Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock, White (GTR XX-Long) (0.711 rate Orange) (1 pair) TRX7442 is an essential suspension tuning component for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand precision performance from their 1/10 scale vehicles. These high-quality shock springs are specifically engineered for XX-long GTR shock absorbers, making them ideal for anyone looking to fine-tune their RC car UK setup. Whether you're a competitive racer or a weekend basher, having the right spring rate is crucial to achieving optimal handling characteristics and suspension responsiveness on any terrain.

Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to improve your RC model's performance without expensive upgrades. The GTR spring system offers multiple rate options, allowing drivers to compensate for different vehicle weights, track conditions, and driving styles. This particular set features a 0.711 rate orange stripe specification, giving you the precise tuning flexibility needed to dial in your ready to run RC car or custom build to perfection. With genuine Traxxas engineering and materials, these springs deliver consistent, reliable performance lap after lap.

These springs are compatible with popular Traxxas models including the Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 brushless truck and the Slash Ultimate 4x4 VXL brushless short course truck, making them an excellent choice for owners of these high-performance 1/10 scale RC vehicles. Upgrading or replacing worn suspension components is a smart investment for anyone serious about RC performance, and choosing genuine Traxxas parts ensures authenticity and compatibility with your existing setup.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — These shock springs are manufactured from premium spring steel that maintains consistent performance over thousands of compression cycles, ensuring reliable handling characteristics throughout the life of the component and resisting fatigue or sagging that can occur with inferior materials.
  • Durable White Powder-Coated Finish — The protective white powder coating not only gives these springs a professional appearance but also provides corrosion resistance, protecting the steel underneath from moisture and dirt exposure during outdoor RC racing and recreational driving sessions.
  • XX-Long GTR Shock Compatibility — Specifically designed for use with XX-long GTR shock absorbers, these springs are engineered to fit perfectly within the shock body and provide the correct suspension geometry and travel for optimal performance across a wide range of driving conditions and track surfaces.
  • 0.711 Rate Orange Stripe Specification — The orange stripe designation indicates this spring's rate, allowing you to easily identify and manage multiple spring rates within your RC collection and enabling quick suspension adjustments when switching between tracks or weather conditions.
  • Sold as a Pair — This package includes one pair of springs (two springs total), providing front or rear suspension coverage for your RC model and ensuring matched rate characteristics across both sides of your vehicle for balanced, predictable handling.
  • Tuning Flexibility for Different Configurations — The modular GTR spring system is available in multiple rates, allowing you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, whether you've added battery capacity, upgraded motors, or modified your chassis weight for specific racing conditions.
  • Spring Rate Performance Principle — The higher the spring rate number, the stiffer the spring, meaning a 0.711 rate spring provides a specific level of stiffness calibrated for particular weight and driving characteristics, giving you a baseline for understanding how this spring will perform compared to softer or stiffer alternatives.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas GTR XX-Long shock springs represent the pinnacle of suspension component engineering for 1/10 scale RC vehicles. Manufactured from high-grade spring steel that has been precisely wound to exact specifications, these springs deliver consistent compression and extension forces that translate directly into improved handling and control. The 0.711 rate specification sits in the medium range of the GTR spring lineup, making these springs versatile enough for a wide variety of driving styles and track conditions whilst still offering meaningful tuning benefits over stock springs. The white powder-coated finish not only provides corrosion protection but also makes these springs instantly recognisable in your spares box, particularly important when maintaining multiple spring rates. The XX-long design ensures compatibility with modern long-travel GTR shock absorbers found on contemporary Traxxas brushless RC vehicles, and the pair configuration means you have all the springs needed for front or rear suspension adjustment. Spring rate selection is critical to RC performance—softer springs provide better compliance over rough terrain and improve traction, whilst stiffer springs reduce body roll and improve cornering precision. Understanding your current spring rate and how to adjust it forms a fundamental part of RC tuning knowledge that separates casual drivers from serious competitors.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What vehicles are these Traxxas GTR XX-Long shock springs compatible with? — These springs are specifically designed for 1/10 scale models using XX-long GTR shock absorbers. Compatible vehicles include the Traxxas Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 brushless truck (both blue and green variants) and the Traxxas Slash Ultimate 4x4 VXL brushless short course truck in orange. Always verify your shock type before purchasing to ensure compatibility with your specific RC model.
  • What does the 0.711 rate and orange stripe mean? — The 0.711 rate specification indicates the spring's stiffness level, with higher numbers representing stiffer springs. The orange stripe is a colour-coded identification system that makes it easy to quickly identify which rate springs you're using, particularly important when managing multiple spring rates in your RC spares collection. This allows you to match springs during maintenance and make informed tuning decisions.
  • How do I know if I need to change my spring rate? — Spring rate selection depends on your vehicle weight, driving style, and track conditions. If your suspension feels too soft and your chassis leans excessively in corners, you may need a stiffer spring. Conversely, if the suspension feels too harsh and your tyres aren't gripping well, a softer spring might improve performance. Traxxas offers springs in different rates to let you fine-tune these characteristics without expensive component upgrades.
  • Why is spring rate important for RC suspension setup? — Spring rate directly affects how your vehicle handles on different terrains and track conditions. The correct spring rate ensures optimal tyre contact with the ground, reduces unwanted body roll during cornering, and improves overall stability and predictability. Getting your suspension tuned properly can make a dramatic difference to your lap times and driving experience, making spring upgrades one of the best value tuning investments for any RC enthusiast.
  • Are these springs suitable for both racing and recreational bashing? — Yes, GTR shock springs work equally well for competitive racing and casual weekend bashing. The XX-long design provides excellent compliance over rough terrain, making these springs popular across multiple Traxxas brushless RC vehicle platforms. Whether you're at a racing facility or bashing in your local park, proper spring selection contributes to better handling and more enjoyable driving.
  • What's the difference between XX-Long, Long, and Standard GTR shocks? — GTR shocks are available in different lengths to accommodate different vehicle designs and suspension geometries. XX-Long shocks are specifically engineered for models that require maximum suspension travel and travel length, offering improved comfort over large obstacles and better weight transfer during acceleration and braking. Always use springs designed for your specific shock length to ensure proper suspension performance and component longevity.
