Overview

The Etronix ParaBoard (ET0288) is an essential charging accessory for RC enthusiasts and hobbyists in the UK who own multiple lithium battery packs. This parallel charging board allows you to charge up to three LiPo batteries simultaneously through a single balance charger, dramatically reducing your overall battery charging time and maximising your RC car UK playtime. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or discovering the world of RC for the first time, this intelligent charging solution will transform how you manage your battery fleet and keep your ready to run RC vehicles powered up and ready for action.

The ParaBoard comes equipped with Deans connectors for the main power circuit and XH balance ports, making it compatible with most modern balance chargers used across the RC hobby. This versatile board supports battery packs ranging from 2S to 6S cell configurations, meaning it works with everything from entry-level brushed RC cars through to high-performance brushless RC vehicles. The pre-wired parallel architecture means you can connect multiple batteries with different cell counts... wait, no—all connected batteries must be the same cell count for safety. Once you understand this simple requirement, the ParaBoard becomes one of the most time-saving investments you can make for your RC collection.

Etronix have engineered this charging board using high-quality materials and rigorous testing to ensure it handles the demands of serious RC use. The robust construction and intelligent design make it an ideal addition to any RC enthusiast's charging station, whether you're running a fleet of RC buggy batteries, RC monster truck power packs, or any other LiPo-powered RC vehicle.

Key Features

  • Charge up to three batteries simultaneously — The ParaBoard allows parallel charging of 1 to 3 lithium battery packs at the same time, which means you can significantly reduce your total charging time and spend more time actually driving your RC cars instead of waiting for batteries to charge. This is particularly valuable if you use your ready to run RC vehicles regularly or compete in RC racing events.
  • Supports 2S through 6S battery packs — Whether you're using small 2-cell packs in micro RC cars or large 6-cell batteries in high-performance brushless RC vehicles, the ParaBoard accommodates the full range of modern lithium battery configurations used across the RC hobby in the UK and beyond.
  • Three balance ports and three main plugs arranged in parallel — Each board includes three dedicated balance ports (covering 2S through 6S) and three main power connectors. Because they are arranged in parallel configuration, you can match any plug with any balance port randomly without worrying about specific port assignments, offering genuine flexibility in how you set up your charging station.
  • Deans main connectors with XH balance ports — The board features industry-standard Deans connectors for the main charging circuit and XH-type balance ports, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of modern balance chargers and lithium battery packs available from UK RC retailers.
  • Heavy-duty two-ounce copper PCB construction — The circuit board is manufactured using premium two-ounce copper, which provides superior current carrying capacity compared to standard boards. The main power circuit is heavily tinned, allowing the board to safely handle high charge currents without voltage drop or heat generation issues.
  • Tested to 20A continuous with 30A burst capability — The ParaBoard has been fully tested under 20 Amp continuous current, making it suitable for everyday use with standard balance chargers. For short charging sessions lasting 10 to 30 minutes, the board is safe to handle up to 30A charge rate, perfect for quick top-ups before RC driving sessions.
  • Pre-wired in parallel—simply connect and charge — The internal wiring is already configured in parallel arrangement, so there is no assembly or configuration needed. Simply plug your battery's main connector and balance lead into the board and you're ready to charge. This makes it accessible even to RC beginners who might be intimidated by complex charging setups.
  • High-quality component selection and rigorous testing — Etronix use selected high-quality materials throughout the ParaBoard design, with each board subjected to comprehensive testing before leaving the factory. This dedication to quality ensures reliability and safety during every charging cycle.

Technical Performance

The ParaBoard represents a thoughtfully engineered solution to a genuine problem faced by RC hobbyists: managing multiple battery packs efficiently. The two-ounce copper PCB is a significant specification that deserves explanation—standard PCB boards typically use one-ounce copper, which means the Etronix ParaBoard offers double the copper thickness. This directly translates to lower electrical resistance and better heat dissipation during high-current charging sessions. The main power circuit features heavy tinning throughout, which further improves current handling and prevents corrosion of the copper traces over time. These are not cosmetic upgrades; they are engineering decisions that extend the board's lifespan and ensure safe operation with modern high-capacity lithium batteries. The ParaBoard has been tested under sustained 20A current—this is the continuous rating and represents real-world typical use. The 30A rating for 10–30 minute intervals is a burst capacity that allows for quick charging sessions without safety concerns. The board's ability to handle up to three batteries in parallel means you could theoretically charge three 3000mAh packs simultaneously on a quality balance charger, cutting your total charging time to approximately one-third compared to sequential single-battery charging. The XH balance connectors are increasingly popular in the RC hobby, particularly with modern LiPo battery manufacturers, whilst the Deans main connectors remain the industry standard for power delivery. This combination ensures the ParaBoard will work with virtually any contemporary balance charger and battery available to RC enthusiasts in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I charge batteries with different cell counts on the ParaBoard simultaneously? — No, all batteries connected to the ParaBoard at the same time must be the same cell count (either all 2S, all 3S, all 4S, etc.). The parallel wiring architecture requires this safety requirement to be observed. Mixing different cell counts could result in unbalanced charging and potential battery damage or safety hazards.
  • What is the maximum charge rate I can safely use with the ParaBoard? — The board has been tested and certified safe for 20A continuous charging. It can handle up to 30A for short periods of 10 to 30 minutes. These limits assume your balance charger is capable of delivering these currents and that your batteries are rated for this charging speed. Always check your battery's C-rating and charger specifications.
  • Is the ParaBoard suitable for beginners in RC? — Absolutely. The ParaBoard is one of the most beginner-friendly charging accessories available. There is no assembly required, and the pre-wired parallel configuration means you simply connect your batteries and start charging. The straightforward design makes it an ideal purchase for anyone new to RC who wants to efficiently charge multiple battery packs. Even experienced RC drivers and bashers will appreciate the time savings.
  • Which balance charger do I need to use with the ParaBoard? — You need a balance charger with Deans connectors for the main power input and XH-type balance ports. Most modern balance chargers used in the RC hobby, particularly those designed for LiPo batteries, feature these standard connectors. Check your charger's specification before purchasing to confirm compatibility. Popular balance chargers compatible with the ParaBoard include those from manufacturers like iMaxRC, Turnigy, SkyRC, and many others.
  • How much time will the ParaBoard save me on charging? — If you typically charge three batteries sequentially, each taking 30 minutes, you spend 90 minutes total charging time. With the ParaBoard, those same three batteries charge simultaneously in approximately 30 minutes, saving you 60 minutes. This time saving is particularly valuable if you use your RC cars UK regularly or participate in club racing events where quick battery turnaround is essential.
  • What makes the ParaBoard different from cheaper parallel charging boards? — The ParaBoard uses premium two-ounce copper PCB construction with heavy tinning on the main power circuit, which translates to superior current handling and heat dissipation compared to standard one-ounce copper boards. Additionally, Etronix has rigorously tested every ParaBoard to ensure reliability and safety. The build quality means the ParaBoard will last through years of RC use without degradation, making it a genuine long-term investment rather than a disposable accessory.
  • Can I use the ParaBoard with non-lithium batteries? — The ParaBoard is specifically designed for lithium battery charging via balance charger methodology. It should only be used with LiPo (lithium polymer), LiHV (high-voltage lithium), and similar lithium-based battery types that require balance charging. Do not use it with NiMH, NiCd, or lead-acid batteries, as the parallel charging architecture is not suitable for these battery chemistries.
