Overview

TLR Silicone Shock Oil at 35WT viscosity (420CST) is an essential maintenance fluid for RC enthusiasts who demand peak performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're running a competition-grade RC buggy, truggy, or short course truck, the correct shock oil viscosity is critical to achieving the precise damping characteristics your vehicle needs for consistent handling and speed on the track. This 4oz bottle provides enough fluid for multiple shock servicing sessions, making it a cost-effective addition to your RC pit bag or workbench setup.

Team Losi Racing manufactures shock fluids as part of their comprehensive range of RC accessories and maintenance products. TLR is recognised as a leading brand in competitive RC racing, and their fluids are engineered to precise specifications to ensure your shocks perform reliably whether you're racing on carpet, asphalt, or dirt surfaces. The 35WT viscosity is a medium-weight option that suits a wide variety of chassis and track conditions, giving you flexibility in tuning your RC car's suspension geometry without needing to switch between extreme oil weights.

Silicone-based shock oils like this TLR product offer several advantages over mineral oils, including better temperature stability, improved shock piston response, and longevity in demanding racing environments. If you're serious about maintaining your RC racing vehicle or tuning your suspension for competition, quality shock fluid is non-negotiable. This TLR product is ideal for UK RC racers who want authentic Team Losi Racing maintenance fluids from an authorised retailer.

Key Features

  • 35WT Viscosity Rating — This medium-weight formulation provides balanced damping for most RC racing conditions, offering a versatile option that works well across different track surfaces and weather conditions without requiring frequent changes between thinner or thicker oils.
  • 420CST Kinematic Viscosity — The precise 420 centistoke rating ensures your shocks respond consistently and predictably, which is essential for maintaining stable handling characteristics throughout a race or practice session when every millisecond counts.
  • Silicone-Based Formula — Silicone shock oils provide superior temperature stability compared to mineral alternatives, meaning your damping characteristics remain consistent whether you're racing in warm summer conditions or cooler UK weather, and your shocks maintain their performance throughout extended practice sessions.
  • 4oz Bottle Size — The 4oz capacity (approximately 120ml) provides sufficient fluid for multiple shock servicing and maintenance cycles, making it practical for keeping in your pit bag or workbench for race day repairs and regular maintenance of your RC buggy or truggy.
  • Team Losi Racing Quality — As an official TLR product, this shock oil meets the engineering standards expected by professional and competitive RC racers who trust Team Losi Racing components for their vehicles.

Technical Performance

The TLR Silicone Shock Oil 35WT represents a carefully formulated suspension maintenance product engineered by Team Losi Racing's team of RC specialists. The 35WT designation indicates medium viscosity, placing it in the middle range of shock oil options commonly used in competitive RC racing. At 420CST kinematic viscosity, this oil provides the precise damping coefficient needed to maintain consistent shock response across different piston speeds and loading conditions. Silicone-based formulations like this offer superior stability across temperature ranges, which is particularly important for UK RC racers who may encounter variable weather conditions throughout a racing season. The oil's performance characteristics ensure that piston movement within shock bodies remains smooth and predictable, allowing drivers to maintain consistent lap times and reliable handling. Whether you're running a 1/10 scale buggy, 1/10 scale truggy, or any other RC racing platform, proper shock maintenance with the correct viscosity fluid is fundamental to achieving optimal suspension performance. This TLR product is manufactured to the exacting standards expected by competitive racers who rely on genuine Team Losi Racing maintenance products.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 35WT viscosity mean and is it right for my RC car? — The WT designation refers to the oil's weight or viscosity grade. 35WT is a medium-weight shock oil suitable for most standard RC racing conditions on various track surfaces. If you're unsure about the correct viscosity for your specific chassis, consult your vehicle's manual or ask experienced RC racers at your local club, as some vehicles perform better with slightly thinner (lighter) or thicker (heavier) oils depending on track conditions and setup preferences.
  • What is 420CST and why does it matter? — CST stands for centistokes, a unit of kinematic viscosity measurement. The 420CST rating is a precise technical specification that ensures your shock oil provides consistent damping performance. This measurement allows RC engineers and tuners to specify exactly which oil viscosity they need, and swapping between different CST ratings allows for suspension tuning without changing other components.
  • Is silicone shock oil better than mineral shock oil? — Silicone-based shock oils like this TLR product offer several advantages over mineral oils, including superior temperature stability (meaning consistent performance in warm and cool conditions), better resistance to oxidation and degradation over time, and improved overall performance in demanding racing environments. For competitive RC racing on tracks across the UK, silicone oils are generally preferred by serious racers.
  • How often should I change my shock oil? — This depends on how frequently you use your RC car and track conditions. Many competitive racers service their shocks regularly (weekly during race season) to maintain peak performance and ensure proper shock operation. Always refer to your specific chassis manual for detailed maintenance guidance.
  • What vehicles use 35WT shock oil? — The 35WT viscosity is a versatile option suitable for many RC racing platforms including 1/10 scale buggies, 1/10 scale truggies, and similar vehicles. However, always consult your vehicle's manual to confirm the correct viscosity for your specific model, as different platforms and tuning setups may require different weights.
