  • Sub-Micro Form Factor — At just 13 grams, this servo is compact and lightweight, making it ideal for scale models, micro RC aircraft and applications where weight distribution is critical to flight performance and handling characteristics.
  • Standard Operating Voltage Range — Operating between 4.8V and 6.0V, this servo integrates seamlessly with most standard RC receiver and battery configurations, offering excellent compatibility across diverse RC setups and equipment combinations.
  • Spektrum Reliability — Manufactured by Spektrum, a brand synonymous with quality and innovation in the RC industry, this servo benefits from rigorous quality control and proven engineering principles that have made Spektrum a trusted name among RC pilots and serious modellers.

Technical Performance

The SPM 13g Sub-Micro Metal Gear Servo represents the pinnacle of compact servo design, engineered to deliver exceptional performance in weight-sensitive applications. The metal gear transmission is the key differentiator, providing superior durability compared to plastic alternatives whilst maintaining the compact dimensions necessary for sub-micro installations. Digital servo technology ensures rapid response times and improved accuracy, giving pilots the precise control needed for acrobatic flying, smooth aerobatic sequences and demanding flight regimes. The 4.8-6.0V operating voltage range provides flexibility in power configuration, accommodating everything from standard 4.8V NiMH batteries to modern 5.0-6.0V LiPo configurations that are increasingly popular among UK RC enthusiasts. The servo's compact form factor—13 grams of total weight—makes it an excellent choice for ultra-lightweight aircraft designs where minimising mass is essential to achieving optimal flight characteristics. Whether you're building a competition-level RC aircraft, a detailed scale model, or upgrading an existing micro RC platform, this servo delivers the performance and durability expected from a Spektrum product. The metal gear construction ensures the servo will maintain consistent operation through thousands of flight hours, making it an economical long-term investment for serious RC pilots.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between metal gear and plastic gear servos? — Metal gear servos like the P-SPMSA392 offer significantly superior durability and strength compared to plastic gear alternatives. Metal gears resist wear and can handle higher loads and faster operating frequencies without degradation. For serious RC applications, especially in competition or high-demand flying, metal gears provide better longevity and more consistent performance over time, making them worth the investment despite their slightly higher cost.
  • Is this servo suitable for beginner RC pilots? — Whilst this servo is technically suitable for any skill level, it's particularly ideal for pilots who already have some experience and are looking to upgrade their RC setup with higher-quality components. Beginners may find equally effective (and less expensive) options available, but if you're committed to serious RC flying and want components that will last years, this Spektrum servo is an excellent choice.
  • What battery voltage does this servo require? — The SPM 13g Sub-Micro Metal Gear Servo operates optimally within the 4.8V to 6.0V range. This makes it compatible with standard 4-cell NiMH battery packs (which deliver approximately 4.8V nominal) and modern single-cell LiPo batteries (which provide 5.0-6.0V depending on charge level). Most RC receivers and power systems used in UK RC applications fall within this voltage window, ensuring straightforward integration into your existing setup.
  • What type of RC models is this servo suitable for? — The 13-gram weight and sub-micro form factor make this servo ideal for small-scale RC aircraft, micro aeroplanes, detailed scale models, and any RC application where compact size and minimal weight are priorities. The metal gear construction ensures it can handle the demands of acrobatic flying and precision manoeuvres without premature wear.
  • Why choose Spektrum servos for my RC setup? — Spektrum has earned a sterling reputation throughout the RC community for engineering quality and reliability. Their servos undergo rigorous testing and quality control, ensuring consistent performance and durability. By choosing Spektrum, you're investing in a brand that's trusted by competitive pilots and serious RC enthusiasts throughout the UK and worldwide.
