Overview

The RPM Oversized Rear Axle Carriers for Traxxas X-Maxx represent a premium suspension upgrade designed specifically for drivers who demand maximum durability and performance from their RC monster truck. Whether you're a serious basher pushing your X-Maxx to its limits or a competitive racer seeking reliability under extreme conditions, these carriers solve the two most critical issues facing X-Maxx owners: bearing longevity and structural integrity. If you've ever experienced a blown rear bearing or a cracked stock axle carrier, this upgrade is an absolute game-changer that transforms your truck's resilience and handling characteristics.

The Traxxas X-Maxx is one of the most powerful brushless monster trucks available in the UK RC market, and its sheer power output demands suspension components that can handle serious abuse. Stock Traxxas axle carriers, whilst adequate for casual use, become a weak point when you're regularly subjecting your machine to aggressive driving, high-speed impacts, and extended bashing sessions. RPM recognised this limitation and engineered these oversized carriers specifically to eliminate this bottleneck, ensuring your suspension can match the capability of your motor and ESC. These are purpose-built components for drivers who refuse to compromise on reliability, performance, or longevity.

Available now at RC Model Shop, these carriers represent a modest investment in peace of mind and significantly extended component lifespan. Whether you're running your X-Maxx on a local track, across rough terrain, or in competition, the upgrade from stock to RPM oversized carriers is one of the most impactful suspension modifications you can make.

Key Features

  • Oversized Inner Bearings (20x32x7mm) — The stock Traxxas inner bearings measure just 20x27x4mm, but RPM's oversized bearings are a dramatic 20x32x7mm, delivering 5mm additional diameter and 3mm extra width. This seemingly small increase translates to a dynamic load rating nearly 300% higher than stock and a static load rating exceeding 300%, meaning your rear axle can handle vastly greater forces before failure occurs.
  • Massive Support Ribs — The carriers are engineered with substantial internal support ribs that dramatically increase structural rigidity and resistance to cracking or bending under extreme load. This beefy construction ensures the carriers remain perfectly aligned even during aggressive cornering, jumps, and high-impact collisions that would damage weaker designs.
  • Direct Stock Replacement — These carriers are engineered as a direct replacement for stock Traxxas part number 7752, meaning installation is straightforward with no modifications or additional parts required. Compatibility is guaranteed across all X-Maxx variants including the belted 4WD brushless RTR models and the X-Maxx Ultimate versions.
  • Sold in Pairs — Each package includes both a left and right carrier, plus two oversized inner bearings (one for each side), eliminating the need for separate purchases. Outer bearings are standard Traxxas items (part number 5106 or 5106A) which are not included but are readily available.
  • Durable Black Moulded Construction — The carriers are injection-moulded in black composite material that provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio whilst maintaining the aesthetic consistency of your machine. The material formulation is specifically selected for resistance to impacts and durability under repeated stress cycles.
  • Proven Upgrade Path — These carriers address the most commonly reported durability issues from X-Maxx owners, making them a trusted upgrade choice amongst the UK RC community. If you've blown a stock rear bearing or cracked a stock carrier, these components are the proven solution.

Technical Performance

The engineering advantage delivered by these oversized rear axle carriers cannot be overstated. The jump from 20x27x4mm to 20x32x7mm bearings represents a fundamental improvement in load-carrying capacity that directly correlates to extended component lifespan and reduced maintenance requirements. When you examine the numbers, the dynamic load rating increase of nearly 300% and static load rating increase exceeding 300% demonstrates that RPM has not simply made the bearings slightly larger—they've fundamentally transformed how much stress your rear suspension can sustain. For drivers of the powerful Traxxas X-Maxx brushless system, this margin of additional capacity is the difference between occasional bearing failures and years of reliable operation. The carriers themselves benefit from engineering that emphasises structural integrity through massive support ribs that prevent flex and misalignment, both critical factors in maintaining bearing longevity and reducing wear. The moulded black composite construction provides excellent impact resistance whilst maintaining a lightweight profile that doesn't compromise the truck's acceleration or handling characteristics. Installation is seamless as a direct replacement for Traxxas part 7752, meaning you retain full compatibility with all X-Maxx variants and can upgrade without modifying other suspension components. Important to note: RPM bearings are shipped with a light rust preventative oil that is not suitable for proper operational lubrication, so carefully remove one bearing shield and apply a thin coat of your preferred bearing lubricant before first use to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these oversized rear axle carriers fit my Traxxas X-Maxx? — Yes, absolutely. These carriers are engineered as a direct replacement for stock Traxxas part number 7752 and are compatible with all Traxxas X-Maxx variants including the belted 4WD brushless RTR models in all colours (orange, blue, red, green) and the X-Maxx Ultimate versions. Installation requires no modifications and no additional parts beyond what's included in the box.
  • How much stronger are these carriers compared to stock? — The oversized bearings deliver a dynamic load rating nearly 300% higher than the stock Traxxas bearings, and the static load rating exceeds 300% higher. This dramatic improvement in load capacity directly translates to significantly extended component lifespan, particularly in the rear suspension under high-power driving conditions.
  • Are these suitable for high-speed bashing and racing? — These carriers are specifically engineered for drivers who demand maximum durability, making them ideal for both aggressive bashing and competitive racing. If you've experienced bearing failures or carrier cracks with stock components, these oversized alternatives are the proven solution.
  • What bearing lubricant should I use? — RPM bearings ship with a light rust preventative oil that is not suitable for operational lubrication. Before first use, carefully remove one of the bearing shields and apply a thin coat of your preferred bearing lubricant to ensure optimal performance and lifespan. Standard RC bearing oils and greases are suitable.
  • Are outer bearings included? — No, outer bearings are not included in this kit. You'll need to use your existing Traxxas outer bearings (part number 5106 or 5106A), which are standard stock components. Only the oversized inner bearings are provided, as the outer bearings remain the same as stock.
  • Why is this upgrade necessary? — The stock Traxxas rear bearings and carriers are a known weak point on the X-Maxx, particularly under the enormous power output of the brushless system. RPM's oversized carriers address both durability and bearing capacity, eliminating one of the most common failure points reported by X-Maxx owners and delivering peace of mind for extended bashing and competitive use.
