — Absolutely. Modern brushless motors for RC cars produce significantly more torque than brushed motors, and the hardened steel construction of this CORALLY pinion is specifically designed to handle these demands. Brushless motors are increasingly popular in the RC car UK market, and this pinion is fully compatible with any brushless system using a 3.17mm shaft and M0.6 spur gear.
- What does CNC cutting mean for pinion quality? — CNC (Computer Numerical Control) cutting means a computer-controlled machine cuts each tooth with micron-level precision, ensuring perfect tooth geometry and spacing. This precision results in smoother meshing with your spur gear, less vibration, quieter operation, and more efficient power transfer. Hand-cut or less precisely manufactured gears cannot achieve this level of consistency.
- How do I install this pinion on my motor shaft? — Remove your motor from the vehicle, then slide the pinion onto your motor shaft until it reaches the desired depth (usually determined by proper meshing with your spur gear). Use the 1.5mm hex key to tighten the set screw(s) on the pinion's hub securely. Ensure the pinion is fully seated and cannot move axially before reassembling your vehicle. Always check gear mesh engagement after installation for optimal performance.
