Overview

The Savox SG0351+ is a standard size digital servo that combines affordability with reliable performance, making it an excellent choice for RC enthusiasts across the UK looking to upgrade or build their RC models. Whether you're setting up a throttle servo for a park flyer aeroplane, configuring control surfaces on a fixed-wing aircraft, or integrating servo control into a small-scale RC car or boat, this digital servo delivers the precision and durability you need. Savox has established itself as a trusted name in the RC hobby, and the SG0351+ represents their commitment to providing high-quality components at competitive prices that won't break the bank.

This servo stands out because it combines industrial-grade plastic gears with dual bearing support—a feature normally found in more expensive models. The result is a servo that operates smoothly and quietly whilst maintaining exceptional precision over thousands of hours of use. The brushless motor design ensures longevity and reliability, whilst the digital control electronics deliver consistent response and accuracy. For park flyers, throttle control applications, and lightweight RC aircraft, the SG0351+ is purpose-built to perform.

The SG0351+ features Savox's new Soft Start Mode and Sanwa SSR compatibility, making it an ideal choice for modern RC setups. These enhancements give you greater flexibility when integrating this servo into your existing radio system. Whether you're a seasoned RC pilot with dozens of aircraft to your name or a newcomer discovering the world of RC for the first time, the SG0351+ offers the performance and reliability you deserve.

Key Features

  • Dual Bearing Support — The SG0351+ features two ball bearings (2BB) in its output shaft, which dramatically increases precision and durability compared to single-bearing designs. This dual bearing configuration distributes loads more evenly, reducing wear and extending the servo's operational lifespan, making it a smart long-term investment for any RC enthusiast.
  • Industrial Plastic Gears — The servo uses robust industrial-grade plastic gears that provide smooth, quiet operation without the weight penalty of metal alternatives. These gears are precisely engineered for consistent mesh and minimal backlash, ensuring your control surfaces respond exactly as intended every time you move the transmitter stick.
  • Brushless Motor Design — Unlike older brushed motors, the brushless motor technology in the SG0351+ eliminates carbon brush wear, meaning no maintenance, longer service life, and more consistent performance throughout the servo's operational range. This is why modern RC servos are more reliable than ever before.
  • Soft Start Mode — The new Soft Start Mode included in the Plus series reduces mechanical shock on startup, protecting delicate control linkages and extending component lifespan. This is particularly valuable in park flyer aeroplanes where weight is critical and durability is essential.
  • Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The SG0351+ works seamlessly with Sanwa SSR radio systems, giving you greater flexibility when choosing your RC transmitter and ensuring easy integration into modern RC setups without compatibility headaches.
  • Environmentally Friendly Construction — Savox has implemented strict production and quality control of plastic components, ensuring these servos are manufactured using environmentally responsible materials and processes. When you choose the SG0351+, you're supporting sustainable RC hobby practices.
  • 25 Tooth Spline Output — The standard 25 tooth spline is the most common servo horn connection in the RC industry, meaning you'll have no shortage of compatible horns, linkages, and mechanical control options available from any RC retailer in the UK.
  • Compact Standard Size — At just 40.7 x 20.0 x 37.0mm and weighing only 41.0 grams, the SG0351+ fits perfectly into tight spaces without adding unnecessary weight. This makes it ideal for weight-conscious applications like park flyer aeroplanes and lightweight RC models.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range — The servo operates reliably between -10°C and 50°C, meaning it will perform consistently whether you're flying on a cold winter's day in Scotland or during a hot summer afternoon in southern England.
  • 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty — Every SG0351+ is backed by Savox's comprehensive 1 year warranty, giving you complete peace of mind that your investment is protected against manufacturing defects.

Technical Performance

The SG0351+ delivers impressive performance metrics that punch well above its price point. At 6.0V, this servo produces 4.1kg of torque (56.9 oz-in), which is more than sufficient for throttle control on park flyer aeroplanes, control surface operation on fixed-wing RC aircraft, and lightweight RC car servo applications. The response speed is equally impressive at 0.17 seconds per 60 degrees of rotation at 6.0V, meaning control inputs are executed with minimal latency—critical for maintaining stable flight or responsive handling in any RC model. The servo accepts a wide pulse width range from 800 to 2200 microseconds with a neutral position at 1500 microseconds, providing approximately 164 degrees of maximum travel capability. The 240Hz refresh rate ensures extremely smooth and responsive control, making micro-adjustments feel natural and intuitive. The brushless motor architecture combined with dual ball bearing support guarantees smooth operation without gear chatter, whilst the industrial plastic gears provide the perfect balance between weight savings and durability. Running current draws are reasonable at just 120mA under no-load conditions at 6.0V, with stall current at 1000mA when fully locked—well within the capabilities of modern radio receiver batteries and BEC systems. The servo's 300mm ±5mm cable length provides flexibility when routing servo leads through your RC model's fuselage or chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What voltage should I run the SG0351+ at for best performance? — The servo is rated for operation between 4.8V and 6.0V. Running at 6.0V provides maximum torque (4.1kg) and speed (0.17sec/60°), making it ideal for most applications. If you're using a 4.8V receiver battery pack, the servo will still function reliably, though with slightly reduced performance at 3.2kg torque and 0.22sec/60°. Most modern RC setups use 6.0V, so running at the higher voltage is recommended.
  • Is the SG0351+ suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The SG0351+ is an economical servo that doesn't compromise on quality or reliability. Beginners will appreciate the straightforward 25 tooth spline connection, the wide pulse width compatibility with any standard RC receiver, and the straightforward installation process. The dual bearing support and brushless motor mean you're getting professional-grade reliability without a professional-grade price tag.
  • What radio systems work with the SG0351+? — The SG0351+ is compatible with any standard RC receiver that outputs a PPM (pulse position modulation) servo signal. This includes Futaba, Spektrum, Sanwa, JR, Multiplex, and virtually every other RC transmitter and receiver combination available in the UK. The servo also features specific compatibility with Sanwa SSR systems, making it an excellent choice if you're using Sanwa equipment.
  • How do I connect the servo to my RC model? — The SG0351+ uses a standard 3-wire servo connector (signal, power, ground) that plugs directly into your RC receiver's servo port. The 25 tooth spline output accepts any standard servo horn, which then connects to your control surface via a push rod or cable system depending on your model type.
  • What is the difference between the SG0351+ and the standard SG0351? — The SG0351+ (Plus version) includes Soft Start Mode and Sanwa SSR compatibility, making it more compatible with modern radio systems. The standard SG0351 is now discontinued, so the SG0351+ represents the current generation of this servo. The Soft Start Mode reduces mechanical shock during startup, protecting delicate linkages and extending component life.
  • Can I use spare parts from other Savox servos? — Some components are interchangeable across the Savox range, but it's always best to use genuine Savox spare parts designed for the SG0351+. Spare parts are available separately, including the Servo Gear Set with Bearings (SGSG0351) and Top & Bottom Servo Case with Screws (CSG0351), both designed specifically for this model.
  • What power source does the servo need? — The SG0351+ requires 4.8V to 6.0V DC power, which is typically provided by the BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit) integrated into your RC receiver. Most modern receivers include a BEC that reduces the main LiPo battery voltage down to the required servo voltage. For receivers without an internal BEC, you can use a standalone BEC unit or a dedicated receiver battery pack.
  • Is the SG0351+ waterproof? — The SG0351+ is not fully waterproof, though it can handle light rain and splashes in typical park flyer or RC aircraft applications. If you're planning water-based RC operations, you should consider applying servo-specific waterproofing treatments or selecting a servo specifically designed for marine environments.
