Key Features
- Built-in Data Logging Function — The XR10 Pro G3 features an advanced internal data recording module capable of storing up to 19 groups of 20-minute data sessions, totalling 380 minutes of comprehensive operation data, eliminating the need to keep an external OTA Bluetooth module connected during racing runs.
- Comprehensive Performance Data Tracking — Recorded data includes throttle input, voltage, current draw, ESC temperature, motor RPM, vehicle speed and other critical operational parameters that can be reviewed as curve graphs through the companion app after each session.
- Freewheeling Function with Lower Operating Temperature — This advanced deceleration mode reduces ESC operating temperature by a theoretical margin compared to the previous G2S generation, improving overall consistency and reliability, particularly beneficial under sustained high-load racing applications where temperature management is critical.
- Innovative Disc Brake Mode with Linear Feedback — Using closed-loop brake control technology, this feature creates a completely linear brake output across all speeds, solving the traditional problem of non-linear braking force that varies with vehicle speed, and includes customisable brake force curvature for fine-tuning the brake bias feel.
- Durable Frameless Fan Design — The frameless fan features special rigid materials that significantly increase durability compared to traditional PBT frame fans, protecting against damage from track debris, small stones and sand that commonly affect framed cooling systems.
- Smart Fan Start-Stop Function — The cooling fan automatically remains off when unnecessary and activates only when ESC temperature rises, keeping the unit within optimal operating range whilst reducing power consumption and operating noise during lower-demand racing situations.
- Dual Parameter Setting Modes — Choose between 24 basic parameters for simplified tuning or unlock all 44 advanced parameters for complete ESC customisation, allowing both casual racers and competitive tuners to optimise the ESC to their exact driving style and vehicle setup.
- Extensive Programmable Parameter Library — Over 44 individually adjustable settings include throttle and brake curvature, freewheeling control, disc brake configuration, drag brake force and frequency, boost timing, turbo timing, motor pole count, gear ratio and tyre diameter adjustments.
- Optimised Low Centre of Gravity Design — The ESC fan assembly is engineered 2mm lower than the previous G2S generation, effectively reducing vehicle centre of gravity for improved handling balance, with a fully detachable fan assembly option to further reduce height when cooling is not required.
- Optimised Cable Configuration for Racing Layouts — The wiring layout is specifically designed for both on-road and off-road RC racing applications, with included U-type connectors that accommodate various wiring requirements including flat and diagonal soldering configurations.
- Built-in Reverse Polarity Protection — The standard G3 version includes a reverse connection protection circuit that effectively prevents ESC damage from accidental battery polarity reversal, providing essential safeguards against user error during setup.
- Integrated High-Performance BEC — An adjustable built-in Battery Elimination Circuit provides continuous 10A peak output current with voltage adjustment ranging from 5.0V to 7.4V in 0.1V increments, fully supporting high-torque and high-voltage servo requirements without additional power modules.
- OTA and LCD Programming Support — The ESC is fully compatible with Hobbywing's OTA Programmer and LCD Program Box Pro, enabling wireless configuration and real-time telemetry viewing through smartphone apps for convenient track-side adjustments.
- 150mm Wire Length Switch — This replacement switch provides ample wire length for integration into various RC car chassis designs, making it compatible with different vehicle layouts and installation preferences.
Technical Performance
The Hobbywing XeRun XR10 Pro G3 represents a significant advancement in 1/10th scale ESC technology for UK RC racing. Built around a continuous current rating of 160A with peak capability reaching 1200A, this brushless sensored ESC delivers the power density required for competitive modified class racing. The unit measures 41.0 x 33.6 x 30.3mm (terminal board extends 6.0mm) and weighs 93 grams complete with wiring, making it compact enough for tight 1/10th scale racing chassis whilst maintaining exceptional power handling characteristics. The ESC operates on 2S LiPo battery voltage exclusively, matching the standard racing specification across touring cars, buggies, drift cars, F1-style vehicles and rally competitors. Input and output are hardwired without connectors, using quality black 13AWG wiring at 200mm length for both battery inputs and motor outputs. The frameless cooling fan measures 25 x 25 x 10mm and draws power directly from the ESC's internal BEC, which provides adjustable voltage output between 5.0V and 7.4V at up to 6A continuous for servo powering. Temperature management is critical in competitive racing, and this generation's freewheeling function combines RPM decrease rate control with intelligent fan operation to maintain optimal thermal conditions during extended racing sessions. The dual sensored and sensorless brushless motor compatibility means you can utilise either XERUN V10 G4R and G3 motors or Bandit G4 powerplants, providing flexibility across different racing classes and technical regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Hobbywing XeRun XR10 Pro G3 suitable for beginners or only for experienced racers? — Whilst the G3 offers extensive professional-level tuning capabilities, its dual parameter mode makes it accessible to beginners through simplified 24-parameter basic mode. The built-in data logging and real-time telemetry features help new racers learn and improve their driving technique, making it suitable for anyone serious about RC racing in the UK.
- What battery does this ESC require and how do I programme it? — The XR10 Pro G3 operates exclusively on 2S LiPo batteries, the standard specification for modified class 1/10th racing. Programming is accomplished through either the OTA Programmer (wireless via Bluetooth at 0-5m range) or the LCD Program Box Pro connected via the dedicated program port, with firmware upgrades fully supported.
- Can I use this switch with my existing XR10 Stock ESC? — Yes, this replacement external power switch is fully compatible with XR10 Stock Spec ESCs and all G2 or newer variants, making it ideal as a replacement or spare component for active racing setups.
- What makes the disc brake mode better than traditional braking? — Traditional ESC braking systems create non-linear braking force that varies with vehicle speed, causing inconsistent deceleration behaviour. The G3's closed-loop disc brake mode delivers completely linear brake output at all speeds, giving you predictable, controllable braking performance essential for competitive racing, with additional curvature adjustment for personal preference tuning.
- How does the data logging feature benefit my racing? — The onboard data recorder stores 380 minutes of racing data across 19 sessions without requiring external Bluetooth modules during operation. After each race, you review throttle, current, temperature, RPM and speed data as curve graphs via the app, identifying performance patterns and optimising your tuning and driving technique based on actual track conditions.
- What is the difference between the G3 and G3X versions? — The standard G3 (black) includes reverse voltage protection, 13AWG wiring and full data logging capabilities. The G3X (titanium grey) features upgraded 12AWG wiring for slightly lower resistance, but omits reverse polarity protection and historical graph data storage, targeting weight-conscious competitors.
- Does this ESC work with sensorless brushless motors? — Yes, the XR10 Pro G3 supports both sensored and sensorless brushless motor operation, with programmable sensor mode settings, allowing you to choose the optimal motor type for your specific racing application and vehicle setup.
