Overview

Upgrade your RC car's suspension with the ARRMA Shock Springs 60mm 1.35n/mm 9.7lb/in (2): 6S, a precision-engineered suspension component designed to fine-tune your vehicle's handling characteristics. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning a brushless RC buggy, a weekend basher pushing your 4WD through rough terrain, or an RC enthusiast in the UK looking to optimise your model's performance, these high-quality shock springs offer the tuning precision you need in seconds. As an authorised ARRMA retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine replacement and upgrade parts for your RC car UK setup, ensuring you get authentic components that maintain the performance standards your vehicle was designed to achieve.

These shock springs are essential suspension components for ARRMA 6S models, including the popular 1/8 scale TALION 6S RTR brushless speed truck and TYPHON 6S TLR tuned 4WD buggy platforms. By changing your shock spring stiffness, you can dramatically alter how your RC vehicle responds to bumps, corners and acceleration, making suspension tuning one of the most effective ways to improve handling without major chassis modifications. The included pair allows you to upgrade both front and rear shocks or experiment with different spring rates to dial in the perfect balance for your driving style and track conditions.

Spring rate selection is one of the most fundamental aspects of RC vehicle setup, and having quality replacement springs on hand means you can adapt your ready to run RC truck or buggy to different driving environments instantly. Whether you're running on tarmac, grass, dirt, or concrete, the ability to swap springs in seconds gives you the flexibility to achieve optimal suspension performance every time you hit the track.

Key Features

  • Precision Manufactured Spring Steel — These shock springs are manufactured from precision-engineered spring steel, which ensures consistent performance across repeated compression and extension cycles, eliminating the performance degradation that can occur with lower-quality springs over time.
  • 60mm Length Specification — The 60mm length is specifically engineered for ARRMA 6S platform vehicles, ensuring perfect fitment and maintaining the correct suspension geometry for optimal handling characteristics.
  • 1.35N/mm Spring Rate — The 1.35N/mm (equivalent to 9.7lb/in) spring rate provides a balanced suspension setup suitable for general-purpose RC driving, offering responsive handling without excessive harshness over rough terrain.
  • Long-Lasting Durability — The premium spring steel construction resists fatigue and maintains its spring characteristics through thousands of compression cycles, providing reliable performance throughout the lifespan of your RC vehicle.
  • Rapid Tuning Capability — Installing these springs takes only seconds, allowing you to experiment with different suspension setups and find the optimal spring rate for your specific driving conditions without spending hours disassembling your RC car.
  • Pair Included — The package includes two springs, allowing you to upgrade both front and rear shock absorbers or maintain a spare set for backup during racing events and competition driving.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Springs 60mm 1.35n/mm 9.7lb/in represent a critical suspension component for ARRMA 6S scale RC vehicles. Spring rate, measured in both N/mm (metric) and lb/in (imperial), directly influences suspension stiffness and therefore vehicle handling behaviour. At 1.35N/mm (9.7lb/in), these springs offer a moderate stiffness level that provides a good balance between comfort over bumps and responsiveness through corners. The 60mm length is specifically engineered to match the OEM suspension geometry of ARRMA 6S platforms including the TALION 6S 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck and the TYPHON 6S TLR tuned 4WD buggy, ensuring that fitment is perfect and suspension kinematics remain unchanged. The precision manufacturing process ensures minimal variance between individual springs, meaning both springs in the pair perform identically, maintaining balanced handling characteristics across the front and rear axles. Spring steel is chosen for its ability to return to its original shape thousands of times without permanent deformation, a characteristic essential for reliable RC vehicle performance. For UK RC enthusiasts running 6S LiPo-powered platforms, these springs provide the suspension compliance needed to maintain traction while delivering predictable handling feedback that allows drivers to exploit the full performance potential of their brushless RC trucks and buggies.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ARRMA models are these shock springs compatible with? — According to ARRMA's official fitment data, these 60mm 1.35N/mm springs are standard parts for the ARRMA 1/8 TALION 6S 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck (model ARA106048), the ARRMA 1/8 TALION 6S EXB AVC 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck (model ARA8707), and the ARRMA 1/8 TYPHON 6S TLR tuned 4X4 RTR brushless buggy (model ARA8406). They may also be suitable for other ARRMA 6S platforms, but we recommend checking compatibility with your specific model before purchase.
  • What does the spring rate 1.35N/mm mean and how does it affect my RC car? — Spring rate measures how stiff a spring is: higher N/mm values mean stiffer springs that resist compression more strongly, while lower values mean softer springs that compress more easily. The 1.35N/mm (9.7lb/in) rate on these springs provides a balanced setup suitable for general RC driving, offering good traction over bumps while maintaining responsive cornering performance. Softer springs would improve comfort over rough terrain but reduce cornering precision, whilst stiffer springs would improve handling sharpness but transmit more shock to the chassis on bumpy surfaces.
  • Why should I upgrade to quality shock springs like these? — Original equipment springs can lose their spring characteristics over time through metal fatigue, especially if your RC vehicle sees frequent use or racing. These precision manufactured ARRMA shock springs maintain consistent performance through thousands of compression cycles, ensuring reliable, predictable handling every time you drive. Upgrading also allows you to experiment with different spring rates to optimise your vehicle's suspension tuning for different track conditions.
  • Can I use these springs on other RC vehicles? — No, these springs are specifically engineered for ARRMA 6S platforms with 60mm shock absorber bodies. Using them on vehicles with different shock lengths or spring mounting systems would result in poor fitment and incorrect suspension geometry, potentially causing handling issues or damage to suspension components.
  • How do I know if my springs need replacing? — If your RC vehicle feels less responsive than before, rides lower than normal, or has inconsistent handling between corners, your springs may have lost their stiffness through fatigue. These replacement springs will restore your vehicle to its original suspension performance characteristics.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, these shock springs are essential maintenance parts for anyone operating an ARRMA 6S RC vehicle. Whilst spring selection and tuning is an advanced aspect of RC vehicle setup, simply maintaining fresh springs at the correct rate is important for all drivers, from complete beginners with ready to run RC trucks through to serious competitors.
