The Corally 64 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 29 Teeth Shaft Dia. 3.17mm (C-71329) is a premium-grade pinion gear designed for serious RC enthusiasts building and tuning high-performance electric RC cars. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to dial in the perfect gear ratio or a dedicated hobbyist seeking reliable drivetrain components for your RC vehicle, this hardened steel pinion represents the pinnacle of precision engineering and durability. Manufactured by Team Corally, a respected name in the RC hobby, this 29-tooth pinion is engineered to deliver vibration-free operation and exceptional longevity, making it an essential upgrade for anyone serious about RC car performance in the UK and beyond.
This pinion gear is specifically designed to work with 64 DP (diametral pitch) spur gears commonly found on modern electric RC cars and buggies. The 29-tooth configuration provides a particular gear ratio that suits specific track conditions and driving styles, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's acceleration and top speed characteristics. By choosing the correct pinion tooth count, you can optimise your vehicle's performance whether you're running on carpet, tarmac, or off-road terrain. For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to upgrade their drivetrain components with quality replacement or tuning gears, the Corally 64 DP pinion range offers tooth counts across the full spectrum, ensuring you can find the perfect match for your specific needs and vehicle setup.
What sets this Corally pinion apart from generic alternatives is the meticulous manufacturing process and material selection. Every tooth is CNC cut with ultra-precise shaping and concentricity tolerances that ensure smooth, vibration-free meshing with your spur gear. The hardened steel construction provides exceptional durability and wear resistance, meaning this pinion will maintain its performance characteristics over many hours of driving and numerous track sessions. If you're serious about extracting maximum performance from your RC car, investing in quality gears like the Corally 64 DP pinion is a proven way to achieve smoother acceleration, more predictable handling, and longer component lifespan.
Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from specially formulated hardened steel that resists wear and deformation even under the extreme stresses of high-torque motor operation, ensuring your gear maintains its precise tooth profile throughout its service life.
- CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth is machined using precision CNC equipment to achieve ultra-precise tooth shaping and ultra-true running characteristics, which eliminates vibration and noise that can occur with poorly manufactured gears.
- 64 DP Gear Pitch Specification — This pinion is engineered to work with all cars that use 64 DP spur gears, making it a versatile choice for tuning a wide range of modern electric RC vehicles in the UK RC hobby market.
- 29-Tooth Configuration — The 29-tooth count offers a specific gear ratio ideal for particular track conditions and driving preferences, allowing you to customise your RC car's performance to match your specific requirements.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — The pinion is designed to fit standard 3.17mm diameter motor shafts, which are the industry-standard size for most modern brushless and brushed electric RC car motors.
- Permanent Tooth Identification Marking — Each pinion is marked with its tooth number, allowing for quick and easy identification when you're changing gears, storing spare components, or troubleshooting your drivetrain setup.
- Made in Europe — This gear is manufactured in Europe to high quality standards, providing peace of mind that you're purchasing a component engineered and produced to exacting specifications.
- Compact Short Profile — The short-length design minimises axial play in your gearbox whilst providing adequate tooth contact area for smooth power transmission and reduced wear.
Technical Performance
The Corally C-71329 pinion gear represents a significant step up in drivetrain quality for any RC car enthusiast. Manufactured from special hardened steel using CNC precision cutting technology, this gear delivers the ultra-precise tooth shaping and concentricity tolerances that professional and semi-professional RC racers demand. The 64 DP specification means the teeth are precisely sized to mesh smoothly with standard 64 DP spur gears found on thousands of electric RC cars, buggies, trucks and crawlers throughout the UK RC hobby community. With 29 teeth and a 3.17mm bore, this pinion is optimised for a specific gear ratio that affects both your vehicle's acceleration characteristics and top speed potential. The teeth width of 4.00mm and total gear length of 9.00mm provide an optimal contact area for power transmission whilst maintaining the short-profile design preferred by modern gearbox engineering. The hardened steel material and CNC manufacturing process ensure that the pinion maintains its precise concentricity throughout extended use, eliminating the vibration and drivetrain noise that can develop with lower-quality gears. Installation requires only a 1.5mm hex key, making gear changes straightforward for RC enthusiasts who regularly tune their vehicles. Whether you're upgrading an existing RC car or building a new setup, choosing quality gears like the Corally pinion is one of the most effective ways to improve overall drivetrain smoothness, reliability and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why is it important for RC cars? — The pinion gear is the small gear mounted on your electric motor's shaft that meshes with the larger spur gear in your RC car's transmission. Together, these two gears form the drivetrain and determine your vehicle's gear ratio, which directly affects acceleration and top speed. A higher pinion tooth count (like this 29T) provides lower gearing for better acceleration and torque, whilst lower tooth counts give higher top speed. Upgrading to a quality pinion like the Corally ensures smooth, efficient power transmission with minimal vibration.
- Will the Corally 29-tooth pinion fit my RC car? — This pinion is compatible with any RC car that uses 64 DP gears and has a 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. Most modern electric RC cars, buggies, trucks and crawlers manufactured in the last decade use the 64 DP specification, but you should verify your vehicle's specifications before purchasing. Check your RC car's documentation or contact the manufacturer if you're unsure.
- What is the difference between this pinion and cheaper alternatives? — The Corally pinion uses hardened steel and CNC precision manufacturing to achieve ultra-precise tooth shaping and concentricity, whereas budget alternatives may use softer steel and simpler manufacturing processes. This precision means smoother operation, less vibration, quieter drivetrain noise, and significantly longer component lifespan. For serious RC enthusiasts, the small additional investment in quality gears pays dividends in performance and reliability.
- How do I know which tooth count pinion to choose? — The tooth count you need depends on your driving style and track layout. Lower tooth counts (fewer teeth) give higher top speed and lower torque, whilst higher tooth counts (more teeth) like this 29T give better acceleration and climbing ability but lower top speed. The Corally range offers pinions in all tooth counts, allowing you to find the perfect ratio for your needs. Many RC racers keep multiple pinion gears on hand to tune their setup for different tracks and conditions.
- Is this pinion suitable for beginners? — Yes, whilst the Corally pinion is premium-quality equipment favoured by experienced racers, it's suitable for any RC enthusiast regardless of skill level. Upgrading to quality drivetrain components early in your hobby journey is actually a smart investment that will give you smoother, more reliable performance and help your vehicle last longer.
- How often will I need to replace this pinion? — With proper maintenance and lubrication, a quality hardened steel pinion like the Corally should last hundreds of hours of driving. When you do eventually need replacement, keeping spare gears of different tooth counts on hand allows you to experiment with gear ratios to optimise your RC car's performance.
