Overview
The FTX Crossbow Rear Dogbone Driveshafts represent a genuine OEM replacement part designed specifically for the FTX Crossbow 1/10 Brushless Truggy Truck. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast running a competition-grade truggy or a weekend basher pushing your RC vehicle to its limits, these driveshafts are essential wear items that maintain the power delivery and handling characteristics of your truck. As an authorised FTX retailer based in the UK, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM parts to keep your RC cars running at peak performance.
Dogbone driveshafts are critical suspension and drivetrain components that transmit rotational power from the transmission to the rear wheels whilst allowing the suspension to articulate and compress freely. Over time, through normal use, driveshafts can wear, develop play, or become damaged through aggressive driving or impacts. The FTX Crossbow Rear Dogbone Driveshafts (pr) — supplied as a pair — offer a cost-effective way to restore your truck's handling and power delivery without replacing the entire drivetrain assembly. This is the exact part fitted to new FTX Crossbow trucks and is manufactured to OEM specifications.
If you're experiencing vibration, clunking noises from the rear axles, or noticed your truck doesn't handle as crisply as it did when new, worn driveshafts could be the culprit. Replacing them with genuine FTX parts ensures compatibility, reliability and the same performance your truck delivered fresh from the box. At RC Model Shop, we're committed to helping UK RC enthusiasts maintain and upgrade their vehicles with genuine parts and expert guidance.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM FTX Part — These are the original equipment manufacturer driveshafts specified for the FTX Crossbow, ensuring perfect fit, correct tolerances and proven reliability without compatibility concerns or fitment issues.
- Supplied as a Pair — You receive both rear dogbone driveshafts in a single package, making it convenient to replace both sides at once for balanced handling and consistent suspension performance across the axle.
- Direct Replacement for FTX Crossbow — Designed to fit the FTX5490GN and FTX5490BL models (FTX Crossbow 1/10 Brushless Truggy Truck RTR in Green and Blue respectively), these shafts slot directly into your existing suspension without modification or adaptation.
- Restores Suspension Articulation — Dogbone driveshafts allow the rear suspension to move independently whilst maintaining power delivery to both rear wheels, crucial for maintaining traction and control on uneven terrain during RC racing or recreational driving.
- Essential Wear Item — As with all mechanical driveshafts in RC vehicles, these components wear with use and are a normal part of maintenance and upkeep, particularly if you drive aggressively or frequently.
- Affordable Maintenance Solution — Replacing just the driveshafts is significantly more cost-effective than replacing complete axle assemblies, allowing you to keep your RC truck running without major expense.
Technical Performance
The FTX Crossbow Rear Dogbone Driveshafts are engineered to handle the demands of 1/10 scale brushless truggy driving. As part of the FTX Crossbow platform — a high-performance 1/10 brushless truggy truck — these driveshafts must transmit significant torque from the brushless motor through the transmission to the rear wheels whilst flexing to accommodate suspension travel. The dogbone design (also known as a CV driveshaft or universal joint shaft) is the standard in modern RC rock crawlers and truggies because it allows both vertical suspension articulation and rotational power delivery simultaneously. FTX manufactures these shafts from proven materials that balance durability with weight, ensuring they can withstand the repeated acceleration, braking and turning forces encountered during typical RC truck operation. The precision engineering ensures minimal backlash (play) in the drivetrain, which translates to crisp, responsive handling and efficient power transfer from your brushless motor to the ground. These shafts work in harmony with the FTX Crossbow's 1/10 brushless drivetrain system, and their replacement is part of normal maintenance for any RC vehicle driven regularly or competitively.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a dogbone driveshaft and why does my RC truck need it? — A dogbone driveshaft (or universal joint shaft) is a component that transmits power from the transmission to the wheels whilst allowing the suspension to move up and down. It's essential in RC trucks because without it, the suspension couldn't articulate freely whilst maintaining power delivery to the wheels. Over time with use, these shafts wear and can develop play or damage, affecting handling and efficiency.
- How do I know if my FTX Crossbow driveshafts need replacing? — Signs of worn or damaged driveshafts include clunking or clicking noises coming from the rear axles, vibration during acceleration, reduced traction, or visible play in the rear suspension when you move the wheels by hand. If you notice any of these symptoms, replacement driveshafts should restore normal operation.
- Are these compatible with all FTX Crossbow models? — Yes, these FTX11010 rear dogbone driveshafts are designed for the FTX Crossbow 1/10 Brushless Truggy Truck RTR. They are confirmed compatible with both the FTX5490GN (Green) and FTX5490BL (Blue) versions of the Crossbow.
- Do I need any tools or special skills to fit these driveshafts? — Replacing dogbone driveshafts requires basic RC maintenance knowledge and standard tools like hex keys and screwdrivers. The shafts bolt into the transmission and rear axle through simple connection points. If you're unfamiliar with RC truck maintenance, our team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance or recommend a local RC hobby shop that offers fitting services.
- Will these improve my truck's performance? — If your current driveshafts are worn, replacing them with these genuine FTX shafts will restore your truck's original handling, responsiveness and efficiency. If your shafts are already in good condition, replacement will not upgrade performance but is recommended as preventative maintenance to avoid future problems.
- Are these genuine FTX parts? — Yes, these are original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts supplied by FTX and stocked by RC Model Shop as an authorised retailer. You can be confident of authentic quality and correct specifications.
