Overview
The LOGIC Heat Shrink (1m Red/1m Black) 10mm O-LG-HS10 is an essential accessory for any RC enthusiast, whether you're building your first RC car UK model or maintaining a competition-grade brushless RC setup. This professional-grade heat shrink tubing provides a durable, neat and reliable solution for insulating joints, reinforcing soldered connections and colour-coding wiring across all types of RC models and general electronics. Supplied in both red and black colours for easy identification and organisation, this tubing simply slips over your connection and recovers tightly when heated for a clean, professional finish that looks as good as it protects.
Heat shrink is one of those often-overlooked but absolutely critical components that separates amateur wiring from professional work. Whether you're assembling a ready to run RC buggy, upgrading your brushless RC motor installation, or simply tidying up the electrical connections on your crawler or stadium truck, quality heat shrink tubing is indispensable. The 10mm diameter size is perfect for covering larger diameter wires and connections commonly found in 1/8 scale and larger RC vehicles, as well as thicker battery leads and ESC connections that need reliable protection and insulation.
Available from RC Model Shop, a trusted UK RC retailer, this heat shrink offers outstanding value and reliability. The pack contains a generous 2 metres of tubing in total (1 metre red, 1 metre black), giving you plenty of material for multiple projects or to keep in your workshop for future builds and repairs.
Key Features
- Dual Colour Supply — This pack includes 1 metre of red heat shrink and 1 metre of black heat shrink, allowing you to colour-code your wiring for easy identification and organisation across your RC model, which is particularly useful when managing multiple battery leads, motor connections and ESC wiring in complex setups.
- Professional Grade Construction — The tubing is flexible and designed to maintain its integrity across a wide operating temperature range from -45°C to 125°C, ensuring reliable performance whether you're running your RC car UK in winter conditions or pushing your brushless RC motor hard during summer racing.
- Flame Retardant Material — The tubing is manufactured from flame retardant material that produces low smoke if burned, providing an extra safety layer for your valuable RC equipment and giving you peace of mind during high-performance running sessions.
- 3:1 Shrink Ratio — The tubing features approximately a 3:1 shrink ratio, meaning that the 10mm expanded diameter will recover to around 3.3mm when properly heated, providing a snug fit that locks connections in place securely.
- Easy Application — Simply slide the expanded tubing over your connection, then apply gentle heat using a heat gun, soldering iron tip, or even a lighter (carefully!) to activate the shrinking process and create a watertight, insulated seal.
- Multiple Applications — Perfect for cable and terminal insulation, cable marking to identify different circuits, mechanical protection of vulnerable connections, and colour coding your wiring to match your RC build's aesthetic or your personal organisation system.
- Optimal Sizing for 10mm Wires — The 10mm nominal size is perfectly calibrated for wires and connections up to 10mm in diameter, making it ideal for larger gauge battery leads, motor connectors and power distribution in mid to large-scale RC vehicles.
Technical Performance
The LOGIC Heat Shrink tubing represents a considerable step up in build quality and reliability compared to cheaper alternatives commonly found in generic electronics suppliers. The tubing is constructed from premium materials that deliver consistent performance across demanding operating conditions. With an un-shrunk expanded diameter of 12mm, the tubing comfortably accommodates wires and connections up to 10mm in diameter without tension or stretching, which is crucial for maintaining proper insulation integrity. Once heated to the shrink temperature of 125°C, the tubing recovers to approximately 4mm diameter, creating a compression fit that holds connections securely in place and prevents accidental disconnection or slippage. The lay flat width measures 18.8mm, which is useful reference information when working with the material before application. The flexible construction means the tubing will conform to irregular connection shapes and sizes, unlike rigid alternatives. The flame retardant properties and low smoke output make this material significantly safer than standard PVC alternatives, particularly important when working with battery connections where safety is paramount. The -45°C to 125°C operating temperature range covers virtually every scenario UK RC enthusiasts will encounter, from cold winter outdoor running to high-power summer sessions where connections heat up during use.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What size wires and connections will this 10mm heat shrink fit over? — The 10mm nominal heat shrink is designed to slide over wires and connections up to 10mm in diameter. The expanded internal diameter is approximately 12mm, which provides about 20% extra space, allowing it to comfortably fit over your 10mm connections without being too loose or difficult to apply. Once heated and shrunk, it recovers to approximately 4mm diameter, creating a tight, secure seal.
- How do I apply heat shrink tubing properly? — Slide the expanded tubing over your connection or wire, then apply gentle, even heat using a heat gun, the tip of a soldering iron held nearby (not touching), or carefully with a lighter, keeping the flame moving to avoid scorching. The tubing will visibly contract as it reaches the 125°C activation temperature. Continue heating until the shrinking process is complete and the tubing clings tightly to the connection. For best results, ensure even heat distribution across the entire length you're shrinking.
- Is this heat shrink suitable for battery connections in my RC car UK? — Absolutely, yes. This heat shrink is ideal for protecting large diameter battery leads and connectors commonly found in RC cars, trucks, buggies and other models. The flame retardant properties and low smoke output make it particularly suitable for high-power applications where safety is essential. Many RC enthusiasts use red heat shrink for positive connections and black for negative connections, which this pack supplies perfectly.
- What is the difference between the 3:1 shrink ratio mentioned and what this means for my setup? — The 3:1 shrink ratio means the tubing will contract to approximately one-third of its expanded diameter when heated. Your 12mm expanded tubing will shrink to roughly 4mm diameter, providing a snug compression fit over 10mm connections. This ratio ensures the final result won't be too loose or too tight, striking the perfect balance for reliable mechanical and electrical protection.
- Can I use this heat shrink for applications other than RC models? — Certainly. The LOGIC Heat Shrink is equally suitable for general electronics repair and building, audio equipment wiring, automotive electrical work, computer cable management, and any application requiring flexible tubing for insulation, protection or colour coding. The flame retardant properties make it particularly valuable for any safety-critical application.
- How much heat shrink do I get in this pack? — You receive 2 metres of tubing in total: 1 metre in red and 1 metre in black. For most RC builds, this provides plenty of material for multiple projects, typical battery lead protection, motor connections, ESC wiring and general maintenance work, with extra left over for future repairs.
- What temperature does this heat shrink require to activate? — The shrink temperature is 125°C, which is easily achievable with a heat gun, soldering iron, or even a lighter. This relatively low activation temperature means you won't need expensive specialist equipment and can apply it anywhere you have a basic heat source available in your workshop.
