Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from specially hardened steel that provides exceptional toughness and durability, ensuring the gear teeth withstand the extreme forces and stresses generated during high-speed driving, aggressive acceleration, and competitive racing without cracking, stripping, or premature wear.
- CNC-Cut Teeth for Perfect Geometry — Every tooth is cut using precision CNC machinery, which ensures perfect tooth shape and concentricity, meaning the gear runs perfectly true with no run-out, resulting in vibration-free operation that improves handling, reduces noise, and extends drivetrain component lifespan.
- Ultra-Precise Manufacturing Tolerances — The pinion is created using a special gear machine with ultra-precise tooth shaping and ultra-true running characteristics, guaranteeing that each gear meets exacting quality standards and performs identically to every other gear in the range, essential for consistent performance across multiple racing events.
- 64 DP Module Specification — The 64 DP (Diametral Pitch) rating means this pinion integrates seamlessly with all transmission systems designed around the 64DP standard, ensuring smooth meshing with spur gears and trouble-free installation into your RC car's drivetrain without modification or adjustment.
- 23-Tooth Configuration — The 23-tooth count offers an aggressive gearing option that provides higher top speed and more responsive acceleration, ideal for wide-open spaces, high-speed tracks, or drivers who prefer a faster, more thrilling driving experience with their brushless RC car or electric RC car.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the standard fitting for most modern brushless motor systems, ensuring this pinion works with the vast majority of contemporary RC cars, trucks, buggies, and other radio-controlled vehicles without requiring adapters or modification.
- Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is marked with the tooth number printed directly on the gear body, allowing you to instantly identify the correct gear ratio during setup, maintenance, or when swapping gears between different track conditions, saving time and eliminating confusion.
- Available in Complete Range — The Corally pinion range includes all common tooth counts and gearing sizes, allowing you to find the perfect gear ratio for any track condition, weather, surface type, or driving preference, from ultra-conservative low-speed gearing to aggressive high-speed setups.
- European Manufacturing Quality — Made in Europe to exacting quality standards, this component benefits from decades of precision engineering expertise and represents the commitment to excellence that defines the Team Corally brand across the RC hobby worldwide.
- Vibration-Free Operation — The combination of hardened steel construction, CNC precision cutting, and ultra-true running characteristics ensures the pinion operates without vibration, which translates directly to improved traction, better handling, faster lap times, and a more enjoyable driving experience.
Technical Performance
The Corally C-71323 pinion gear represents the convergence of advanced materials science and precision manufacturing technology. Engineered from special hardened steel, this component has been subjected to heat treatment processes that enhance its molecular structure, creating a gear that can withstand the extreme stresses generated by modern brushless motors and high-powered RC car drivetrains. The 23-tooth configuration, combined with the 64 DP specification, delivers a gear ratio suitable for drivers seeking higher top speeds and more aggressive acceleration characteristics. The 3.17mm shaft diameter accommodates the majority of brushless motors commonly used in 1/10 scale and other RC vehicles popular throughout the UK RC hobby community. With a tooth width of 4.00mm and overall gear length of 9.00mm, the pinion integrates perfectly into standard transmission housings without requiring modification. The 1.5mm hex key size for installation makes fitting straightforward, and the ultra-precise CNC cutting ensures every tooth is perfectly shaped with zero run-out, meaning the gear meshes smoothly with the spur gear, eliminating the vibration and noise that can develop with inferior components. This level of precision engineering directly translates into superior performance, extended component lifespan, and more consistent lap times whether you're competing in sanctioned RC car races or enjoying casual weekend bashing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 64 DP and other pinion pitch specifications? — DP (Diametral Pitch) refers to the tooth density of a gear, with higher numbers indicating finer, smaller teeth. The 64 DP specification determines how the pinion meshes with your spur gear and transmission system. Different DP values are not interchangeable, so you must verify your RC car uses 64DP gears before purchasing. The 64 DP standard is widely used in modern RC cars, particularly in competitive racing setups.
- How do I choose the correct pinion tooth count for my track? — Pinion tooth count directly affects your vehicle's top speed and acceleration. More teeth (higher numbers) provide lower top speed but better acceleration and torque; fewer teeth provide higher top speed with less acceleration. The 23-tooth option is considered aggressive gearing for maximum speed. Most drivers keep several pinions in different tooth counts to adjust their setup for different track layouts, weather conditions, and surface types.
- Is the Corally C-71323 suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement spare part rather than a complete drivetrain component, so it's not designed for beginners just starting with RC cars. However, once you understand your RC car's transmission system and are ready to customise your gearing for performance, this pinion is an excellent choice due to its reliability and precision. Beginners should first familiarise themselves with their vehicle's current gearing before attempting to swap components.
- What makes this pinion better than cheaper alternatives? — The special hardened steel construction, CNC precision cutting, and ultra-true running characteristics of the Corally pinion deliver several advantages over budget alternatives. The hardened steel resists tooth stripping and premature wear, the CNC cutting ensures vibration-free operation, and the precision tolerances guarantee consistent performance across your entire RC vehicle fleet. These factors directly translate into longer component lifespan, faster lap times, and better overall driving experience.
- Which RC cars use 64DP gears? — The 64DP standard is common across many modern 1/10 scale electric RC cars and brushless RC cars from various manufacturers. Before purchasing, verify your specific vehicle uses 64DP transmission components. You can check your vehicle's manual or contact your RC car dealer to confirm compatibility.
- Can I use this pinion with different motor shaft sizes? — No. This pinion is specifically designed for 3.17mm motor shafts and will not fit larger (such as 5mm) or smaller shaft diameters. Attempting to force it onto an incompatible shaft will damage both the pinion and your motor. Always verify your motor shaft size before ordering.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Pinion lifespan depends on driving intensity, track surface, and maintenance. The hardened steel construction of this Corally gear extends longevity significantly, but high-competition drivers may replace them after 10-20 hours of hard driving. Casual drivers may get 50+ hours of use. Inspect your pinion regularly for tooth wear, chips, or deformation, and replace if damage is visible.
- What hex key size do I need to install this pinion? — The installation hardware requires a 1.5mm hex key (Allen wrench). Ensure you have the correct size before beginning installation to avoid stripping the set screw and damaging the pinion.
