Overview

The BLH Aluminum Tail Drive Shaft Lower Bearing Block (Z-BLH1654A) is an essential replacement and upgrade component for Blade RC helicopters, specifically designed to fit the Blade 450 and Blade 400 models. This precision-engineered bearing block forms a critical part of the tail drive system, providing stable support for the tail shaft assembly and ensuring smooth, reliable operation during flight. Whether you're repairing after a crash, replacing worn components, or upgrading your RC helicopter for enhanced performance, this genuine Blade spare part delivers the quality and durability you need to keep your model in top flying condition.

For RC helicopter enthusiasts across the UK, maintaining the integrity of the tail drive system is absolutely crucial for safe and predictable flight characteristics. The tail drive mechanism is responsible for transmitting power to the tail rotor, which controls the helicopter's yaw movement and overall stability. A worn or damaged bearing block can lead to excessive play, vibration, and unpredictable handling, making this component a critical part of routine maintenance and repair work. This aluminium bearing block is manufactured to Blade's exacting specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliable performance with your Blade 450 or Blade 400 RC helicopter.

RC Model Shop specialises in genuine Blade spares and upgrades, stocking a comprehensive range of components to keep your RC helicopter fleet in pristine working order. Whether you're a seasoned RC helicopter pilot, an experienced RC hobbyist, or someone looking to upgrade and maintain their Blade model, we've carefully selected this bearing block because it represents genuine Blade engineering and proven reliability. Order with confidence knowing you're purchasing an authentic component from an authorised retailer.

Key Features

  • Genuine Blade Component — This bearing block is an authentic Blade spare part manufactured to the same exacting standards as the original equipment, ensuring perfect fit, finish and performance with your Blade 450 or Blade 400 helicopter.
  • Aluminium Construction — The aluminium material provides an excellent balance between strength and weight, offering structural rigidity for precise shaft alignment whilst maintaining minimal rotational inertia in the tail drive system.
  • Precision Bearing Support — The lower bearing block position in the tail drive assembly provides critical support and alignment for the tail shaft, reducing play and vibration that could otherwise affect flight stability and control responsiveness.
  • Compatibility with Multiple Models — Designed to fit both the Blade 450 and Blade 400 RC helicopter models, this single component addresses the needs of pilots operating either platform.
  • Easy Replacement — As a straightforward bearing block component, this part is accessible for maintenance and replacement without requiring extensive disassembly, making repairs quick and efficient for experienced RC helicopter builders and pilots.
  • Improved Reliability — Upgrading or replacing a worn bearing block directly improves tail rotor control authority, reducing vibration and enhancing the precision of yaw control inputs during flight.

Technical Performance

The BLH Aluminum Tail Drive Shaft Lower Bearing Block represents precision engineering in RC helicopter component design. The aluminium construction provides excellent stiffness-to-weight characteristics, ensuring the bearing block maintains proper shaft alignment without adding unnecessary mass to the tail drive system. The lower bearing block position is critical to the overall tail rotor drive assembly, as it supports the lower end of the tail shaft and works in conjunction with upper bearing blocks to maintain concentricity and minimize radial runout. Proper bearing block alignment is essential for smooth power transmission from the main gearbox through the tail drive belt system to the tail rotor assembly. This component integrates with the Blade 450 and Blade 400 tail drive systems, which typically employ belt drive mechanisms for their efficiency and smooth operation. The bearing block must support significant rotational forces whilst maintaining precise alignment tolerances, and the aluminium material offers the ideal combination of structural integrity and weight efficiency for this demanding application. When installing or replacing this bearing block, proper alignment with mating components ensures optimal tail rotor response and eliminates the vibration and control lag that can result from worn or misaligned bearing surfaces. This is a component that sees regular operational stress and wear, making periodic inspection and replacement part of responsible RC helicopter maintenance practices.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the BLH Aluminum Tail Drive Shaft Lower Bearing Block suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement and upgrade component intended for RC helicopter builders and pilots with experience in RC helicopter assembly and maintenance. Beginners should consult the manual for their specific Blade 450 or Blade 400 model before attempting installation, or seek guidance from experienced RC helicopter enthusiasts.
  • Which Blade helicopter models does this bearing block fit? — The Z-BLH1654A is specifically designed for the Blade 450 and Blade 400 RC helicopter models. Always verify the part number against your helicopter's manual before ordering to ensure compatibility.
  • How often should the tail drive bearing block be replaced? — The tail drive bearing block is a wear component that should be inspected regularly as part of routine helicopter maintenance. Replace it if you notice excessive play in the tail shaft, vibration during tail rotor operation, or wear visible on the bearing surfaces. Replacement intervals depend on flight frequency and maintenance practices.
  • What is the benefit of upgrading to a genuine Blade bearing block? — Using authentic Blade components ensures perfect fit, materials quality, and engineering alignment with your helicopter's design specifications. Genuine parts maintain the precise tolerances required for smooth tail rotor operation and prevent the control lag and vibration that can result from inferior aftermarket alternatives.
  • Can I install this bearing block myself? — Installation requires disassembly of the tail drive system and knowledge of RC helicopter mechanics. Consult your Blade 450 or Blade 400 manual for detailed assembly and alignment procedures, or seek assistance from experienced RC helicopter builders or authorised service centres.
