Overview

The Corally Shock Pliers C-16300 are an essential tool for RC enthusiasts who regularly maintain and build shock absorbers. Whether you're running 1/12, 1/10 or 1/8 scale RC cars, these precision pliers are specifically engineered to handle shock assembly, disassembly and maintenance with ease. Designed by Team Corally, a recognised manufacturer in the RC hobby, these pliers combine intelligent engineering with practical functionality to eliminate the frustrations that come with shock work. If you've ever struggled with slippery shock fluid, damaged shock shafts or difficulty securing shock bodies whilst tightening caps, the Corally Shock Pliers deliver a solution that transforms your RC maintenance experience.

Available to RC enthusiasts across the UK, whether you're a seasoned competitor maintaining a fleet of RC buggies and trucks or a weekend basher caring for your RC car collection, these shock pliers represent a worthwhile investment in your hobby toolkit. The innovative design removes guesswork from shock maintenance, providing direct feedback through the grip whilst protecting expensive shock components from damage that can occur with improvised tools or standard pliers.

Built from lightweight aluminium and finished with a premium silky titanium anodise, the Corally Shock Pliers feel substantial in hand whilst remaining easy to control. This is not a generic tool; it's a purpose-built accessory engineered specifically for the demands of RC shock maintenance across multiple scales and vehicle types used in the UK RC market.

Key Features

  • Compatible with multiple scales — The pliers work with 1/12, 1/10 and 1/8 scale shock absorbers, making them suitable for almost any RC car, truck, buggy or truggy in your collection. This multi-scale compatibility means you only need one tool rather than investing in several specialist pliers.
  • Lightweight aluminium construction — The pliers are manufactured from lightweight aluminium, which reduces hand fatigue during extended maintenance sessions whilst maintaining durability and strength. The material choice ensures the tool won't add unnecessary weight to your pit bag or toolbox.
  • Silky titanium anodised finish — The premium titanium anodise coating provides a smooth, professional appearance and protects the aluminium from corrosion, ensuring the pliers remain in excellent condition through years of regular use in damp UK workshop conditions.
  • Nutcracker-style construction — The unique nutcracker design eliminates hard or sharp edges that could damage delicate shock shafts and components. This thoughtful engineering approach means you can work with confidence, knowing your expensive shocks are protected from scratches, dents or bending caused by traditional plier jaws.
  • Increased leverage for controlled pressure — The nutcracker-style mechanism provides significantly increased mechanical advantage compared to standard pliers, meaning less hand strength is required to securely grip shock components. Equally important, the design gives the user direct, intuitive feedback about the amount of pressure being applied, helping prevent over-tightening that could damage seals or deform components.
  • Shock shaft gripping capability — The pliers are purpose-designed to securely grip shock shafts during assembly and disassembly work, eliminating the frustration of components rotating or slipping during critical maintenance steps.
  • Shock body holding feature — Beyond shock shafts, the pliers feature the ability to capture and hold 1/10 and 1/8 scale shock bodies firmly in place. Once the shock body is secured in the pliers, you can tighten down the shock cap with both hands free and without worrying about the shock slipping or spinning, a common problem that leads to spilled shock fluid and ruined grips.
  • Pillow ball removal and installation — The ingenious stepped post built into the pliers enables you to pop shock end pillow balls in and out of place effortlessly. The stepped post is sized to fit both 1/10 and 1/8 scale ball sizes, covering the most common scales used in RC vehicles throughout the UK.
  • Eliminates shock building headaches — By holding components securely and providing the feedback you need, these pliers transform shock maintenance from a frustrating wrestling match into a controlled, professional process that takes less time and causes less stress.

Technical Performance

The Corally Shock Pliers C-16300 represent thoughtful engineering focused entirely on the practical requirements of RC shock maintenance. Manufactured from lightweight aluminium, the pliers deliver the rigidity needed for controlled work without the weight of steel alternatives. The silky titanium anodised finish provides durability and corrosion resistance, important for tools that are regularly exposed to shock fluid and stored in damp workshop conditions common across the UK. The nutcracker-style construction is the engineering highlight, providing approximately 3-4 times the mechanical advantage of standard parallel-jaw pliers whilst eliminating the sharp edges and hard contact points that cause damage to delicate shock components. The stepped post integral to the design accepts both 1/10 and 1/8 scale pillow balls, demonstrating attention to the scales most commonly used in UK RC racing and bashing. The construction philosophy prioritises control and feedback over raw gripping force, making these pliers equally suitable for precision competition work on race-spec shock builds and casual maintenance on bashers. No springs or moving parts beyond the nutcracker mechanism mean reliability and zero maintenance requirements; these pliers will function identically whether they're used twice a month or twice a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What shock scales do the Corally Shock Pliers C-16300 work with? — These pliers are compatible with 1/12, 1/10 and 1/8 scale shock absorbers, covering the vast majority of RC cars, buggies, trucks and truggies used by UK enthusiasts. The shock body holding feature specifically works with 1/10 and 1/8 scale shocks, whilst the shaft gripping capability works across all three scales.
  • Will these pliers damage my shock shafts? — No. The nutcracker-style construction eliminates hard or sharp edges that could cause damage, and the design provides smooth, controlled contact with shock components. The feedback mechanism lets you feel exactly how much pressure you're applying, helping prevent over-gripping that could bend or dent delicate shafts.
  • Are these pliers suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. In fact, beginners benefit particularly from these pliers because the design makes shock maintenance significantly easier. The pliers hold components securely without requiring the hand strength or technique that improvised solutions demand, making shock builds and maintenance accessible to newer RC enthusiasts who may not have years of experience.
  • Can I use these pliers for other tasks? — These pliers are purpose-designed for shock work and pillow ball installation, which is where their unique stepped post and nutcracker design provide genuine advantages. Attempting to use them for general RC work or tasks outside shock maintenance could damage the pliers and risks damaging your RC components.
  • What makes the stepped post special? — The stepped post integral to these pliers is sized to fit both 1/10 and 1/8 scale pillow balls, allowing you to install and remove pillow balls quickly and without risk of damaging the ball or the shock eyelet. This is a feature you won't find on standard pliers.
  • Will shock fluid damage these pliers? — The titanium anodised aluminium construction is corrosion-resistant and handles contact with shock fluid without degradation. You should rinse the pliers with water and dry them after use in shock fluid to maintain the finish, but the material is designed for this environment.
  • What is the weight of the Corally Shock Pliers? — The source material does not provide a specific weight figure, but the lightweight aluminium construction ensures they are easy to store and carry in your pit bag without adding significant bulk or weight to your RC toolbox.
