Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT Silicone Shock 42.5WT delivers professional-grade damping fluid engineered for precision suspension tuning across a wide range of RC vehicles. The 42.5wt (538cSt) viscosity rating represents a mid-range shock fluid suitable for general-purpose suspension setup and fine-tuning. Silicone-based shock oils like this one maintain consistent viscosity across temperature variations, which is crucial for maintaining predictable vehicle handling whether you're racing during cool morning sessions or hot afternoon track days. The 4oz (118mL) bottle size provides sufficient fluid for multiple shock servicing cycles or adjustments, making it an economical choice for regular maintenance routines. Team Associated has engineered this fluid to work reliably with oil-filled shock absorbers found on countless RC platforms, including the RC10 series, RC10B6 family, RC10T touring cars, Reflex buggies, RIVAL monster trucks, Apex2 vehicles, and many other models. The clearly stated viscosity specification means you can confidently adjust suspension settings knowing exactly what fluid weight you're working with, allowing for repeatable results and effective comparison of setup changes across different RC vehicles or track conditions. This is the type of consumable that serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers keep in stock for regular maintenance and performance optimisation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles is this shock fluid compatible with? — This 42.5wt silicone shock fluid is compatible with a comprehensive range of Team Associated RC vehicles, including the RC10 Factory Team, RC10T, RC10B6, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.4, RC10B7, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, Trophy Rat, Reflex 14B, Reflex 14T, Reflex 14R, Reflex 14MT, Enduro vehicles, RIVAL MT8 and MT10 series, DR10, DR10M, SR10, SR10M, Pro4, Pro2, SC10, RB10, RC8T4, RC8B4, RC8B4.1, Apex2 range including Sport variants, A550, ST550, Nissan Z, Datsun 620, and Hoonigan models, plus Monster Truck variants, the RC10GT, and numerous other Associated platforms. If you're unsure whether your specific RC model uses oil-filled shocks compatible with this fluid, check your vehicle's manual or contact our expert team.
- How often should I change my shock fluid? — Shock fluid should be serviced regularly, particularly if you race competitively or use your RC car frequently. Many racers refresh their shock fluid every few weeks of active use or before important competition events to ensure optimal damping performance. Regular servicing helps maintain consistent suspension characteristics and removes any contamination that may have accumulated inside the shock bodies.
- What does the 42.5wt rating mean? — The 42.5wt (538cSt) rating indicates the viscosity of the shock fluid, measured in centistokes (cSt). This mid-range viscosity is suitable for general-purpose suspension setup on most RC vehicles. Lighter viscosity fluids (lower wt numbers) provide softer damping, whilst heavier viscosity fluids (higher wt numbers) provide stiffer damping. Having the correct viscosity on hand allows you to fine-tune your suspension response for different track conditions and driving styles.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst shock fluid maintenance is a normal part of RC car ownership, beginners should ensure they understand their vehicle's shock system before attempting to service it. This product is best used as part of regular maintenance routines and when making intentional suspension adjustments. If you're new to RC cars and unsure about shock servicing, our experienced team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance on proper maintenance procedures.
- Why is silicone shock fluid better than mineral oil? — Silicone-based shock fluids offer superior temperature stability and consistency compared to mineral oils. They maintain their viscosity characteristics across a wider temperature range, which means your suspension damping remains predictable whether you're racing in cool or warm conditions. This makes silicone fluids the preferred choice for competitive racing and performance-oriented suspension tuning.
- How much shock fluid do I need? — The 4oz (118mL) bottle provides sufficient fluid for multiple shock servicing cycles depending on your shock size and how often you service them. Most standard RC shocks require only a small amount of fluid per servicing, so a single 4oz bottle can last many weeks or months depending on your usage and maintenance schedule. Team Associated's decision to super-size this bottle means you'll need to reorder less frequently, saving time and money.
- Can I use this fluid in different vehicle brands? — This fluid is engineered specifically for Team Associated shock systems and is most reliable when used in Associated vehicles. If you operate multiple RC brands, you should verify compatibility with other manufacturers' shock systems before use, as different brands may have different specifications and requirements.
