Technical Performance
The BLH 3x8x3.5 Thrust Bearing set represents Blade's commitment to precision engineering and reliable performance in RC helicopter components. The designations 3x8x3.5 refer to the bearing dimensions: 3mm bore, 8mm outer diameter, and 3.5mm width. These specifications ensure the bearings fit precisely into the main rotor shaft assembly, supporting the rotational forces without play or wobble. Thrust bearings are fundamentally different from radial bearings because they are specifically designed to handle axial loads — the downward pressure created by the weight of the rotor system and the upward lift forces generated during flight. In RC helicopters, the main rotor shaft experiences continuous stress as it rotates at high speeds while supporting the entire fuselage and payload. The BLH1620 bearings are manufactured from hardened steel races with precision ball elements, allowing them to rotate smoothly whilst withstanding the demanding conditions of RC helicopter flight. The two-bearing design means you have a complete replacement set, which is the standard approach for maintaining thrust bearing systems on models like the Blade 450 and Blade 400. Over time, thrust bearings can wear due to friction and the accumulated stress of thousands of flight cycles, and replacing them restores the helicopter to like-new performance. Genuine Blade components like this bearing set maintain exact specifications for fit, finish, and performance characteristics, ensuring that your RC helicopter operates within its design parameters and maintains the flight characteristics you expect.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a thrust bearing and why do I need replacement thrust bearings for my RC helicopter? — A thrust bearing is a precision component that supports the main rotor shaft and handles the axial (up-and-down) loads created by the weight of the rotor system and the lift forces generated during flight. Thrust bearings experience constant stress and friction, and they gradually wear over time. Replacing worn thrust bearings restores smooth operation, reduces vibration, and ensures your helicopter maintains peak performance. The BLH1620 is the correct replacement bearing set for Blade 450 and Blade 400 models.
- Is the BLH1620 compatible with my Blade helicopter? — Yes, the BLH 3x8x3.5 Thrust Bearing Z-BLH1620 is designed for Blade 450 and Blade 400 RC helicopters. If you are unsure whether this is the correct part for your specific model, we recommend checking your helicopter's instruction manual or contacting our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop.
- How often should I replace thrust bearings on my RC helicopter? — Thrust bearing lifespan depends on flight frequency and conditions. Pilots who fly regularly should inspect their bearings every month or two and replace them if they feel rough, have noticeable play, or show discoloration from heat stress. Replacing bearings as preventative maintenance is often wise for serious RC pilots who want to avoid mid-flight failures.
- What is the difference between the BLH1620 and the older EFLH1420? — The BLH1620 is the direct replacement for the earlier EFLH1420 design. The BLH1620 offers improved reliability and durability whilst maintaining identical dimensions (3x8x3.5mm), ensuring perfect compatibility with your Blade 450 or Blade 400 helicopter.
- Are these genuine Blade parts? — Yes, absolutely. These are authentic Blade thrust bearings manufactured to original equipment specifications. Genuine Blade parts maintain exact fit and performance characteristics, ensuring your RC helicopter operates as intended by the designer.
