Overview

The ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear is an essential replacement and upgrade component for RC car enthusiasts in the UK who demand precision engineering and reliability. Whether you're maintaining your brushless 1/10 scale RC monster truck or optimising your gear ratios for different terrains and driving conditions, this tough steel pinion gear delivers the performance and durability expected from ARRMA's professional-grade parts. This 26-tooth variant is perfect for bashers seeking slightly lower top speed with improved acceleration and torque delivery, making it ideal for technical courses, tight circuits, or drivers who prefer more controllable power delivery than the standard 15T or 23T options.

Crafted with precision manufacturing techniques and constructed from high-quality steel, the ARRMA 26T pinion gear is engineered to withstand the extreme forces generated by brushless motors during aggressive off-road bashing. The Safe-D5 design features a distinctive D-shaped bore that matches the motor shaft profile, preventing drive loss if the set-screw ever backs out during intense driving sessions. This thoughtful engineering detail means you won't lose propulsion mid-run, giving you peace of mind during both casual weekend bashing and competitive racing. The gear is compatible with ARRMA's ecosystem of brushless vehicles, including the popular 1/10 and 1/8 scale RTR truck platforms, making it a valuable part to keep in your RC tool box.

For RC enthusiasts across the UK looking for genuine OEM parts that maintain the quality standards of factory-built vehicles, the ARRMA 26T pinion gear represents excellent value. The precision-manufactured wide tooth profile ensures smooth, quiet operation and reduces gear wear over time, protecting your entire drivetrain and extending the service life of your motor and transmission. Whether you're building your first ready-to-run RC model or you're an experienced basher fine-tuning your vehicle's performance characteristics, having spare pinion gears in different tooth counts gives you the flexibility to adapt your setup to different driving conditions.

Key Features

  • Safe-D5 Design — The distinctive D-shaped bore matches the motor shaft profile perfectly, preventing drive loss if the set-screw accidentally backs out during intensive RC bashing or high-speed runs, ensuring your vehicle won't lose propulsion unexpectedly.
  • High-Quality Steel Construction — Strong and durable steel material provides long-lasting performance in extreme RC conditions, withstanding the constant torque and stress generated by brushless motors without stripping or deforming.
  • Precision-Manufactured Wide Tooth Profile — The carefully engineered tooth geometry ensures smooth, quiet operation with minimal backlash, reducing gear noise and protecting your entire drivetrain from premature wear.
  • 5mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The bore is specifically designed to fit 5mm diameter motor shafts, making it compatible with ARRMA's brushless motor platform used across their 1/10 and 1/8 scale vehicles.
  • Threaded Set-Screw Hole — Precision-manufactured thread receptacle accepts the supplied M4 x 4mm set-screw, providing secure fastening with predictable tightening characteristics and reducing the risk of thread stripping.
  • E-Clip Retention — The supplied 3.2mm E-clip provides secondary retention on the motor shaft, adding an extra layer of security to prevent axial movement and working in conjunction with the set-screw for ultimate reliability.
  • 26-Tooth Configuration — This higher tooth count compared to 13T and 15T options delivers improved acceleration and torque response at the expense of slightly reduced top speed, making it ideal for technical tracks and precision driving.
  • 0.8 Module Pitch — The 0.8 module specification ensures this pinion gear is compatible with ARRMA's 0.8 module spur gears and transmission systems, allowing seamless integration into your existing drivetrain.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear is engineered to work with the powerful brushless motor systems found in ARRMA's 1/10 and 1/8 scale ready-to-run vehicles. The 26-tooth count represents a gear ratio optimisation option that fundamentally changes how your RC truck delivers its power to the wheels. Where a 15T pinion provides maximum top speed at the cost of lower torque, the 26T variant increases the mechanical advantage, resulting in stronger acceleration and better hill-climbing ability at the cost of slightly reduced maximum velocity. This makes the 26T option particularly valuable for UK bashers tackling rough terrain, rocky trails, or technical circuit layouts where throttle control and precise power delivery matter more than all-out speed. The precision-manufactured wide tooth profile ensures that every engagement with the 57T spur gear is smooth and efficient, minimising friction losses and protecting components from shock loads. Combined with the brushless motors available in ARRMA vehicles like the BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX, which features the Spektrum Firma 3200Kv brushless motor paired with the BLX100 ESC, this pinion gear helps optimise the overall power delivery and drivetrain efficiency. The Safe-D5 bore design is particularly important when running high-performance brushless systems, where the increased torque can potentially cause standard pinions to slip on the motor shaft if the fastening isn't absolutely secure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between 15T, 23T, and 26T pinion gears? — The tooth count directly affects your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. The 15T pinion (lowest tooth count) provides maximum top speed with reduced torque, ideal for speed-focused bashers. The 23T offers a middle-ground balance between speed and acceleration. The 26T pinion (highest tooth count) delivers maximum torque and acceleration with slightly lower top speed, making it perfect for technical tracks, climbing obstacles, or drivers who prefer controllable power delivery. You can swap between these options without changing any other components.
  • Will this pinion gear fit my ARRMA brushless RC truck? — The ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear is compatible with ARRMA vehicles that use 5mm motor shafts and 0.8 module drivetrain systems, including the INFRACTION 4X4 1/8 3S BLX Resto-Mod truck and other ARRMA brushless platforms. Check your vehicle's manual or contact us to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
  • What does the Safe-D5 design do? — The Safe-D design features a D-shaped bore that matches your motor shaft's D-shaped profile, preventing the pinion from slipping even if the set-screw backs out. This is crucial for brushless vehicles where high torque can otherwise cause the pinion to rotate independently on the shaft, resulting in complete loss of drive. The D-shape provides mechanical locking as a backup to the set-screw fastening.
  • Do I need any special tools to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires only basic hex key tools to remove your motor plate and access the existing pinion gear. Once removed, slide off the old pinion and E-clip, then install the new 26T gear with the supplied M4 set-screw and E-clip. Most RC bashers can complete the installation in under 10 minutes without specialist equipment.
  • Can I use this pinion with different spur gears? — The ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod pinion is designed to work with 0.8 module spur gears like the 57T spur found in ARRMA vehicles. Do not mix module pitches (0.8Mod with 1.0Mod or 1.35Mod gears), as this will cause improper mesh, noise, and rapid wear.
  • Why would I want a 26T pinion for my ready-to-run RC truck? — The 26T is ideal if you find your vehicle is too fast to control, if you want better acceleration off the line, if you're racing on technical courses with tight corners, or if you're climbing steep hills and obstacles. The increased tooth count trades some top speed for more usable torque in low and mid-range throttle positions.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The ARRMA 26T pinion gear is a straightforward replacement part suitable for all experience levels. Beginners actually benefit from the 26T configuration because it reduces top speed and provides more controllable power delivery, making it easier to learn smooth driving technique. Paired with the throttle limiting features available on many ARRMA transmitters, the 26T creates a very forgiving platform for new RC drivers.
