Overview
The Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons, 2.0mm, 2 x 1.7 (AS91937) are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers in the UK who demand consistency and reliability from their RC car setups. These genuine Factory Team components represent the pinnacle of suspension tuning technology, allowing you to fine-tune your shock response with absolute precision. Whether you're preparing for a race weekend or simply wanting to optimise your RC buggy or truck's handling characteristics, these shock pistons are essential spares that deliver the performance edge serious competitors need.
Manufactured by Team Associated, one of the most respected names in competitive RC racing worldwide, these 13mm shock pistons are engineered to exacting standards. The 2.0mm specification with 2 x 1.7 configuration provides the damping characteristics that allow racers to dial in their suspension feel precisely. These are not beginner parts—they're competition-grade components designed for drivers who understand that suspension tuning is the difference between victory and a mid-field finish. If you're building or maintaining an RC car for club racing, track days, or competitive events across the UK, having the correct shock pistons is absolutely critical to achieving consistent on-track performance.
RC car suspension tuning is both an art and a science, and the shock piston is one of the most important variables in the equation. By selecting the correct piston specification, you directly control how your shocks compress and extend, which influences how your RC car responds to track conditions, impacts, and cornering forces. These Factory Team pistons are manufactured to the same exacting tolerances as the original equipment, ensuring they maintain the performance characteristics your RC car was designed to deliver.
Key Features
- 13mm Shock Piston Design — The 13mm diameter is the standard sizing for modern Team Associated RC buggies and trucks, ensuring perfect fit and compatibility with your existing shock absorbers. This size has been proven in thousands of competitive races across the UK and worldwide.
- 2.0mm, 2 x 1.7 Specification — This precise damping configuration provides a specific flow rate and resistance profile that affects how quickly your shocks respond to track conditions. The 2.0mm main orifice combined with the 2 x 1.7 secondary configuration allows for fine-tuned damping adjustment that serious racers rely on for consistent lap times.
- Genuine Factory Team Quality — As an official Team Associated part, these shock pistons are manufactured to the exact same specifications and tolerances as factory race-proven components. This guarantees compatibility and performance consistency across your suspension setup.
- Precision Suspension Tuning — By adjusting shock piston specifications along with your chosen shock oil weight and setup approach, you gain complete control over your RC car's suspension response. This level of tuning precision is essential for competitive racing where milliseconds determine race outcomes.
- Wide Vehicle Compatibility — These pistons fit a comprehensive range of Team Associated 1/10 scale RC cars including the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, RC10B7 and RC10B7D, making them a versatile spare part for anyone running Team Associated machinery.
- Easy Installation and Maintenance — Shock piston replacement is a straightforward maintenance task that any RC car owner can perform with basic tools. Keeping spare pistons on hand ensures you can quickly swap different specifications to dial in your setup without purchasing complete new shock assemblies.
- Race-Proven Performance — Team Associated Factory Team components have been used by professional and club racers for decades, accumulating countless hours of real-world testing and refinement. When you install these pistons, you're benefiting from that accumulated racing knowledge and engineering expertise.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons represent the culmination of decades of shock absorber engineering refined through competitive racing. The 2.0mm, 2 x 1.7 specification creates a specific damping flow characteristic that influences how your RC car's suspension compresses under acceleration, braking, and cornering loads. The 13mm diameter ensures perfect fit within Team Associated shock bodies, eliminating any tolerance issues that could compromise performance. These shock pistons work in conjunction with your choice of shock oil—thinner oils flow more freely through the piston orifices for softer damping, whilst thicker oils create stiffer damping characteristics. By pairing the correct piston specification with your preferred shock oil weight, you gain the ability to fine-tune your RC car's handling response across the full range of track conditions. The precision engineering ensures consistent performance lap after lap, allowing you to establish baseline setups and make incremental adjustments to optimise your RC buggy or truck's performance. Whether you're testing different suspension configurations for club racing, preparing for a regional championship, or simply wanting to refresh worn suspension components on your RC car, these genuine Factory Team shock pistons deliver the quality and performance that serious competitors demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Team Associated RC cars are compatible with these 13mm shock pistons? — These shock pistons fit the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, RC10B7 and RC10B7D. If you own any of these 1/10 scale RC buggies or trucks, these pistons will be directly compatible with your existing shock absorbers.
- What does the 2.0mm, 2 x 1.7 specification mean? — The 2.0mm refers to the primary orifice diameter through which shock oil flows through the piston, whilst the 2 x 1.7 refers to two secondary orifices sized at 1.7mm. This configuration determines the damping resistance and controls how quickly your shocks compress and extend, directly affecting your RC car's handling characteristics.
- How do shock pistons affect my RC car's performance? — Shock pistons are critical to suspension tuning because they control the flow rate of shock oil, which determines how soft or stiff your suspension feels. A softer piston specification (larger orifices) allows faster oil flow for a more compliant ride, whilst a stiffer specification restricts flow for a firmer suspension. For racing, selecting the correct piston specification for your track conditions is essential for achieving consistent lap times and competitive advantage.
- Do I need shock oil to use these pistons? — Yes, shock pistons work in conjunction with shock oil to create the damping effect. These pistons are designed to be used within Team Associated shock absorbers filled with your chosen shock oil weight. The piston specification combined with oil weight determines your total damping characteristics.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, these are official Team Associated Factory Team components manufactured to the exact specifications as factory race-proven parts. The AS91937 part number guarantees authenticity, and they come from an authorised UK retailer ensuring you receive genuine products.
- How often should I replace shock pistons? — Shock pistons typically last through many hours of racing, but if you notice inconsistent suspension response or signs of wear, replacement is recommended. Many racers keep spare piston sets on hand to quickly test different damping configurations without purchasing complete shock assemblies.
- Can I use these on a ready-to-run RC car? — These are replacement parts designed for existing Team Associated RC cars that use 13mm shock absorbers. If you own an RC10B-series or T6.4 Team Associated RC car, you can upgrade or maintain your suspension using these pistons. They're ideal for club racers and weekend bashers looking to optimise their existing setup.
