Technical Performance
The RadioLink R7FG is engineered with professional-grade components that deliver consistent, predictable performance across a wide range of RC applications. At its heart sits a 48MHz high-speed processor paired with a 32-bit industrial-level M0 chip, providing the processing power needed for real-time gyro calculations, telemetry transmission, and lightning-fast signal processing. The receiver's 4096-step resolution means you get incredibly fine control granularity, with each servo command broken into 4096 discrete positions rather than cruder 1024 or 2048-step systems, translating to smoother steering inputs and more precise throttle control that serious RC car and boat drivers will immediately appreciate. The 12 millisecond response time is exceptionally fast—quick enough that you won't perceive any lag between moving your transmitter sticks and your model responding, crucial for competitive racing and FPV operations where milliseconds matter. The FHSS spread spectrum protocol uses 67-channel pseudo-random frequency hopping, which means the receiver constantly jumps between different frequencies in an unpredictable pattern, making it virtually impossible for interference or jamming to disrupt your signal, whilst the 2.4GHz ISM band ensures global compatibility. The IPX4 waterproof rating is legitimate and meaningful—it's the same standard used by premium smartphone manufacturers, meaning the receiver can handle splashes and temporary submersion but isn't suitable for continuous underwater operation. The nano-coating technology protects every aspect of the PCB from moisture ingress without affecting cooling or performance. Power consumption is minimal at just 30mA average draw, meaning the receiver places almost no load on your battery system and will run for extended periods on lightweight models. The built-in gyro function works by measuring rotational movement and applying corrective servo signals automatically, smoothing out driver input and preventing the snap-oversteer that plagues inexperienced drivers whilst still allowing full manual control when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the RadioLink R7FG receiver suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Whilst the R7FG is packed with advanced features like built-in gyro and real-time telemetry, its intuitive operation and robust protection features make it perfect for newcomers to RC cars and boats. The integrated gyro actually makes driving easier for beginners by automatically stabilising the model, whilst reverse polarity protection prevents costly mistakes. The receiver is plug-and-play once bound to your transmitter, requiring no advanced setup or configuration—just connect your battery, bind to your transmitter, and drive.
- What transmitters are compatible with the R7FG receiver? — The R7FG is compatible with most RadioLink surface transmitters including the RC8X, RC6GS V3, RC4GS V3, RC6GS V2, RC4GS V2, RC6GS (3-position switch version only), RC4GS (versions produced after 1 January 2018), T16D, T12D, T8FB (both BT and OTG versions), and T8S (both BT and OTG versions). If you already own a RadioLink surface transmitter, check its specifications to confirm compatibility—most models work seamlessly with the R7FG.
- What battery voltage does the R7FG receiver need? — The receiver accepts a wide voltage range from 3V to 12V, making it compatible with 1S, 2S, 3S, and up to 4S LiPo batteries, as well as NiMH battery packs. Most modern RC cars and boats use 2S or 3S LiPo packs (7.4V or 11.1V respectively), which sit comfortably within the receiver's operating range. The receiver draws only 30mA average current, so it places minimal load on your battery system. For maximum runtime, we recommend 2S or 3S LiPo batteries which are readily available throughout the UK RC market.
- Does the R7FG receiver provide real-time battery voltage monitoring? — Yes, one of the standout features is built-in battery voltage telemetry without any extra modules needed. Simply connect your battery to the receiver using the included Engine Voltage Telemetry Connect Cable, bind to your compatible RadioLink transmitter, and the battery voltage will display on your transmitter screen in real-time. The telemetry can read up to 8S battery voltage, though most surface vehicles use 2S-3S. This eliminates guesswork about battery health and helps prevent over-discharging your LiPo cells, extending battery lifespan.
- How far can I control my RC model with the R7FG? — The stable control distance is rated at up to 600 metres on the ground, which is exceptional for surface vehicles and allows for extended FPV sessions with camera systems. Real-world range depends on antenna orientation, environment (open field vs. urban terrain), and transmitter power output. Most users find they get reliable control well beyond typical driving distances. The 205mm antenna should be kept vertical and unobstructed for optimal reception.
- What is the gyro function and how does it help? — The built-in gyro is an electronic stability control system that automatically detects rotational movement and applies corrective servo inputs, preventing unwanted drifting and making your vehicle turn more smoothly. This is especially useful for high-speed driving where momentum would normally cause oversteer and loss of control. For beginners, the gyro makes the model feel planted and easy to control. Advanced drivers can disable the gyro function entirely through transmitter settings if they prefer pure manual control, so it suits drivers of all skill levels.
- Is the R7FG waterproof and can I use it in rain or water? — The receiver has an IPX4 splash-proof rating, meaning it can handle water splashes, light rain, and wet grass without damage. However, IPX4 does not mean fully waterproof or submersible—it's designed to survive splashes and temporary moisture exposure, not continuous underwater operation. This rating is perfect for wet conditions at the local RC field or casual play in damp weather. If you plan extended water activities, consider additional protective measures like sealed chassis designs.
- What signal output modes does the R7FG support? — The receiver supports PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), PPM (Pulse Position Modulation), and SBUS (Serial Bus) signal outputs. In standard mode with green or red LED, channels 1-7 output PWM signals compatible with standard servo leads. In FPV or advanced modes (blue or purple LED), channels 1-5 output PWM whilst channel 6 outputs PPM and channel 7 outputs SBUS. This flexibility allows the R7FG to integrate with everything from traditional RC cars and boats to advanced FPV platforms and flight controllers.
- What happens if I accidentally connect the battery backwards? — The R7FG includes reverse polarity protection, so even if you accidentally connect the battery with positive and negative reversed, the receiver will not be damaged. This safety feature has saved countless RC enthusiasts from expensive repairs and is particularly valuable for beginners who might make wiring mistakes.
- How do I know when the receiver is bound to my transmitter? — Once successfully bound, the receiver's LED will display either green (standard PWM mode) or blue (PPM/SBUS mode) indicating a stable signal. A red or purple LED indicates the receiver is still in binding mode or searching for signal. The LED status also changes if signal is lost, giving you clear visual feedback about receiver status during operation.
- Can I use multiple R7FG receivers with one transmitter? — Yes, thanks to the subsidiary ID function, you can bind multiple R7FG receivers to one transmitter and store up to 10 subsidiary IDs. This is useful for multi-model operations like long-distance rescue scenarios with RC cars or boats. Each receiver maintains its own binding identity, allowing selective control.
