Overview

The Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons represent precision-engineered suspension components designed for competitive RC car enthusiasts across the UK. These Factory Team shock pistons are essential upgrades for serious racers who demand maximum performance from their RC vehicles. Whether you're competing in local club races or pushing your RC buggy to its limits at the track, quality shock pistons are fundamental to achieving consistent handling, responsive suspension tuning and competitive edge over your rivals.

Shock pistons might seem like small components, but they play a critical role in your RC car's suspension dynamics. The piston sits inside the shock absorber body and controls how fluid flows through the shock, directly affecting how your RC monster truck, buggy or short-course truck responds to terrain changes, maintains grip through corners and absorbs impact energy during aggressive driving. Upgrading to premium Factory Team pistons allows you to fine-tune your suspension setup with greater precision, giving you the competitive advantage you need in UK RC racing.

These Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons feature a 2.5mm specification with a 2 x 1.6 hole configuration, making them compatible with a range of Team Associated RC vehicles. Whether you're running a B6.4, B6.4D, B74.2, B74.2D, T6.4, SC6.4, B7, B7D, T7, SC7 or RC10T84, these pistons deliver the performance consistency that Factory Team components are renowned for. Stock them in your spares box and always have the right parts available for race day preparation and mid-event suspension tuning.

Key Features

  • Factory Team Precision Engineering — Team Associated's Factory Team range represents the absolute peak of performance components engineered for competitive RC racing, with strict manufacturing tolerances that ensure consistent performance every single time you use them.
  • 13mm Shock Size — The 13mm diameter is engineered to fit a wide range of Team Associated RC models, providing drop-in compatibility with numerous popular platforms so you can upgrade your suspension without purchasing an entirely new chassis.
  • 2.5mm Specification Rating — The 2.5mm specification defines the damping characteristics and fluid flow rate through the piston, allowing you to match your suspension setup to your specific driving style, track conditions and vehicle platform.
  • 2 x 1.6 Hole Configuration — The dual 1.6mm hole design in the piston head provides precise fluid bypass control during compression and extension, enabling fine-tuned suspension response that translates into better traction, improved cornering speed and more predictable vehicle behaviour.
  • Quality Assurance — These genuine Associated components meet the exacting standards set by Team Associated engineering, ensuring reliability, consistency and performance that you can depend on lap after lap, race after race.
  • Essential Spare Component — Every serious RC racer needs multiple sets of shock pistons available, as they are consumable items that can be easily swapped to fine-tune suspension on race day or replaced if wear becomes noticeable.

Technical Performance

Shock pistons are engineered from premium materials designed to withstand the extreme pressures and repetitive cycling that occurs during competitive RC driving. The piston head contains precisely drilled holes that regulate fluid flow between the shock's compression and extension strokes. Team Associated's Factory Team pistons are manufactured to exacting tolerances that ensure consistent damping characteristics across multiple units, which is critical for competitive racing where suspension consistency between your RC buggy's front and rear shocks makes the difference between winning and losing. The 13mm diameter accommodates sufficient volume for effective damping across a range of driving conditions, from smooth asphalt tracks to rough outdoor terrain. The 2.5mm specification and 2 x 1.6 hole configuration work together to provide moderate damping that suits both general racing and technical track layouts. Quality shock pistons like these are designed to resist wear from the constant cycling of oil and maintain their damping characteristics even after extended use, though serious competitors often replace their pistons regularly to ensure maximum consistency. These components represent a measurable investment in your RC car's performance and handling precision, making them essential for anyone serious about competitive RC racing in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Team Associated RC cars are these shock pistons compatible with? — These FT 13mm shock pistons fit a wide range of Team Associated vehicles including the B6.4, B6.4D, B74.2, B74.2D, T6.4, SC6.4, B7, B7D, T7, SC7 and RC10T84. Check your vehicle's manual or contact us if you're unsure about compatibility with your specific model.
  • Why would I need to replace my shock pistons? — Shock pistons are regularly swapped by competitive racers for two main reasons: to fine-tune your suspension setup for different track conditions and driving styles, and to replace worn pistons that have lost their damping consistency through extended use. Many racers keep several sets on hand.
  • What does the 2.5mm specification mean? — The specification number refers to the damping rate and fluid flow characteristics of the piston design. Different specifications (2.5mm, 2.0mm, 3.0mm etc) provide varying levels of damping, allowing you to tune your suspension to suit your track, driving style and vehicle setup.
  • What is the 2 x 1.6 hole configuration? — This indicates the piston has two holes, each measuring 1.6mm in diameter, drilled through the piston head. These holes control how shock fluid flows during compression and extension, directly affecting how your suspension responds to track conditions and vehicle weight transfer.
  • Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, these are official Team Associated Factory Team components supplied under the authentic part number AS91932. Purchasing genuine Factory Team parts ensures you receive components manufactured to Team Associated's exacting engineering standards.
  • How often should I replace my shock pistons? — This depends on your usage intensity. Casual drivers might replace pistons once or twice per season, while competitive racers often change them regularly, including between practice and race sessions, to maintain optimal suspension consistency.
