Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (GTM) (0.155 rate) (1 pair) TRX9760 is an essential suspension tuning component for RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to optimise their trail truck performance. Whether you're piloting a TRX-4M Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, Chevrolet K10, or Ford F-150, these GTM shock springs deliver the precise suspension adjustment needed to match your driving style, terrain conditions, and vehicle weight configuration. As a dedicated RC car UK retailer, we understand that suspension tuning is fundamental to achieving the perfect balance between handling responsiveness and ride comfort on any trail.

GTM shock springs are engineered to provide consistent performance across a wide range of RC applications. The 0.155 rate specification sits in the softer end of the spring rate spectrum, making these springs particularly suited to drivers who prioritise compliance and traction over maximum stiffness. Whether you're running a ready to run RC truck or customising a trail crawler, having a set of quality replacement springs is essential maintenance. Spring degradation is inevitable with frequent use, and worn springs directly impact suspension geometry, handling characteristics, and overall vehicle control. This pair of GTM shock springs ensures your suspension system maintains its designed geometry and performance characteristics.

For those new to RC suspension tuning, understanding spring rates is crucial. The higher the spring rate number, the firmer the spring, meaning more resistance to compression. Conversely, the 0.155 rate of these springs provides a softer, more compliant setup that excels at absorbing bumps, maintaining tyre contact on uneven terrain, and providing a smoother ride. This makes them ideal for rock crawling, trail running, and technical off-road RC driving where maintaining traction and vehicle stability is paramount. Whether you're an experienced RC competitor or exploring the world of hobby-grade RC trucks for the first time, quality suspension components like these GTM springs are the foundation of a well-tuned, reliable setup.

Key Features

  • GTM Precision Engineering — These springs are manufactured by GTM to strict quality standards, ensuring consistent performance and reliability across the entire lifespan of the spring. Quality suspension components directly impact your vehicle's handling, traction, and durability on the trail.
  • 0.155 Spring Rate (Softer Setup) — The 0.155 rate represents a softer spring specification ideal for drivers seeking maximum compliance and traction. A softer spring rate allows the suspension to compress more readily, maintaining tyre contact on rough terrain and providing superior ground-hugging performance on technical trails and rock crawling courses.
  • Suspension Tuning Flexibility — By offering springs in different rates, Traxxas empowers RC enthusiasts to fine-tune their suspension performance to match specific driving preferences and vehicle configurations. Whether you're running a lighter or heavier vehicle setup, adjusting spring rates is one of the most effective ways to optimise handling.
  • One Pair (Two Springs) — This package includes a matched pair of springs, providing you with a complete front or rear suspension refresh. Having matched springs ensures consistent suspension geometry and handling across both sides of your RC truck.
  • Direct Traxxas Compatibility — These springs are genuine Traxxas parts designed for TRX-4M series vehicles, including the Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, Chevrolet K10, Ford F-150, and TRX-4MT Monster Truck variants. Using OEM Traxxas parts ensures perfect fitment and guaranteed compatibility.
  • Essential Maintenance Component — Springs are wear items that gradually lose tension over time with repeated use. Regular replacement with fresh GTM springs maintains your vehicle's suspension geometry, handling characteristics, and overall performance consistency throughout the year.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas GTM shock spring represents decades of suspension engineering expertise applied to 1/18-scale RC trail trucks and crawlers. Spring rate engineering is a critical aspect of suspension design, as springs directly control how the chassis responds to terrain inputs, weight transfer, and dynamic forces during acceleration, braking, and cornering. The 0.155 rate specification positions these springs in the compliance-focused segment of the performance spectrum, making them particularly effective for drivers prioritising traction and terrain-following ability over maximum stiffness. In practical terms, this softer rate allows the suspension to work through a greater range of travel, maintaining consistent tyre pressure on uneven surfaces and preventing the chassis from bottoming out during aggressive trail running or rock crawling. The springs are engineered to pair seamlessly with Traxxas's TRX-4M suspension geometry, which features adjustable link mounting points and dual-stage shock absorber construction. This system allows drivers to independently tune spring rate, damping characteristics, and suspension ride height to achieve the perfect setup for their specific terrain and driving style. Whether tackling rocky trail courses, muddy terrain, or technical rock crawling sections, quality springs like these GTM units form the foundation of a suspension system that responds predictably and maintains vehicle control throughout your RC driving sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 0.155 spring rate mean and is it right for my RC truck? — The spring rate number indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by a unit distance. A 0.155 rate is considered a softer spring specification, ideal for drivers seeking maximum suspension compliance and traction on technical terrain. If you prioritise smooth handling, bump absorption, and tyre contact maintenance over maximum stiffness, this softer rate is an excellent choice. Conversely, if you prefer a firmer, more responsive suspension with less travel, you might consider a higher spring rate.
  • Why do I need to replace my shock springs? — Springs are dynamic components that gradually lose tension with repeated compression cycles. Over months of use, springs develop micro-fractures and lose their original stiffness, resulting in a sagging suspension geometry. Worn springs cause increased bottoming-out, reduced traction, and unpredictable handling characteristics. Regular spring replacement with fresh GTM units restores your suspension to factory specifications and ensures consistent performance.
  • What vehicles are these springs compatible with? — These Traxxas GTM springs are designed for the entire TRX-4M series, including the 1/18 Ford Bronco RTR (available in multiple colours including Blue, Red, Orange, Black, White, and Area 51), 1/18 Land Rover Defender RTR (Green, Light Blue, Pink, Silver, Tan, and Black variants), and the 1/18 TRX-4M Chevrolet K10, Ford F-150, and TRX-4MT Monster Truck variants. If you own any TRX-4M model, these springs will fit perfectly.
  • How many springs do I need? — This package contains one pair (two springs), which is sufficient for one complete front or rear suspension refresh. Most drivers purchase pairs based on which suspension corners they wish to tune or replace. For a complete chassis refresh, you may wish to purchase multiple pairs to replace all four shock springs.
  • How do I know when to replace my springs? — Signs of worn springs include sagging suspension geometry, reduced ride height, excessive bottoming-out during terrain impacts, and unpredictable handling characteristics. If your vehicle sits lower than it did when new, or if you're experiencing handling issues despite properly maintained shocks and fresh oil, spring replacement should be your first diagnostic step.
  • Are these springs easy to install? — Spring replacement is a straightforward process requiring only basic tools. Most RC users can complete a spring swap in minutes by removing the shock cap, unloading the old spring, and installing the new GTM spring. Detailed installation instructions are included with the springs, and countless online guides demonstrate the process for TRX-4M vehicles.
