Overview
The Method RC Velociter Belted On-Road Tyres on Hive Rims represent a significant advancement in large-scale RC performance, delivering professional-grade handling characteristics for serious hobbyists and competitive racers. These 1/7 scale tyres come pre-mounted on injection-moulded Hive wheels with 17mm hex hubs, offering an out-of-the-box solution that eliminates the need for separate tyre mounting and gluing. Method RC has built a reputation over fifteen years of developing high-quality RC products for enthusiasts across the UK RC hobby scene, and these Velociter tyres showcase their commitment to combining performance, durability and value in a single package.
Designed specifically for on-road driving on asphalt and concrete surfaces, the Velociter Belted tyres address one of the most common performance issues in high-speed RC driving: tyre expansion and growth. Whether you're a weekend basher pushing your machine to the limit or a competitor seeking consistent lap times, these ready-to-mount tyres deliver the stable platform and predictable handling that separates good setups from great ones. The hand-laid belt-equipped construction and optimised rubber compound make these tyres equally suitable for ARRMA 1/7 platforms, ARRMA 1/8 models with fitment adjustments, or any large-scale on-road RC vehicle that accepts 17mm hex wheels.
With a total weight of just 168 grams per wheel and tyre assembly and dimensions of 100mm diameter by 54.1mm width, the Velociter Belted tyres deliver the lightweight responsiveness that modern RC drivers demand while maintaining the durability needed for extended bashings or race meetings. The distinctive M-channel tread pattern provides reliable grip on both smooth and textured road surfaces, whilst the thick carcass ensures a generous amount of drive time before wear becomes noticeable. For UK RC enthusiasts seeking a proven upgrade path for their on-road machines, these Velociter tyres represent a worthwhile investment in handling consistency and performance reliability.
Key Features
- Hand-Laid Belt-Equipped Construction — The innovative hand-laid belt system significantly reduces tyre expansion at high speed, creating a stable and consistent platform that maintains handling characteristics throughout your driving session. This virtually eliminates the unpredictable growth that causes uneven wear and degraded performance as speeds increase.
- Reduced Gyro Effect and Servo Load — By minimising tyre expansion, the Velociter belt-equipped design dramatically reduces the gyro effect that would otherwise stress your steering servo, driveline axles, plastic components and hub bearings. This means your entire drivetrain experiences less mechanical stress, improving reliability and extending component lifespan across your RC platform.
- Distinctive M-Channel Tread Design — The unique M-channel detail throughout the tyre tread provides neutral, all-around performance on both concrete and asphalt surfaces. This balanced tread pattern offers reliable grip on typical on-road surfaces without being specialised for a single surface type, making these tyres versatile enough for varied driving conditions.
- Optimised Rubber Compound — Relentlessly tested across various platforms, the Velociter rubber compound strikes a carefully balanced middle ground between maximum performance and long-wearing durability. This compound is specifically tuned for bashers who demand both speed and longevity, resisting premature wear whilst maintaining consistent grip throughout the tyre's service life.
- Thick Durable Carcass — The substantial carcass construction provides a generous amount of drive time before wear becomes limiting, meaning you'll enjoy extended bashings or multiple race heats before needing replacement tyres. This durability translates directly to better value for money and less frequent tyre changes.
- Injection-Moulded Hive Wheels — The one-piece injection-moulded Hive wheel design offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio with superior consistency compared to multi-piece wheel designs. The 17mm hex hub accepts standard RC driveshafts fitted to ARRMA vehicles and most large-scale on-road platforms without modification.
- Pre-Mounted and Ready to Run — These tyres arrive fully assembled on their wheels with foam inserts already fitted, eliminating the need for separate mounting, gluing or insert installation. This means you can mount them directly to your vehicle and hit the track or bashing spot immediately.
Technical Performance
The Velociter Belted On-Road Tyres deliver exceptional technical engineering focused on addressing the specific challenges of high-speed on-road RC driving. The hand-laid belt-equipped construction uses a carefully layered internal structure that constrains tyre growth more effectively than traditional non-belted designs. At the heart of this performance enhancement is the understanding that tyre expansion at speed creates multiple handling problems: it increases rolling diameter causing differential wear, it generates gyroscopic forces that multiply steering load on the servo, and it destabilises the vehicle's centre of gravity by changing ride height unpredictably throughout a run. The Velociter solution nearly eliminates these issues through its belt design, which maintains a consistent tyre profile from low speed bashings up through high-speed runs. The 100mm diameter and 54.1mm width specifications place these tyres in the optimal size range for 1/7 scale on-road vehicles, where they provide sufficient ground clearance whilst maintaining proportional contact patch geometry. The rubber compound has been extensively tested and refined to deliver the ideal balance of grip, durability and temperature stability across typical UK driving conditions, whether on smooth concrete or slightly textured asphalt surfaces. Each assembled wheel and tyre unit weighs just 168 grams, which is light enough to minimise unsprung mass for improved handling whilst remaining substantial enough to maintain proper traction and contact pressure on road surfaces. The 17mm hex hub design is standard across ARRMA 1/7 and 1/8 platforms, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of contemporary large-scale RC vehicles. Material quality throughout the Hive wheel is excellent, with the injection-moulded design eliminating the concentricity issues sometimes found in multi-piece wheels. For drivers seeking the tyre technology used in professional competitive RC environments, the Velociter Belted design represents that same engineering philosophy brought to the aftermarket for all enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these Velociter tyres fit my ARRMA vehicle and do I need any modifications? — These tyres feature 17mm hex hubs and are designed for ARRMA 1/7 platforms including the Infraction, Limitless and Felony models. For ARRMA 1/8 vehicles, fitment varies: they fit the Limitless and Infraction rear without any modifications and actually provide a meaner stance with enhanced traction bias. However, Felony owners should use the dedicated Felony rear tyres instead. Some 1/8 users may need to trim rear fender flares to accommodate the wider 54.1mm tyre profile, though no regearing is necessary as the 100mm diameter matches stock rear tyre sizes. If you're unsure about your specific model, we recommend contacting our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop for fitment confirmation.
- What makes belt-equipped tyres superior to standard non-belted tyres? — Belt-equipped tyres address one of the most significant handling challenges in high-speed RC driving: tyre expansion. As tyres heat up and speed increases, traditional non-belted tyres grow in diameter, which destabilises the vehicle by changing ride height, increases steering difficulty by multiplying gyroscopic forces on the servo, and causes uneven wear patterns. The Velociter's hand-laid belt construction nearly eliminates this expansion, maintaining a consistent tyre profile throughout your driving session. This results in more predictable handling characteristics, reduced strain on your servo and drivetrain components, and more consistent lap times or performance during competitive events.
- How long will these tyres last before I need to replace them? — The Velociter Belted tyres feature a thick durable carcass designed to provide a generous amount of drive time before wear becomes limiting. The optimised rubber compound balances performance with longevity, resisting premature degradation whilst maintaining consistent grip. Actual lifespan depends on your driving style, surface conditions, and speed. Competitive racers running consistently at high speeds may see different wear rates than recreational bashers. Generally, these tyres represent excellent value compared to premium racing slicks, as the durable compound extends the time between replacements.
- Are these tyres suitable for off-road use or only on-road surfaces? — These are specifically designed for on-road use on asphalt and concrete surfaces. The distinctive M-channel tread pattern provides neutral, all-around performance on these surfaces but is not optimised for off-road driving. Attempting to use these on dirt, gravel or grass will result in poor traction and rapid wear. If you require tyres for off-road large-scale RC vehicles, Method RC offers separate product lines specifically engineered for that purpose.
- What is the advantage of the M-channel tread design? — The distinctive M-channel detail throughout the tread provides balanced grip characteristics across varied on-road surfaces without being specialised for a single surface type. This means the tyres perform well on smooth racing surfaces, textured concrete, typical asphalt with minor variations, and even slightly dirty road surfaces. The neutral design philosophy makes these tyres versatile for different venues and conditions, rather than being optimised for only one specific surface texture.
- Do these come fully assembled and ready to mount? — Yes, these Velociter tyres arrive fully mounted on Hive wheels with foam inserts already installed. You simply mount the assembled tyre and wheel units to your vehicle's driveshafts using the 17mm hex connection. No separate mounting, gluing, or insert installation is required, making these a genuinely ready-to-run tyre option that saves significant preparation time.
- Can I use these tyres with a vehicle that doesn't have 17mm hex hubs? — These tyres are specifically designed for 17mm hex hub connections. If your RC vehicle uses a different hub size (such as 12mm, 14mm, or 24mm hex), you would need to use alternative tyres designed for your vehicle's specific hub specification. However, we stock a comprehensive range of Method RC and other premium tyre options for various scales and hub sizes, so please contact us to find the right fitment for your specific vehicle.
- What is the difference between these Velociter Belted tyres and other on-road tyre options available in the UK RC market? — The Velociter Belted tyres distinguish themselves through their hand-laid belt-equipped construction, which is a feature more commonly found in professional-grade competition tyres. Most standard aftermarket on-road tyres use traditional non-belted construction, which means they suffer from the expansion issues that the Velociter design specifically addresses. Additionally, the Velociter compound has been extensively tested and refined for the middle ground between pure racing performance and durable bashing longevity, making them versatile for various driving styles. The pre-mounted condition on quality Hive wheels eliminates separate tyre mounting labour and expense, delivering genuine ready-to-run convenience. For drivers seeking a significant upgrade in on-road handling consistency without the premium pricing of single-compound racing slicks, the Velociter Belted tyres represent exceptional value.
