Overview
The ARRMA 20T Mod1 Safe-D8 Pinion Gear Z-ARA311040 is a precision-engineered replacement pinion gear designed for ARRMA RC vehicles. Whether you're running a competitive RC car UK setup or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, having quality replacement gears on hand is essential for maintaining peak performance. This pinion gear is manufactured to exacting standards by ARRMA, a recognised leader in high-performance RC vehicle components, ensuring compatibility and reliability with ARRMA drivetrain systems.
Pinion gears are critical components in any RC car's drivetrain, directly affecting acceleration, top speed, and overall performance characteristics. The 20-tooth configuration of this gear makes it ideal for users seeking balanced performance across a variety of driving conditions and terrain types. Whether you're upgrading an existing setup, replacing a worn component, or building a custom RC car from scratch, this pinion gear offers the precision fit and durability you'd expect from an authorised ARRMA component. RC enthusiasts across the UK trust ARRMA components for their reliability and performance credentials.
This is a dedicated component part rather than a complete vehicle, making it perfect for experienced RC hobbyists who understand drivetrain maintenance and customisation. It's the type of replacement part that serious RC car UK enthusiasts keep in their spares box, ensuring they're always ready for the next race or bashing session without downtime waiting for repairs.
Key Features
- 20-Tooth Configuration — The 20-tooth count on this pinion gear provides a balanced performance profile, offering a good middle ground between acceleration and top speed that suits a wide range of driving styles and terrain conditions.
- Mod1 Gear Pitch — The Mod 1 (Module 1) gear pitch is a standard specification in RC vehicle drivetrains, ensuring precise engagement and smooth power delivery to the spur gear when correctly meshed.
- Safe-D8 Bore Design — The Safe-D8 bore is ARRMA's proprietary shaft interface, engineered to provide secure mounting on compatible motors and drivetrain components whilst minimising gear slippage during high-torque situations.
- ARRMA Original Equipment — This is a genuine ARRMA component, not an aftermarket alternative, guaranteeing exact fitment with ARRMA vehicle specifications and the quality standards ARRMA vehicles are designed around.
- Precision Manufacturing — ARRMA pinion gears are manufactured to tight tolerances, ensuring consistent mesh with spur gears and reliable power transmission under racing and bashing conditions alike.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA 20T Mod1 Safe-D8 Pinion Gear represents precision engineering in miniature form. Manufactured using materials and processes that withstand the demands of high-performance RC driving, this gear is designed to integrate seamlessly into ARRMA drivetrain systems. The 20-tooth count balances acceleration response with top-end speed capability, making it suitable for both off-road RC vehicles and various performance applications. The Mod 1 gear pitch ensures compatibility with ARRMA's matching spur gears, and the Safe-D8 bore design secures the gear firmly onto compatible motor shafts, preventing slippage during aggressive acceleration or high-torque scenarios. The precision of the tooth profile and bore machining means you can expect smooth, quiet operation and reliable performance across numerous driving sessions. This is the type of component that, when properly installed with correct meshing against the spur gear, contributes significantly to overall drivetrain efficiency and responsiveness in your RC vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles is this ARRMA 20T Mod1 Safe-D8 Pinion Gear compatible with? — This pinion gear is designed for ARRMA RC vehicles equipped with Mod 1 drivetrain systems and Safe-D8 motor shafts. You should verify your specific model's drivetrain specifications before purchasing. ARRMA produces a wide range of RC vehicles from monster trucks to buggies, so checking your vehicle's documentation or contacting your retailer will confirm compatibility.
- Why would I need to replace my pinion gear? — Pinion gears wear over time through normal use, particularly with heavy use or aggressive driving. Worn teeth can cause poor mesh, reduced efficiency, and increased noise. Regular inspection during maintenance is good practice for RC car UK enthusiasts, and keeping spare gears on hand ensures you can maintain consistent performance without downtime.
- What is a Safe-D8 bore and why does it matter? — The Safe-D8 bore is ARRMA's proprietary shaft interface design. It provides a secure fit on compatible motor shafts with minimal slippage, even under high-torque conditions. This design matters because it ensures reliable power transmission and prevents the gear from spinning on the shaft during hard acceleration or climbing.
- What's the difference between Mod 1 and other gear pitch standards? — Module is a measurement standard for gear tooth size and pitch. Mod 1 gears are smaller than Mod 2, for example. Each module is designed to mesh with matching spur gears of the same module specification. Using the correct module ensures proper engagement and smooth operation. Mixing modules would result in poor mesh, noise, and potential damage.
- Is this a difficult part to install? — Installing a pinion gear requires basic mechanical skills and appropriate tools. You'll need to access your motor assembly and adjust gear mesh to ensure correct engagement with your spur gear. Most experienced RC hobbyists can do this themselves, but if you're new to RC car maintenance, your local RC retailer may offer installation assistance.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Replacement frequency depends on driving intensity and conditions. Casual weekend basher users might replace pinion gears every few months, whilst competitive racers might change them more frequently. Regular inspection during routine maintenance helps you spot wear early.
