Technical Performance

The SPM 3000mAh 2S 6.6V Li-Fe Receiver Battery represents the pinnacle of receiver power technology, engineered for aircraft applications where reliability and consistent performance are absolutely critical. At just 132 grams (4.6 ounces) and measuring a compact 70mm length × 50mm width × 21mm height, this battery delivers an exceptional power-to-weight ratio that makes it ideal for minimising aircraft loading whilst maintaining full operational capabilities. The dual-cell LiFe configuration operates at 6.6V nominal voltage, perfectly matching the input requirements of modern receiver systems without regulators or adapters. Built with premium-grade cells arranged in a parallel-fused configuration, the battery features Spektrum's proven LiFe chemistry which has been flight-tested across thousands of aircraft worldwide. The 16 AWG discharge wiring provides minimal resistance and heat generation during high-current servo operations, whilst the 150mm lead length offers optimal routing flexibility in tight fuselage spaces. The robust EC3 connector has become the industry standard for receiver applications, offering repeatable, low-resistance connections that maintain signal integrity and power delivery consistency flight after flight. With a 20C continuous discharge rate capability and 60A peak discharge current available on demand, this battery ensures that servo actuation remains crisp and responsive even during demanding aerobatic manoeuvres. The integrated JST-XH balance connector enables cell-level voltage monitoring, allowing contemporary digital chargers to maintain perfect cell balance and extend overall battery lifespan. Spektrum's advanced cell chemistry means the battery delivers strong voltage under load throughout its discharge cycle, eliminating the gradual voltage sag that compromises performance in the closing minutes of flight. Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between LiFe and LiPo receiver batteries? — LiFe (lithium iron phosphate) batteries offer significantly safer chemistry compared to older LiPo (lithium polymer) designs. LiFe cells are inherently more thermally stable, resist thermal runaway, and maintain more consistent voltage throughout the discharge cycle. LiFe batteries also have superior cycle life, often lasting 2-3 times longer than comparable LiPo cells. The trade-off is that LiFe cells have a lower energy density, which is why you'll notice slightly larger physical dimensions compared to equivalent capacity LiPo batteries. For receiver applications where safety and reliability are paramount, LiFe is the superior choice.
  • Is this battery suitable for my aircraft receiver? — The SPM 3000mAh 2S 6.6V LiFe battery is designed for universal receiver applications and aircraft ignition systems operating at 6V nominal voltage. If your receiver is rated for 6V, 5-6V, or 4-6V, this battery is directly compatible. However, if your receiver requires 4.8V (traditional four-cell NiMH) or 7.4V (2S LiPo), you will need a different battery. Always verify your receiver's voltage specification before purchasing.
  • How long does this battery take to charge? — Using the recommended 0.2C charging rate (600mA for this 3000mAh battery), a full charge from completely depleted takes approximately 5 hours. However, the battery supports up to 1C charging rate (3.0A maximum), which reduces charge time to approximately 1 hour if your charger supports this rate. Always follow your charger manufacturer's recommendations and LiFe charging protocols to ensure safety and maximum lifespan.
  • What charger do I need for LiFe batteries? — You must use a charger specifically programmed for lithium iron phosphate (LiFe) chemistry. Standard lithium polymer (LiPo) chargers will not correctly charge LiFe cells and may cause cell damage or charging errors. Contemporary digital RC chargers from brands like Spektrum, iCharger, and others include specific LiFe charging modes. Set your charger to LiFe mode, confirm the cell count (2S), and charge at your preferred rate (0.2C for safety or up to 1C if time is limited).
  • Can I use this battery in multiple aircraft? — Absolutely. The EC3 connector and 150mm discharge lead make installation straightforward in most aircraft designs. Many pilots keep one battery charged and move it between aircraft throughout a flying session. The compact size (70mm × 50mm × 21mm) fits easily in most fuselage battery compartments.
  • What is the 19.8Wh specification? — Watt hours (Wh) is a measure of total energy content, calculated by multiplying voltage (6.6V) by capacity (3000mAh). This tells you the total energy the battery stores. Higher Wh ratings mean longer flight times, all else being equal.
  • How many flight hours will this battery provide? — Flight time depends entirely on your receiver's current draw, which varies based on how many servos you're operating, how actively you're using them, and receiver type. Typical modern receivers draw 150-300mA during normal flight. With 3000mAh capacity, you can expect 10-20 hours of receiver runtime, meaning you could fly dozens of flights before needing a recharge.
  • Does this battery have built-in protection circuitry? — According to specifications, this battery does not include internal protection circuitry. This is typical for aircraft receiver batteries where weight minimisation is critical and reliable charger operation is assumed. Always use a quality charger with appropriate LiFe safety features and never leave the battery unattended during charging.
  • Is there a hard case included? — No, this battery does not include a hard protective case. However, the durable cell construction and connector design provide adequate protection for normal use. Many pilots choose to store batteries in soft pouches or foam cases for additional protection during transport and storage.
