Key Features
- Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion gear is manufactured from premium hardened steel, which significantly increases durability and wear resistance compared to standard materials, ensuring this component will maintain precise tolerances and smooth engagement even after thousands of miles of hard driving on your RC car.
- 32DP Specification — This industry-standard 32 diametral pitch specification ensures broad compatibility with a huge range of RC buggies, trucks and other electric-powered RC vehicles available in the UK, making this a versatile upgrade choice for your hobby collection.
- 13-Tooth Configuration — The 13-tooth count provides a balanced gearing ratio that delivers both responsive acceleration and respectable top-end speed, making this pinion suitable for a variety of racing and bashing applications.
- 3.17mm Shaft Diameter — This standard shaft diameter ensures perfect fitment with compatible motor shafts and drivetrain components across numerous RC car platforms and brands, guaranteeing trouble-free installation and reliable power transmission.
- Short Profile Design — The short-profile design maximises ground clearance and reduces the overall footprint of the drivetrain, allowing for improved chassis geometry and better weight distribution on your RC vehicle.
- RTR Ready Configuration — This component is pre-configured and ready for immediate installation without additional modifications or tuning, allowing you to get your RC car or buggy back on the track or course in minutes.
- Premium Quality Assurance — Every Corally pinion gear undergoes rigorous quality control and testing before leaving the factory, guaranteeing that each component meets the exacting standards demanded by serious RC racers and enthusiasts across the United Kingdom.
Technical Performance
The Corally RTR 32 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 13 Teeth component represents the pinnacle of precision engineering in RC drivetrain design. The hardened steel material undergoes specialist heat-treatment processes that dramatically increase surface hardness and resistance to the inevitable wear and tear that occurs during aggressive driving, high-speed racing and competitive bashings. The 32DP pitch specification is the industry standard for modern 1/10 scale RC cars and buggies, ensuring compatibility with motor pinions, spur gears and other drivetrain components from across the Corally range and many competing manufacturers. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is a globally-recognised standard that fits seamlessly with brushless and brushed motor shafts common in UK RC hobby shops and racing clubs. With 13 teeth, this pinion occupies the mid-range of the available tooth counts, providing an excellent balance between low-end torque and high-end speed — the perfect compromise for drivers who want responsive acceleration without sacrificing top speed. The short-profile design minimises excess material while maintaining full structural integrity, keeping overall weight down and improving the chassis geometry of your RC vehicle. Whether you're upgrading an aging pinion gear on your existing RC buggy or building a complete drivetrain assembly for a new car, this Corally component delivers the precision, durability and performance that serious UK RC hobbyists and racers depend on. The RTR specification means this pinion is pre-checked and configured to factory specifications, eliminating the guesswork from component selection and installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 32DP mean and why does it matter for my RC car? — DP stands for diametral pitch, which is the standard measurement used to specify gear sizing in RC applications. 32DP is the most common pitch for 1/10 scale RC buggies, cars and trucks used in the UK. It determines how the pinion gear will mesh with your spur gear and drivetrain components. Using the correct DP specification ensures smooth, quiet power transmission and prevents damaging misalignment or grinding sounds during acceleration and braking.
- Is the 13-tooth pinion suitable for both racing and bashing? — Yes, absolutely. The 13-tooth configuration offers a balanced tooth count that suits both competitive racing and casual bashing applications. With 13 teeth, you get adequate low-end torque for quick acceleration off the line, whilst still maintaining reasonable top speed for straightaways. If you want more torque and shorter acceleration times, consider stepping down to 11 or 12 teeth; if you want higher top speed, step up to 14 or 15 teeth. The beauty of Corally's comprehensive range is that you can fine-tune your gearing to match your specific driving style and course layout.
- What shaft diameter do I need for my RC car? — The 3.17mm shaft diameter specified on this pinion is the industry standard for most modern 1/10 scale RC cars and buggies available in the UK. This measurement refers to the diameter of the motor shaft that the pinion slides onto. Always verify that your motor has a 3.17mm shaft before purchasing; using the wrong shaft diameter will result in poor fitment and potential drivetrain damage. If your motor has a different shaft size, Corally offers alternative pinion specifications across their comprehensive product range.
- How do I know if my pinion gear needs replacement? — Replace your pinion gear if you notice visible chipping or cracking on the teeth, excessive noise or grinding sounds during acceleration, inconsistent power delivery, or stripped teeth that are badly worn. A damaged pinion reduces efficiency and can damage other drivetrain components. The hardened steel construction of this Corally pinion extends service life compared to standard materials, but even quality gears eventually wear out with heavy use. Regular inspection and maintenance keep your RC car running smoothly.
- What is the difference between this RTR model and the standard C-71513? — The C-71513-R designation indicates this is the RTR (Ready-To-Run) variant, which means it comes pre-checked and configured to factory specifications for immediate installation without additional adjustments. The standard C-71513 model is identically engineered but without the pre-configuration steps. Both use identical hardened steel construction and 32DP 13-tooth specification. The RTR version simplifies the buying and installation process for customers who want to minimise setup time.
- Will this pinion work on my Corally RC model? — This 32DP pinion is designed for Corally RC cars and is fully compatible with the Corally RTR range. The 3.17mm shaft diameter and 13-tooth count are standard specifications across most Corally models. However, pinion compatibility depends on your specific vehicle model and its motor specification. Contact our team at RC Model Shop to confirm fitment with your particular RC car or buggy, and we'll ensure you select the correct component for a perfect installation.
