Overview

The Losi 4 x 8 x 3mm Ball Bearing (4) Z-LOS257007 is an essential replacement and upgrade component for RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and precision in their models. Whether you're maintaining your existing Losi RC car or building a custom setup, these ball bearings are engineered to deliver smooth, frictionless rotation in critical areas of your vehicle's drivetrain and suspension. Ball bearings are fundamental to RC performance, reducing friction between moving parts and enabling faster acceleration, smoother handling and longer component lifespan. For anyone serious about their RC car UK experience, quality ball bearings are non-negotiable.

This pack contains four individual 4 x 8 x 3mm ball bearings, making it ideal for replacing worn components or upgrading from stock equipment. Losi is renowned throughout the RC hobby for manufacturing precision components that meet exacting standards, and these bearings are no exception. The compact 4 x 8 x 3mm size makes them compatible with a wide range of Losi ready to run RC vehicles and specialist models, from the 1/18 Mini LMT Brushed Monster Truck range through to the larger 1/6 Super Baja Rey SBR 2.0 brushless desert truck platform. If you're running a Losi model, understanding which components need periodic replacement or upgrade is essential to maintaining peak performance.

RC ball bearings experience constant stress during normal operation, with rotational forces and lateral loads compromising their effectiveness over time. Replacing them with genuine Losi components ensures your RC car continues to perform as the manufacturer intended, delivering responsive steering, smooth acceleration and reliable handling characteristics. Whether you're a weekend basher, a competitive racer or a collector maintaining multiple vehicles, keeping quality spare bearings on hand is sensible preparation.

Key Features

  • Pack of four bearings — This set contains four individual ball bearings, providing enough quantity for typical replacement jobs across multiple vehicles or for upgrading all bearing positions in a single model simultaneously.
  • Precise 4 x 8 x 3mm dimensions — The specific sizing of these bearings ensures they fit exactly into Losi's engineered bearing pockets and housings without play or binding, maintaining the precise tolerances that Losi vehicles are designed to achieve.
  • Genuine Losi manufacture — These bearings are manufactured by Losi to their exacting specifications, ensuring compatibility, durability and performance consistency across all their ready to run RC vehicles and specialist models.
  • Friction reduction — Ball bearings eliminate friction between rotating shafts and their housings, which means faster spool-up, quicker acceleration and more efficient power delivery from your motor to the wheels.
  • Extended component lifespan — Fresh ball bearings reduce wear on connected components including shafts, hubs and carriers, protecting your investment and reducing the frequency of maintenance.
  • Smooth handling characteristics — Quality bearings contribute to the overall smoothness of your RC car UK experience, enabling precise steering input response and predictable suspension behaviour during cornering and braking.

Technical Performance

Ball bearings are precision engineered components manufactured to extremely tight tolerances. The 4 x 8 x 3mm specification indicates the internal bore diameter (4mm), outer diameter (8mm) and width or height (3mm) of each bearing. These dimensions are critical because they determine fit within Losi's proprietary designs. The bearings operate by using a series of hardened steel balls held in a cage, allowing smooth rotation whilst supporting both radial and axial loads. In RC applications, bearings typically experience rotational speeds of several thousand RPM depending on motor KV rating and gearing, alongside lateral forces generated during cornering and acceleration. The quality of bearing manufacture directly impacts drag, heat generation and longevity. Genuine Losi bearings are manufactured from hardened steel with sealed or shielded designs to keep out dirt and moisture, extending their operational life in the demanding environment of RC vehicles. Regular inspection and replacement of worn bearings is part of responsible RC vehicle maintenance, particularly for owners of brushless RC cars and trucks which operate at higher speeds and generate greater forces than their brushed equivalents.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Losi models are these ball bearings compatible with? — These bearings are officially compatible with the Losi 1/18 Mini LMT 4X4 Brushed Monster Truck RTR (Grave Digger, Son-Uva Digger and Zombie 2S variants) and the Losi 1/6 Super Baja Rey SBR 2.0 4WD Brushless Desert Truck RTR in both Blue and Yellow colour options. However, compatibility extends to other Losi models using this bearing size; check your vehicle's parts diagram or contact our team if you're unsure.
  • How often should I replace ball bearings in my RC car? — Replacement frequency depends on usage intensity, maintenance practices and driving conditions. Weekend bashers might replace bearings every 12-18 months, whilst competitive racers may change them more frequently. Regular inspection for excessive play or rough rotation indicates replacement is due. Keeping spare bearings like this set on hand ensures you're never caught without replacements when needed.
  • What's the difference between sealed and open ball bearings? — Sealed bearings contain shields or seals that prevent dirt and water ingress, making them ideal for outdoor use and muddy conditions. Open bearings require more careful maintenance but typically have lower friction. Losi supplies both types depending on application; check your vehicle's documentation to determine which type your model requires.
  • Can I use these bearings in other RC vehicle brands? — Whilst the 4 x 8 x 3mm size is relatively common across the RC industry, we cannot guarantee compatibility with non-Losi vehicles as bearing pocket dimensions vary between manufacturers. Always verify the exact bearing size required by your specific vehicle model before purchasing.
  • Are these bearings already greased? — Genuine Losi bearings are pre-greased and ready to install directly into your vehicle. Do not over-grease them, as excess lubricant generates heat and can reduce performance; simply install them and enjoy improved smoothness.
  • Why buy genuine Losi bearings rather than aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine Losi bearings are engineered and manufactured to work perfectly with Losi vehicles' precise tolerances and specifications. Aftermarket bearings may vary in size, grease composition or steel quality, potentially leading to poor fit, increased drag or premature failure. For ready to run RC vehicles where precision matters, genuine components are recommended.
