Overview

The Etronix Pulse FHSS Receiver 2.4GHz (ET1166) is a compact and reliable radio receiver designed specifically for the Etronix ET1109 EX4S transmitter system. This 2.4GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum receiver represents modern radio control technology, offering secure and interference-free operation for RC car enthusiasts across the UK. Whether you're running a basic surface model for weekend bashing or need a dependable replacement receiver, this component delivers professional-grade performance in a space-saving package that fits neatly into tight chassis layouts.

Radio systems are the nervous system of any radio-controlled model, and choosing the right receiver is crucial for reliable operation on the track, trail or in your garden. The Etronix Pulse FHSS receiver combines proven 2.4GHz technology with a low-profile design that makes installation straightforward even in models where space is at a premium. Its compact footprint means you can keep your wiring tidy and your weight distribution optimal, two factors that make a real difference to how your RC car performs and handles.

This receiver is an ideal spare component for existing Etronix EX4S system owners, or an essential upgrade if you're building a new RC car and want to ensure you have compatible electronics. RC enthusiasts across the UK trust Etronix products for their build quality, reliability and value for money. The Pulse FHSS receiver is no exception, offering a no-nonsense solution for anyone serious about radio-controlled hobby cars.

Key Features

  • 2.4GHz FHSS Operation — This receiver operates on the 2.4GHz frequency band using frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, which means you get interference-free operation even in environments with multiple RC users or Wi-Fi networks operating nearby, making it ideal for UK flying fields, racing clubs and public spaces where radio congestion can be an issue.
  • Compact Form Factor — Measuring just 31mm long, 20mm wide and 13mm tall, this receiver has an extremely small footprint that fits easily into tight chassis layouts and confined spaces within your RC model, helping you achieve a cleaner installation with minimal cable routing complexity.
  • EX4S Transmitter Compatibility — Specifically designed to work with the Etronix ET1109 EX4S 4-channel transmitter, this receiver ensures perfect pairing and reliable communication between your radio system components, eliminating compatibility concerns and guesswork.
  • Low-Profile Case Design — The receiver features a discrete, low-profile housing that sits neatly in your model without adding unnecessary bulk or creating installation headaches, particularly important for compact RC cars where every millimetre of space matters.
  • Straightforward Installation — The compact design and standard connector placement make installation straightforward, even for builders who are relatively new to RC hobby cars and may be tackling their first custom build or receiver upgrade.

Technical Performance

The Etronix Pulse FHSS Receiver demonstrates solid engineering principles in its construction. Operating on the secure and reliable 2.4GHz frequency band with frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, this receiver delivers the kind of performance you'd expect from established RC radio systems. The physical dimensions of 31mm length, 20mm width and 13mm height make it one of the more space-efficient receiver options available, which is particularly valuable when building compact RC cars where chassis space is at a premium. The low-profile case design ensures that installation doesn't require major modifications to your model's internal layout, and the standard connector interfaces mean it integrates seamlessly with other quality RC components. Build quality is solid throughout, with the receiver featuring robust internal circuitry capable of handling the demands of regular RC use. Whether you're running your model in a park, on a race track, or at a dedicated RC facility across the UK, this receiver provides the stable, interference-free operation that serious hobbyists demand from their radio systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Etronix Pulse FHSS Receiver compatible with other Etronix transmitters? — No, this receiver (ET1166) is specifically designed for use with the Etronix ET1109 EX4S transmitter. If you own a different Etronix transmitter model such as the ET1111, you will need a different receiver (such as the ET1165). Always verify transmitter and receiver compatibility before purchasing to ensure your radio system components work together correctly.
  • What does FHSS mean and why does it matter for RC cars? — FHSS stands for Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum. This technology makes your RC radio system more secure and resistant to interference by constantly switching between different frequencies within the 2.4GHz band. This is particularly useful if you're racing or operating your RC car at a UK club event where multiple radio systems are in use simultaneously, as FHSS helps prevent one system from interfering with another.
  • How small is this receiver and will it fit in my RC car? — The receiver measures 31mm in length, 20mm in width and 13mm in height, making it one of the more compact receiver options available. This compact size means it will fit into most RC car chassis designs without requiring major modifications, though you should still check your specific model's available space before ordering.
  • Is this a suitable receiver for beginners? — Yes, the Etronix Pulse FHSS receiver is straightforward to install and use, making it suitable for hobbyists new to RC cars. If you already own an Etronix EX4S transmitter system, simply plugging in this receiver (after proper binding procedures) will get your model up and running without complicated setup requirements.
  • Can I use this receiver with the EX4G transmitter? — No, this receiver is not compatible with the EX4G transmitter. If you need a receiver for an EX4G system, you will require a different model (ET1154). Always check your transmitter model before ordering a replacement or spare receiver.
  • What frequency does this receiver operate on? — This receiver operates on the 2.4GHz frequency band, which is the modern standard for RC hobby use across the UK and internationally. The 2.4GHz band offers excellent range, interference resistance through FHSS technology, and is the frequency band used by the vast majority of contemporary RC radio systems.
