Overview

The Traxxas Springs, shock, Long (natural finish) (GTS) (0.29 rate, White stripe) (TRX8153) are precision-engineered replacement shock springs designed specifically for use with the TRX-4 Long Arm Lift Kit. These are essential suspension components for any serious RC crawler or off-road enthusiast in the UK who demands responsive handling and reliable performance across varied terrain. Whether you're tackling rocky trails, navigating technical obstacles, or simply enjoying weekend bashing with your RC vehicle, quality shock springs are fundamental to maintaining control and absorbing impacts effectively.

As a UK RC hobbyist, you'll appreciate that Traxxas offers these springs in multiple rates to allow you to fine-tune your vehicle's suspension performance to match your specific driving style, vehicle weight configuration, and terrain type. The 0.29 rate specification on these springs makes them suitable for particular suspension setups and load conditions, providing the responsive control needed for small bumps whilst maintaining structural integrity during harder impacts. These are genuine Traxxas parts, manufactured to the exacting standards you'd expect from one of the world's leading RC brands, and they're available right here at RC Model Shop with fast UK delivery.

Upgrading your shock springs or replacing worn components is one of the most cost-effective ways to maintain peak suspension performance on your RC crawler. The natural finish on these springs protects against corrosion whilst the distinctive white stripe helps you quickly identify the spring rate at a glance, which is invaluable when you're managing multiple suspension setups or troubleshooting performance issues on the track or trail.

Key Features

  • 0.29 Spring Rate — This medium-rate specification is calibrated to provide a balanced suspension response, offering responsive control over small terrain irregularities whilst progressively stiffening to handle more substantial impacts and rough riding conditions without bottoming out.
  • GTS Progressive Spring Technology — Traxxas GTS springs are custom-wound using progressive-rate engineering, which means the spring stiffness increases gradually as compression increases, delivering superior control across the full range of suspension travel and adapting to varying impact forces.
  • 139 mm GTR Shock Compatibility — These springs are specifically engineered to fit 139 mm GTR shock bodies, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance when used with the TRX-4 Long Arm Lift Kit, a popular upgrade for TRX-4 enthusiasts seeking increased ground clearance and improved suspension geometry.
  • Natural Finish Construction — The natural metal finish provides corrosion resistance and durability in outdoor RC driving conditions, protecting the springs from rust and oxidation whilst maintaining their performance characteristics over extended use.
  • White Stripe Identification — The white stripe marking is Traxxas's colour-coding system for spring rates, allowing you to instantly identify the 0.29 rate specification and manage multiple spring sets if you're running different configurations for various driving scenarios.
  • Sold in Pairs — These springs come as a matched pair, ensuring consistent suspension behaviour across both shock units on your RC vehicle and maintaining balanced handling characteristics essential for predictable control during competitive or recreational driving.
  • Genuine Traxxas Quality — Manufactured to Traxxas's renowned quality standards, these springs undergo rigorous testing to ensure they deliver consistent performance, longevity, and reliability that aftermarket alternatives simply cannot match.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas TRX8153 springs represent precision suspension engineering designed specifically for the demands of off-road RC crawlers and trail vehicles. The 0.29 spring rate positions these springs in Traxxas's lineup as a medium-compliance option, suitable for vehicles with standard weight configurations or drivers preferring responsive handling characteristics over maximum compliance. The progressive-rate design is particularly clever: unlike traditional linear springs that compress at a uniform rate, these GTS springs feature custom winding that increases stiffness as the spring compresses, meaning they feel softer and more responsive over small bumps but progressively stiffer over larger impacts. This engineering approach delivers the best of both worlds—comfort and control. The 139 mm length specification matches perfectly with GTR shock bodies commonly found on TRX-4 platforms, particularly when upgraded with the Long Arm Lift Kit, which increases suspension travel and ride height. The natural metal finish resists corrosion in outdoor environments, which is crucial for UK RC enthusiasts who frequently drive in damp conditions or muddy terrain. These springs are manufactured as a matched pair, ensuring consistent spring rates across both front and rear shock units (or whichever dual-shock configuration your vehicle uses), maintaining balanced suspension behaviour and preventing the handling inconsistencies that occur when springs of different rates are mixed.

What's in the Box

  • Traxxas Springs, shock, long (0.29 rate) (2 springs) — One matched pair of GTS progressive-rate springs with natural finish and white stripe identification marking

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between GTS springs and standard springs for RC vehicles? — GTS springs use Traxxas's progressive-rate technology, where the spring stiffness increases as compression increases. This is superior to traditional linear springs because it provides responsive control over small bumps whilst progressively stiffening to handle harder impacts, delivering balanced performance across varying terrain and impact forces.
  • Will these springs fit my TRX-4 Long Arm Lift Kit? — Yes, these TRX8153 springs are specifically designed for use with the TRX-4 Long Arm Lift Kit and are compatible with 139 mm GTR shock bodies. Always verify your shock body length before ordering, as using incorrect spring lengths can compromise suspension performance and vehicle safety.
  • What does the 0.29 rate mean and how does it affect my RC vehicle's handling? — The 0.29 rate indicates this is a medium-compliance spring in Traxxas's lineup. Higher rates make springs firmer (better for heavier vehicles or firmer handling), whilst lower rates make springs softer (better for lighter vehicles or plusher handling). The 0.29 rate provides balanced responsiveness suitable for standard-weight TRX-4 configurations and drivers preferring responsive but controlled suspension behaviour.
  • Do I need to buy springs in pairs? — Yes, these springs are sold as a matched pair, which is essential for proper suspension balance. Using springs of different rates on the same vehicle causes handling inconsistencies and unpredictable behaviour. Always replace springs in pairs to maintain consistent suspension performance across all shock units.
  • How do I identify which spring rate I currently have on my RC car? — Traxxas uses colour-coded stripe markings on their springs for quick identification. This TRX8153 features a white stripe indicating the 0.29 rate. If you have multiple spring sets, checking these stripe markings helps you quickly identify rates and manage different suspension setups without confusion.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, all Traxxas parts sold at RC Model Shop are genuine original components manufactured by Traxxas to their exacting quality standards. Genuine parts ensure perfect fitment, consistent performance, and reliability that aftermarket alternatives cannot guarantee.
  • What is the natural finish and why does it matter? — The natural metal finish is a protective coating that resists corrosion and rust, particularly important for RC vehicles driven in outdoor UK conditions where moisture and muddy terrain are common. This finish helps the springs maintain their performance characteristics and longevity over extended use.
  • Can I use these springs on vehicles other than the TRX-4? — These springs are specifically engineered for 139 mm GTR shock bodies used on TRX-4 platforms with the Long Arm Lift Kit. Using these springs on incompatible vehicles may result in incorrect fitment and poor suspension performance. Always verify compatibility with your specific vehicle and shock body length before purchasing.
