Technical Performance
The SkyWalker 2826SL 540KV is engineered to deliver 1,106.5 watts of continuous power output at maximum continuous current of 49.7 amps over a 1-minute duration, with a no-load current of just 1.58 amps at 22.2V—figures that demonstrate exceptional electrical efficiency. The motor's 540KV rating, combined with its 12N14P slot-pole configuration, creates an ideal power band for 6S LiPo systems, allowing you to use 12x6E, 13x6.5E, or 14x6E propellers depending on your aircraft's weight and intended flight characteristics. The internal resistance of just 43.9 milliohms is remarkably low, reducing resistive heating and allowing higher sustained power delivery compared to less efficient motors. Physically, the motor measures 35.1mm in diameter by 66mm in length, with a total weight of 175.5 grams—compact enough for lightweight designs yet substantial enough for serious power delivery. The 5mm hardened steel shaft is supported by precision 685ZZ ball bearings (11mm outer diameter, 5mm inner diameter, 5mm width), ensuring smooth, reliable rotation even under continuous high-load conditions. All power connections use 16AWG silicone cable with a 110mm length, providing excellent flexibility for installation whilst maintaining low resistance. The motor is designed to work seamlessly with the Hobbywing Skywalker 80A ESC, one of the most popular brushless speed controllers for fixed-wing applications in the UK RC market. The precision-engineered mounting provides 15mm diameter propeller mounting holes with three M2.5 threads, whilst the motor base features either 19mm or 25mm diameter mounting holes with M3 threads, allowing integration with virtually any modern RC aircraft frame. For those flying in the UK's variable weather conditions, the robust construction with sealed bearings and quality materials ensures reliable operation across temperature ranges from cold autumn flying to warm summer conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What aircraft weight range is this motor suitable for? — The SkyWalker 2826SL is specifically designed for fixed-wing aircraft in the 800-2300g weight range, including 3D aerobatic models, sport fixed-wing aircraft, and high-performance gliders. The maximum thrust of 4,785 grams makes it ideal for rapid climbs, aggressive maneuvers, and maintaining control with heavier builds.
- What battery does this motor require? — This motor is rated for 6S LiPo batteries only, which provide a nominal voltage of 22.2V. Using 3S or 4S batteries will significantly under-power the motor and will not produce the rated performance. Always use a 6S LiPo battery from a quality manufacturer, and ensure your battery charger is rated for 6S charging.
- Which propellers work best with the SkyWalker 2826SL 540KV? — Hobbywing recommends three propeller options: 12x6E, 13x6.5E, or 14x6E, each suited to different aircraft weights and flying styles. The 14x6E delivers maximum thrust but requires more current, whilst smaller propellers are more efficient for lighter aircraft and longer flight times. Always verify propeller compatibility with your airframe designer's recommendations.
- Can I use this motor with other ESCs? — Whilst the motor can technically work with other quality brushless ESCs rated for 80+ amps on 6S systems, Hobbywing specifically designed and tested the SkyWalker 2826SL with the Skywalker 80A ESC. Using the recommended combination ensures optimal performance, reliability, and access to Hobbywing's full technical support in the UK.
- How hot does this motor get during use? — Thanks to the advanced cooling architecture featuring the large hollow design and self-dissipating top cover structure, the SkyWalker 2826SL runs significantly cooler than conventional motors. Under normal flying conditions with proper propeller matching, the motor remains within safe operating temperatures. Excessive heat indicates either wrong propeller selection or an ESC issue requiring investigation.
