Overview
This is a pair of Slide Lock 1:8 Buggy Tires. The Slide Lock is a unique new tire design from Pro-Line that is made specifically for smooth, low grip tracks. The Slide Lock features a pattern of small, tightly packed hexagon and triangle shaped pins so you can lay down as much rubber as possible. The tread on the new Slide Lock is laid out wider across the tire carcass for a flatter profile overall compared to other Pro-Line 1:8 Race Tires. Each hexagon pin has a deep sipe down the middle of the tread for added flex and grip on even the slickest of surfaces. The built-in tread flex means you can run harder compounds for longer wear and still have good traction when you need it. The large and stiff side pins reach far down the sidewall to reduce edginess as much as possible. Be the first at your track to win with Pro-Line's new Slide Lock tire. Get yours today!

- 1:8 Buggy Wheels Front or Rear
Overview
The Pro-Line 1/8 Slide Lock S4 Front/Rear Off-Road Buggy Tyres represent a ground-up design revolution in RC buggy racing, engineered specifically for the unique demands of smooth, low-grip track surfaces. These premium competition tyres are an essential upgrade for any serious RC buggy racer in the UK looking to gain a competitive edge at their local track. Whether you are a weekend racer or a seasoned competitor pushing for podium finishes, the Slide Lock tyres deliver the performance characteristics that dedicated racers demand from their RC car setup.
Pro-Line has completely reimagined tyre architecture with these Slide Lock tyres, moving away from conventional designs to create a solution that excels precisely where other tyres struggle. The tread pattern features small, tightly packed hexagon and triangle-shaped pins arranged across a wider tyre carcass, allowing you to lay down maximum rubber contact with the track surface. This innovative approach to tyre design produces a flatter profile compared to other Pro-Line 1/8 race tyres, which fundamentally changes how your RC buggy interacts with low-bite surfaces. If you have been frustrated by inconsistent grip or loss of traction on slippery tracks, these tyres address those challenges head-on with engineering that prioritises control and predictability.
What sets the Slide Lock apart is the integration of deep sipes running down the middle of each hexagon pin. These strategic cuts provide additional flex and grip even on the slickest of surfaces, meaning you can push harder and brake later without losing confidence in your vehicle. The tyres ship with long-lasting closed-cell foam inserts included, saving you money and ensuring immediate out-of-the-box usability. This pair of tyres fits both front and rear positions on 1/8 buggy wheels, making them a versatile choice for your racing programme.
Key Features
- All-New Ground-Up Design for Maximum Performance — Every aspect of these tyres has been engineered from the ground up specifically for low-grip conditions, rather than adapting an existing design, meaning you benefit from Pro-Line's complete focus on solving the problems racers face on smooth tracks.
- Designed Specifically for Smooth, Low-Grip Tracks — Unlike general-purpose racing tyres, the Slide Lock is purpose-built for the exact track conditions where many drivers struggle, giving you a significant competitive advantage when track bite is at a premium.
- Tightly Packed Small Pins with Deep Sipes Create Unmatched Grip — The hexagon and triangle-shaped pin pattern maximises rubber-to-track contact whilst the sipes carved into each pin provide additional flex and biting edges, delivering grip levels that are unmatched by conventional tyre designs on low-bite surfaces.
- Run Harder Compounds but Still Have Good Grip — The built-in tread flex of the Slide Lock design allows you to use harder compound materials than you might otherwise choose, resulting in extended tyre life across multiple races whilst maintaining the traction you need when it matters most.
- Reduced Edginess for Effortless Control — The large and stiff side pins extend far down the sidewall, significantly reducing the nervous, unpredictable behaviour that low-grip tyres often exhibit, allowing you to maintain confidence and smooth inputs throughout your race.
- Long-Lasting Closed-Cell Inserts Included — These premium foam inserts come pre-installed, providing both immediate usability and durability, eliminating the additional cost of purchasing inserts separately and ensuring your investment in these tyres is complete from day one.
- Lab Certified Select Compounds — Pro-Line has laboratory-tested and certified the compound formulations, guaranteeing consistent performance across batches and delivering maximum grip on low-bite surfaces with maximum reliability.
- Compliant Carcass Produces Traction with Controlled Expansion — The tyre carcass has been engineered to flex and conform to the track surface, generating traction through increased contact whilst maintaining structural control to prevent unpredictable deformation during cornering and acceleration.
- Medium Wear on Wet Surfaces — These tyres are formulated to perform acceptably on wet tracks with moderate wear rates, providing versatility for changing weather conditions that UK racers often encounter.
- Ultra Long-Lasting Compound with Substantial Grip Improvements — The latest compound formulation represents a substantial leap forward in grip performance during dry and slick conditions, ensuring your investment delivers lap-time advantages throughout the tyre's lifespan.
- Stays Stable Throughout Long Main Events — Unlike many competition tyres that fade and soften near the end of races, the Slide Lock compound remains stable and consistent, so your final laps are just as competitive as your opening ones.
- Lab Tested Batches Guarantee Performance — Every batch of tyres is laboratory tested to ensure that the performance you experience matches what you expect, with no variability between purchases.
- Temperature Flexibility — Firm Material for Higher Temps, Softer Material for Lower Temps — Pro-Line provides compound options allowing you to select the appropriate hardness for your track temperature, optimising grip and wear for your specific racing conditions.
- Front and Rear Universal Fitment — These tyres work on both front and rear positions, providing flexibility in your tyre strategy and simplifying inventory management for competitive racers.
Technical Performance
The Slide Lock S4 tyres represent a significant engineering advancement in 1/8 buggy tyre technology, specifically addressing the performance challenges posed by smooth, low-grip track surfaces that can be problematic for conventional racing compounds. The tyre architecture features a wider tread layout across the carcass compared to traditional Pro-Line 1/8 race tyres, creating a flatter overall profile that generates superior contact patch consistency on low-bite surfaces. The hexagon and triangle pin pattern, combined with the integrated deep sipes, provides multiple surfaces for grip generation, allowing the tyre to maintain traction even when track conditions are slippery or unpredictable. The compliant carcass design ensures controlled expansion during acceleration and cornering, preventing the excessive deformation that can lead to loss of directional stability. Pro-Line's lab-certified compound formulations have been specifically developed to deliver maximum grip on low-bite surfaces whilst maintaining durability through extended use. The closed-cell foam inserts included with each pair provide appropriate damping and support, ensuring consistent performance throughout your racing programme. These tyres fit standard 1/8 buggy wheels for both front and rear positions, making them compatible with most modern competition 1/8 buggies used throughout UK racing venues. The medium wear rate on wet surfaces provides versatility for the variable UK weather conditions, ensuring you have a capable tyre option even when rain becomes a factor during your racing day.
