Technical Performance
The E-flite 30-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC (V2) represents the pinnacle of efficient power management for RC aircraft. Built with high-quality components and proven design principles, this sensorless brushless ESC delivers consistent, reliable performance across a wide range of operating conditions. The switch-mode BEC technology employed here is far more efficient than older linear BEC designs, generating less heat whilst delivering more stable voltage to your receiver and servos. With a maximum continuous current rating of 30 amps (with proper air flow) and burst capability reaching 35 amps for 15 seconds, this ESC can handle the demanding power requirements of modern brushless motors found in everything from small parkflyer aircraft to larger scale RC planes. The 5V, 3.5A BEC output is substantially more powerful than many entry-level ESCs, capable of supporting demanding digital servo systems and advanced 3-axis stabilisation systems without voltage sag or performance degradation. The sensorless design eliminates the need for sensor wiring, reducing complexity and weight whilst maintaining excellent motor control and responsiveness. Built-in programmability allows you to customise timing, braking characteristics, throttle response, and low voltage cutoff thresholds, ensuring the ESC performs optimally with your specific motor and battery combination. The pre-wired EC3 connector and gold-plated bullet connectors ensure excellent electrical connections from day one, whilst the compact form factor allows for easy installation in tight fuselage spaces typical of modern RC aircraft design.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a switch-mode BEC and why does it matter for my RC aircraft? — A switch-mode BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit) uses advanced power electronics to efficiently regulate battery voltage down to the 5 volts needed by your receiver and servos, without the heat generation of older linear designs. This technology is more efficient, runs cooler, and can deliver more current, making it ideal for modern RC aircraft with demanding servo systems and flight stabilisation equipment. The integrated BEC eliminates the need for a separate receiver battery, saving weight and reducing electrical complexity.
- Will this ESC work with my current RC aircraft? — The E-flite 30-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC (V2) is compatible with numerous E-flite, HobbyZone, and ParkZone models, including the EFL2725, EFL2900, EFL3100, EFL3100E, EFL3180, EFL4450, EFL4750, EFL4950, EFL4975, EFL6750, EFL6775, EFL6850, EFL6875, HBZ8200, HBZ8280, and an extensive range of ParkZone models. If your aircraft uses a 30-amp or lower-rated ESC and features a brushless motor, this upgrade is likely compatible, though we recommend verifying with the manufacturer specifications for your specific model.
- What battery does the 30-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC ESC need? — This ESC accepts 3- to 4-cell lithium polymer batteries (LiPo) ranging from 10.8V to 14.8V, or traditional nickel-based batteries such as 9- to 12-cell Ni-MH or Ni-Cd packs. Most modern RC aircraft enthusiasts in the UK opt for 3S or 4S LiPo batteries due to their superior power-to-weight ratio and consistent voltage delivery. Always ensure your battery is rated for at least the continuous current draw of your motor.
- Is the 30-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC ESC suitable for beginners? — Whilst this ESC offers excellent performance and advanced programmability, it is best suited to intermediate and experienced RC pilots who understand brushless motor systems and ESC programming. Beginners may find the programmable features somewhat complex, though the default settings work well with most compatible aircraft. If you're new to brushless RC aircraft, we recommend consulting with our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop for guidance on setup and configuration.
- How much power can this ESC safely handle? — The ESC provides 30 amps of continuous current under proper air flow conditions, with burst capability reaching 35 amps for up to 15 seconds. To ensure safe operation and longevity, ensure your brushless motor is rated for continuous currents at or below 30 amps, and verify that your battery can safely deliver the required current. Always mount the ESC where it receives adequate airflow during flight to maintain safe operating temperatures.
- Can this ESC power 3-axis stabilisation systems? — Yes, the enhanced 5V, 3.5A BEC output is specifically designed to support modern 3-axis stabilisation systems that require more power than traditional servo-only setups. The V2 iteration of this ESC features a stronger BEC circuit compared to earlier versions, making it capable of reliably powering flight stabilisation technology without voltage sag.
- What programming options are available? — The ESC includes programmable settings for motor braking, throttle input range (1.1–1.9ms or 1.2–1.8ms), soft start intensity, motor timing (5 user-selectable ranges), low voltage cutoff thresholds (with specific profiles for 3S Li-Po at 9.2V, 4S Li-Po at 12V, or 74% of battery voltage), and safe power-arm mode. Programming is typically accomplished through a dedicated programming card or via your RC transmitter's programming menus, depending on your specific transmitter model.
