Overview

The Spektrum IC5 Battery Parallel Y-Harness is an essential charging accessory for RC enthusiasts in the UK who operate multiple IC5-equipped batteries. This 6-inch parallel harness allows you to charge two IC5 LiPo batteries simultaneously, dramatically reducing your overall charging time and increasing your track or field time. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or dedicated RC car UK hobbyist, having the ability to parallel charge your battery packs is a game-changer that keeps you in the action longer.

Manufactured by Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC power systems and charging technology, this parallel Y-harness is engineered with quality and reliability in mind. The harness features 10 AWG wiring, which provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst maintaining flexibility for easy connection and disconnection. This accessory is particularly valuable for anyone running brushless RC vehicles, as they demand consistent power delivery and benefit greatly from having multiple batteries charged and ready to go.

The IC5 connector system has become the standard for high-performance RC applications, and this parallel harness is purpose-designed to work seamlessly with IC5-compatible battery packs. It's the perfect addition to any RC car UK enthusiast's charging setup, offering convenience, safety and efficiency in one compact package.

Key Features

  • IC5 Connector Compatibility — This harness uses the IC5 connector type, which is the standard connector found on modern Spektrum and other premium RC batteries, ensuring reliable connection and safe power delivery to your charger.
  • Parallel Charging Capability — The Y-harness design allows you to connect two IC5 batteries to a single charger port simultaneously, cutting your charging time in half and enabling you to have fully charged packs ready for back-to-back runs.
  • 10 AWG Wire Gauge — The 10 AWG copper wiring provides excellent current-carrying capacity, minimising voltage drop and heat generation during the charging process, which is critical for maintaining battery health and charging efficiency.
  • 6-Inch Cable Length — The 150mm (6-inch) cable length provides sufficient reach from your charger to your batteries without excessive wire routing, making it practical for both stationary chargers and portable charging setups at the track.
  • Durable Construction — Built to Spektrum's quality standards, this harness is engineered to withstand the demands of frequent use, whether you're a competitive racer or casual hobbyist in the UK RC scene.
  • Convenience and Safety — Rather than charging batteries sequentially (one after another), this parallel harness lets you charge multiple packs together, improving workflow and reducing the risk of over-charging a single battery.

Technical Performance

The Spektrum IC5 Battery Parallel Y-Harness is engineered with precision to deliver reliable performance in demanding RC applications. The 10 AWG wiring specification is critical here — this gauge provides the optimal balance between current capacity and cable flexibility for RC battery charging. The AWG rating (American Wire Gauge) directly correlates to the harness's ability to safely handle the current flow from your charger without overheating or experiencing significant voltage drop. With two IC5 batteries connected in parallel, each battery receives an equal share of the charging current, allowing a charger with appropriate capacity to charge both packs simultaneously. This is particularly important for high-capacity LiPo batteries used in brushless RC cars, trucks and buggies, where fast and efficient charging can mean the difference between winning and sitting on the sidelines. The 6-inch cable length is precisely sized to provide convenient routing without creating unnecessary wire clutter, important for safety and convenience whether you're charging at home or at the track. The IC5 connector type ensures secure, low-resistance connections that minimise power loss and heat generation — critical factors in charging lithium polymer batteries where safety and efficiency are paramount.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a parallel Y-harness do and why would I need one? — A parallel Y-harness allows you to connect two IC5 batteries to a single charger port at the same time. Instead of charging one battery, waiting for it to finish, then charging a second battery (which doubles your charging time), the Y-harness lets you charge both simultaneously. This is essential if you run multiple batteries and want to maximise your track time or practice sessions. You'll always have a charged pack ready while the other is in use.
  • Will this work with my current charger? — This parallel Y-harness is designed for any charger that supports IC5 connectors and has appropriate power output capacity. Your charger must be capable of handling the current draw of charging two batteries in parallel. We recommend checking your charger's specifications or contacting our team at RC Model Shop to ensure compatibility with your specific charging setup.
  • Is parallel charging safe for my LiPo batteries? — Yes, parallel charging is safe and widely used in the RC hobby when done correctly. The key is ensuring both batteries have similar voltage levels before connecting them in parallel, and using a quality charger designed to handle parallel charging. The Spektrum harness is engineered to enable safe parallel charging with proper equipment.
  • What is the difference between 10 AWG and smaller wire gauges? — The AWG (American Wire Gauge) specification indicates the diameter of the wire. Lower numbers mean thicker wire with greater current-carrying capacity. 10 AWG is a substantial gauge that's ideal for RC battery charging, providing excellent safety margins and minimal voltage drop compared to thinner 12 or 14 AWG alternatives. This means faster, more efficient charging and less heat generation.
  • Can I use this harness with different battery brands? — This harness works with any battery pack that features IC5 connectors, including Spektrum batteries and other premium RC battery brands that have adopted the IC5 standard. The IC5 connector is becoming the industry standard for high-performance RC applications.
  • How long are the cable leads on this harness? — Each branch of the Y-harness features 6-inch (150mm) cable leads, providing convenient reach from your charger to your batteries without excess wire length that could create clutter or safety hazards.
