Overview

The Traxxas Steering Blocks (TRX3636A) are precision-engineered aluminium components designed specifically for Traxxas Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit RC vehicles. These high-quality steering blocks represent an essential upgrade for any RC enthusiast looking to improve the appearance, durability, and control characteristics of their ready-to-run RC car. Whether you're a seasoned competitor, a weekend basher, or someone just discovering the world of RC hobby racing in the UK, upgrading your steering blocks with genuine Traxxas components is a smart investment that delivers noticeable improvements in handling and longevity.

Steering blocks are critical suspension components that connect your RC car's steering linkage to the suspension geometry, directly influencing how your vehicle responds to steering input and how well it maintains control during aggressive driving. Factory plastic steering blocks can wear, crack, or flex under the demands of high-speed running, especially when you're pushing your Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit to its limits on tarmac, loose dirt, or rough terrain. These Traxxas-engineered replacements address these limitations with billet-machined construction and superior materials, ensuring your RC truck maintains responsive steering and reliable performance lap after lap.

Available in eye-catching blue anodised finish, these steering blocks don't just perform better—they also dramatically improve the visual appeal of your RC car, giving your Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit a more premium, purposeful appearance that reflects the quality engineering underneath. For anyone serious about their RC hobby in the UK, whether competing in local events or simply enjoying weekend bashing sessions, genuine Traxxas upgrades like these steering blocks are the mark of a well-maintained, performance-focused vehicle.

Key Features

  • 6061-T6 Billet Aluminium Construction — Machined from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminium, these steering blocks combine exceptional strength with light weight, resisting the bending and cracking that can occur with plastic alternatives during hard cornering, jumps, and aggressive driving manoeuvres.
  • Blue Anodised Finish — The professional blue anodising not only protects the aluminium from corrosion and wear, but also gives your Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit a striking, custom appearance that looks far more professional than standard plastic components.
  • Larger 5x11mm Ball Bearings — These premium ball bearings are significantly larger than those found in many aftermarket options, reducing friction in the steering pivot points and ensuring silky-smooth, responsive steering feel even after extended use.
  • Four Precision Ball Bearings Included — The pack includes four high-quality 5x11mm ball bearings, providing everything you need for a complete steering block upgrade on your RC vehicle, with spares included for future maintenance.
  • Rubber Seals for Low Maintenance — Rubber seals are bonded to the ball bearings, protecting them from dirt, mud, and moisture whilst keeping lubrication inside where it belongs, making these steering blocks virtually maintenance-free even after rough off-road sessions.
  • Precision Machining for Perfect Fitment — Every steering block is precisely machined to Traxxas specifications, ensuring perfect bolt-on installation to your Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit without modification or adjustment.
  • Smooth Performance and Reduced Friction — The combination of larger bearings and precision engineering significantly reduces friction throughout the steering system, translating directly to faster response times, smoother handling, and less wear on your servo and linkage components.
  • Long Service Life — Aluminium construction combined with quality bearings means these steering blocks will outlast plastic alternatives by several seasons of regular RC car driving and bashing.
  • Factory OEM Quality — As genuine Traxxas components, these steering blocks meet the exact same quality standards and tolerances as components found on new factory vehicles, guaranteeing perfect compatibility and performance.

Technical Performance

These Traxxas steering blocks represent the pinnacle of steering system engineering for 1/10-scale Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit RC vehicles. Constructed from 6061-T6 aluminium—the same aerospace-grade material used in aircraft structures—the billet machining process creates components with superior stiffness compared to plastic alternatives. The four included 5x11mm ball bearings are engineered for minimal friction and maximum durability, with bore sizes and tolerances precisely matched to Traxxas specifications. The rubber seals bonded to each bearing create a complete seal against contamination whilst retaining factory-approved lubrication, ensuring consistent performance whether you're running on UK asphalt, tarmac, loose gravel, or muddy terrain. The larger bearing size compared to budget alternatives means less deflection under cornering loads, translating to more predictable steering geometry throughout the vehicle's suspension travel. When paired with a quality servo system (such as a digital servo with adequate torque), these steering blocks enable significantly faster steering response times and more precise vehicle control during competitive racing or casual bashing. The anodised finish provides a hard oxidised layer that protects the aluminium from the elements and from the electrolytic corrosion that can occur when dissimilar metals come into contact. Every detail has been engineered to work seamlessly with Traxxas' suspension geometry and linkage systems, ensuring that you achieve the full performance benefit of the upgrade. For RC enthusiasts running brushless motors and LiPo batteries—configurations that enable sustained full-throttle acceleration—these steering blocks are essential for maintaining control during the extreme acceleration and cornering speeds that modern RC cars can achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these Traxxas steering blocks fit my Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit? — Yes, these TRX3636A steering blocks are specifically engineered by Traxxas for fitment on Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit models. They are precision-machined to factory specifications and install with no modifications required—simply unbolt your existing steering blocks and install these as direct replacements using the same fasteners.
  • What is the advantage of upgrading from plastic steering blocks to aluminium? — Plastic steering blocks flex under load, especially during aggressive cornering or when landing jumps, which causes loss of steering precision and can eventually crack under stress. Aluminium blocks are far stiffer, maintaining consistent steering geometry throughout your suspension travel, resulting in more predictable handling and longer component life. The larger 5x11mm bearings included in this kit also provide smoother, lower-friction operation compared to standard plastic blocks.
  • Are these steering blocks suitable for both racing and casual bashing? — Absolutely. Whether you're competing in local RC racing events or simply enjoying high-speed bashing sessions on UK courses, these steering blocks are built for serious use. The upgraded construction actually reduces maintenance requirements compared to plastic alternatives, making them excellent for both competitive and recreational drivers.
  • Do I need to adjust my steering or suspension when installing these? — No. These steering blocks are engineered to match Traxxas specifications exactly, so they bolt directly into your vehicle without requiring any adjustment to steering geometry or suspension settings. You can install them with confidence that your vehicle will maintain its handling characteristics.
  • How do the rubber seals protect the bearings? — The rubber seals are bonded directly to the 5x11mm ball bearings and create a barrier against dirt, sand, and moisture entering the bearing races where they would cause friction and wear. This sealed design makes the steering blocks virtually maintenance-free—you don't need to regularly clean or re-lubricate them like you might with unsealed alternatives. They're perfect for RC drivers who want to spend more time running and less time maintaining.
  • Can these be used with aftermarket servo upgrades? — Yes, these steering blocks are fully compatible with any servo system fitted to Rustler, Stampede, or Bandit vehicles. In fact, when paired with a quality digital servo offering higher torque, these steering blocks will deliver noticeably sharper steering response and faster input reaction times.
  • What is the weight difference compared to plastic steering blocks? — Whilst aluminium is slightly heavier than plastic, the weight increase is minimal and is more than compensated for by the improved handling precision and reduced suspension deflection. The improved geometry rigidity actually makes your vehicle feel more responsive and easier to control, particularly during high-speed cornering.
  • Will these steering blocks improve my lap times? — Yes. By reducing steering slop and maintaining precise geometry through the suspension stroke, these upgraded blocks contribute to more consistent cornering speeds, faster turn-in response, and more predictable handling—all factors that can improve lap times in both racing and timed bashing sessions. The larger bearings also mean less friction, requiring less servo effort to steer, which can extend servo life and improve overall system reliability.
