Overview

The Corally 64 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 25 Teeth Shaft Dia. 3.17mm (Model C-71325) is a precision-engineered motor pinion gear designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and performance from their RC cars and vehicles. Whether you're building a competition-grade RC buggy, setting up a high-performance RC off-road racer, or fine-tuning an existing RC car setup in the UK, this pinion gear represents a crucial component in your drivetrain. Corally has established itself as a trusted manufacturer of quality RC components, and this hardened steel pinion exemplifies their commitment to durability and precise manufacturing standards that competitive RC drivers rely upon.

This 25-tooth pinion gear is part of Corally's comprehensive range of 64 diametral pitch (64DP) gears, which are widely used across modern RC car platforms and racing applications. The short-length design ensures compatibility with standard motor shafts whilst maintaining the robust construction necessary for high-speed driving and demanding racing conditions. Whether you're preparing your RC car for track racing, bashing sessions, or serious competition, having the correct pinion gear teeth count is absolutely essential for achieving optimal performance, proper gear meshing, and ensuring longevity of your entire drivetrain system.

Available in stock at RC Model Shop, this genuine Corally component offers UK-based RC enthusiasts immediate access to authentic factory-spec parts without waiting for international shipping. The hardened steel construction ensures this pinion will withstand the intense forces generated during acceleration, cornering and high-speed driving that competitive RC car usage demands. With multiple tooth counts available in the same series (ranging from 17 to 40 teeth), Corally's modular gear system allows you to fine-tune your RC car's gearing ratios to match your specific track conditions, driving style, and performance objectives.

Key Features

  • Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion teeth are manufactured from hardened steel, which provides superior wear resistance and longevity compared to softer materials, ensuring your RC car's drivetrain remains reliable through countless hours of driving and competition use.
  • 64 DP Specification — The 64 diametral pitch rating ensures this pinion is compatible with the vast majority of modern RC car motor shafts and spur gear systems found in contemporary RC vehicles across the UK and worldwide.
  • 25-Tooth Configuration — The 25-tooth count provides a specific gear ratio that suits a wide range of RC driving applications and track conditions, offering an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed for many RC car setups.
  • 3.17mm Shaft Diameter — The precisely-machined 3.17mm (1/8 inch) shaft diameter ensures perfect fit with standard RC motor shafts, guaranteeing secure mounting and reliable power transmission without slippage or wobble.
  • Short-Length Design — The short-length profile minimises weight whilst maintaining structural integrity, keeping your RC car's unsprung weight low for improved handling and suspension responsiveness during dynamic driving.
  • Precision Manufacturing — Each pinion is manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth mesh with your spur gear, quiet operation, and predictable performance characteristics that serious RC racers depend upon.
  • Modular System Compatibility — As part of Corally's comprehensive 64DP pinion range (17-40 teeth available), you can easily swap this gear for different tooth counts to optimise your RC car's performance for specific tracks or driving styles.
  • Factory-Authorised Quality — This is a genuine Corally component manufactured to the exacting standards required for competition-grade RC vehicles, not an aftermarket copy or inferior substitute.

Technical Performance

The Corally 64 DP Pinion represents the engineering standards expected in modern RC car racing and high-performance driving applications throughout the UK and internationally. The hardened steel material undergoes specialised heat-treatment processes that increase surface hardness and resistance to the wear, stress and deformation that occurs during normal operation of RC vehicles. The 25-tooth configuration sits in the middle range of Corally's modular system, making it suitable for a variety of RC car types including off-road buggies, touring cars, and specialist racing platforms where balanced gearing is required. The 3.17mm shaft diameter represents the industry-standard motor shaft size for contemporary RC cars, ensuring this pinion will integrate seamlessly into your existing drivetrain without requiring adapters or modifications. The short-length profile is optimised for minimal rotating mass, which helps your RC car's motor deliver its maximum performance potential without unnecessary inertia. The precision-cut teeth profile ensures smooth, quiet operation when properly meshed with a compatible spur gear, reducing noise and vibration that can affect handling predictability and driver confidence during competitive racing or aggressive bashing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Corally 64 DP Pinion suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement component part rather than a complete RC system, so it's best suited to hobbyists who already own an RC car and understand drivetrain components. Beginners should consider purchasing a complete ready-to-run RC car package first, then upgrade individual components like this pinion as they gain experience and understanding of RC vehicle performance tuning.
  • What RC cars use 64DP pinion gears? — The 64 diametral pitch specification is used across a wide range of modern RC vehicles including 1/10 scale touring cars, off-road buggies, and various racing platforms. Check your specific RC car's manual or specifications to confirm compatibility, as the motor shaft diameter (3.17mm) and spur gear pitch must match.
  • How do I choose the right pinion tooth count for my RC car? — The tooth count directly affects your RC car's gear ratio and performance characteristics. Lower tooth counts (17-20) provide more acceleration but lower top speed; higher tooth counts (30+) offer higher top speed but slower acceleration. The 25-tooth option offers a balanced middle ground suitable for mixed driving conditions. Experiment with different tooth counts available in the Corally range to find the perfect setup for your specific track or driving style.
  • Can I use this pinion on any RC car in the UK? — Not all RC cars use 64DP gearing systems. You must verify that your RC vehicle uses 64DP pinions and has a 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. Check your vehicle's documentation, contact the manufacturer, or visit an RC Model Shop advisor for compatibility confirmation before purchasing.
  • How does hardened steel pinion compare to standard steel? — Hardened steel undergoes heat treatment to increase surface hardness, providing significantly better wear resistance and durability during extended use. For competitive RC racing and serious driving applications, hardened steel pinions outlast standard steel alternatives and maintain their precision characteristics far longer.
  • Will this pinion work with my current drivetrain? — As long as your RC car uses a 64DP motor pinion system with a 3.17mm motor shaft, this Corally pinion will integrate directly without any additional adapters or modifications. Verify the specifications of your current pinion or contact RC Model Shop for compatibility advice specific to your RC vehicle.
