The fixed timing design eliminates the need for complex adjustment procedures, allowing you to install and run your RC car quickly and confidently. Whether you're a seasoned RC racer looking for a dependable replacement or a newcomer to the RC hobby discovering the world of electric-powered RC vehicles for the first time, the Dynamite 20T motor provides the performance and reliability you need without unnecessary complexity.

Manufactured by Dynamite, a trusted name in RC motorsport, this motor benefits from durable construction and proven engineering. With support for both traditional Ni-Cd/Ni-MH battery packs and modern 2S LiPo batteries, the DYN1171 adapts to your preferred power source, making it an excellent investment whether you're building a new RC car UK setup or maintaining an existing fleet of vehicles. The motor's compatibility with numerous ECX-platform vehicles further extends its utility across the RC hobby market.

Key Features

  • 20-Turn Brushed Design — The 20-turn winding configuration provides balanced torque and speed delivery, making this motor suitable for a wide variety of RC applications and driving styles without sacrificing power or efficiency.
  • Flexible Power Supply Options — Compatible with both traditional 4–8 Ni-Cd/Ni-MH cell battery packs and modern 2S Li-Po batteries operating within the 4.8–9.6V range, giving you complete flexibility in your power source choice and allowing you to upgrade your RC setup as your preferences evolve.
  • Durable Bushing Construction — The motor features robust bushings rather than ball bearings, providing excellent durability and reliability whilst maintaining low friction and smooth rotation even during extended use or demanding driving conditions.
  • Fixed Timing for Hassle-Free Setup — With non-adjustable timing, this motor eliminates the need for complex timing adjustments, allowing you to focus on enjoying your RC car rather than spending time on technical configuration.
  • Standard Shaft Specifications — The 3.175mm (0.125 inch) diameter shaft with a 15.5mm (0.60 inch) length ensures compatibility with a vast range of pinion gears and RC vehicle platforms, particularly within the ECX range of vehicles.
  • Proven ECX Compatibility — Officially compatible with an extensive range of ECX vehicle platforms including the ECX Amp and ECX Boost series, as well as numerous other ECX models, making this motor a drop-in upgrade for countless RC enthusiasts.

Technical Performance

The Dynamite 20-Turn Brushed Motor delivers solid technical performance across its entire operating range. Operating within a 4.8–9.6V envelope, this motor is engineered to work efficiently whether you're powering it with traditional Ni-Cd or Ni-MH battery packs (4–8 cells) or embracing modern lithium polymer technology with a 2S Li-Po battery setup. The 20-turn configuration strikes an excellent balance between torque delivery and rotational speed, making it suitable for both recreational bashing and more serious RC racing applications. The durable bushing-based design ensures that the motor maintains consistent performance throughout its operational life, with minimal maintenance requirements compared to some alternatives. The standard 3.175mm shaft diameter and 15.5mm shaft length represent industry-standard specifications that have been refined through decades of RC motorsport development, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of modern RC drivetrains. The brushed motor architecture inherently provides good throttle response and intuitive control characteristics, making it particularly well-suited for drivers who prefer the feel and behaviour of brushed motors or who are operating vehicles that were originally designed for this motor type. Build quality throughout the motor reflects Dynamite's reputation for engineering excellence, with properly wound coils, quality magnets, and precision machining contributing to a motor that performs reliably year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a 20-turn motor and other turn counts? — Turn count directly affects the balance between speed and torque in your RC motor. A 20-turn brushed motor offers a moderate balance suitable for general-purpose RC driving. Lower turn counts (such as 15T or 17T) deliver higher speed but less torque, whilst higher turn counts (such as 25T or 27T) provide more torque at the expense of top speed. The 20T configuration makes the DYN1171 an excellent all-around choice for most RC applications without requiring specialised driving techniques or setups.
  • Is the Dynamite 20-Turn Brushed Motor suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The fixed timing design eliminates complex tuning requirements, and brushed motors are inherently more forgiving and easier to understand than brushless alternatives. The straightforward operation and proven reliability make this motor an excellent choice for newcomers to the RC hobby, whilst the standard specifications ensure widespread compatibility with beginner-friendly RC vehicles.
  • What battery does the Dynamite DYN1171 motor need? — The motor operates on 4–8 Ni-Cd or Ni-MH cells (producing 4.8–9.6V) or a 2S Li-Po battery. Most commonly, people use either traditional 4-cell or 8-cell battery packs, or modern 2S LiPo packs. Your specific choice depends on your RC vehicle platform and your personal preference regarding battery technology. Always ensure your ESC is rated for your chosen battery type.
  • What vehicles is this motor compatible with? — The Dynamite 20-Turn Brushed Motor is officially compatible with numerous ECX-platform vehicles, including the ECX Amp series (ECX03000, ECX03001, ECX03004, ECX03005, ECX03020, ECX03021, ECX03024, ECX03025), ECX Boost models (ECX03028T1, ECX03028T2, ECX03029T1, ECX03029T2, ECX03030T1, ECX03030T2, ECX03032T1, ECX03032T2, ECX03034), and various other ECX platforms including ECX1000, ECX1100, ECX2000, ECX2100, ECX3000, ECX3100, ECX4000, and ECX4100. The standard 3.175mm shaft and 15.5mm shaft length also make it compatible with many other RC vehicles beyond the ECX range, provided they were originally designed for brushed motors of this specification.
  • Does this motor require timing adjustment? — No. The Dynamite 20-Turn Brushed Motor features fixed, non-adjustable timing. This simplifies installation and eliminates the need for timing adjustment procedures, making it ideal for users who want reliability and ease of use without the complexity of tunable timing systems.
  • Can I upgrade from an older motor to the DYN1171? — If your RC vehicle was originally designed for a 20-turn brushed motor with a 3.175mm shaft, the DYN1171 is likely a direct replacement. Check your vehicle's documentation or contact our team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
