Key Features
- Strong and durable steel construction — Manufactured from high-quality steel, this pinion gear is engineered to withstand the extreme stresses and impacts encountered during intensive RC driving sessions, ensuring long-lasting performance whether you're bashing over rough terrain or racing competitively.
- Precision manufactured wide tooth profile — The wide tooth design has been carefully engineered to ensure smooth operation and efficient power transfer from your motor to the driveshaft, reducing noise and vibration while maximising acceleration and consistency during driving.
- Safe-D8 D-shaped bore design — The innovative D-shaped hole matches your 8mm motor shaft profile precisely, providing a safety feature that prevents drive and brake loss if your set-screw accidentally backs out during use, keeping your RC vehicle operational even in unexpected situations.
- Suits 8mm motor shaft diameter — This pinion gear is specifically designed for motors with an 8mm shaft diameter, which is the standard specification for many ARRMA RC vehicles, ensuring perfect compatibility with your brushless RC car or truck.
- Precision manufactured threaded set-screw hole — The accurately machined set-screw hole accepts the included M4 x 4mm set-screw, providing a secure and reliable method of fastening the pinion gear to your motor shaft with consistent clamping force.
- E-clip retention system — An E-clip is supplied to provide additional motor shaft pinion retention, acting as a secondary safety measure to keep your pinion gear securely in place during aggressive driving and high-speed runs.
- 36-tooth Mod1 pitch specification — The 36-tooth count combined with Mod1 pitch allows for precise gearing ratios that can be adjusted to suit your driving style, track conditions, or performance goals, making this gear ideal for fine-tuning your RC vehicle's acceleration and top speed characteristics.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 36T Mod1 Safe-D8 represents the pinnacle of precision engineering for RC drivetrain components. Manufactured to exacting tolerances, this steel pinion gear delivers exceptional durability and reliability in demanding driving conditions encountered by RC enthusiasts throughout the UK. The 36-tooth configuration, when paired with Mod1 pitch specifications, integrates seamlessly with ARRMA's drivetrain ecosystem, providing optimal gear mesh and power transfer characteristics. The precision-engineered wide tooth profile ensures smooth engagement with your spur gear, minimising backlash and vibration whilst maximising efficiency throughout the entire RPM range of your brushless RC vehicle. The Safe-D8 bore design is a game-changer for reliability—the D-shaped profile creates a positive mechanical lock with your 8mm motor shaft, preventing slippage even under extreme acceleration forces or during impact events. The included M4 x 4mm set-screw and 6mm E-clip work together to create a redundant fastening system, ensuring your pinion gear remains securely mounted regardless of the intensity of your RC driving sessions. Whether you're running a high-performance brushless motor in a competitive setting or everyday bashing in an off-road RC buggy or truck, this gear provides the performance and reliability that serious RC car UK drivers demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Safe-D8 design and why does it matter for my RC car? — The Safe-D8 D-shaped bore is a safety innovation that prevents loss of drive and brake function if your set-screw backs out during driving. This means you have greater reliability and peace of mind, particularly during intense driving sessions on rough terrain or at high speeds, as your pinion gear will remain mechanically locked to your motor shaft even if fastener tension is lost.
- Is the 36T pinion gear suitable for my ARRMA RC vehicle? — The 36T Mod1 Safe-D8 pinion gear is compatible with ARRMA vehicles that feature an 8mm motor shaft diameter and Mod1 pitch specifications. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our expert team to confirm compatibility with your specific model, as different ARRMA vehicles may use different gearing ratios depending on their intended use and performance characteristics.
- What is the difference between this 36-tooth gear and other tooth counts? — The number of teeth on a pinion gear directly affects your vehicle's gearing ratio and performance characteristics. A 36-tooth pinion provides a specific balance of acceleration and top speed—lower tooth counts increase acceleration but reduce top speed, whilst higher tooth counts have the opposite effect. The 36T configuration offers a versatile middle ground suitable for most driving styles and track conditions.
- Do I need to replace my pinion gear regularly? — Pinion gears are wear items that gradually deteriorate through normal use as the teeth mesh with your spur gear. Regular inspection during maintenance is recommended, and replacement should be considered when you notice worn or chipped teeth, unusual noise during operation, or decreased performance. Carrying a spare pinion gear in your RC toolbox ensures you're never without this critical component when you need it.
- What tools do I need to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires basic RC maintenance tools including an appropriate hex wrench or Allen key to tighten the M4 x 4mm set-screw securely to your motor shaft. The E-clip can be installed and removed by hand or with a small flathead screwdriver. We recommend consulting your vehicle's manual for specific torque specifications to ensure proper fastening without overtightening.
- Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this pinion gear is suitable for RC enthusiasts of all experience levels. However, pinion gear replacement and installation is considered intermediate maintenance rather than beginner-level work. If you're new to RC cars in the UK, we recommend seeking assistance from experienced RC modellers or our expert team at RC Model Shop to ensure correct installation and optimal performance.
