Overview
The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 9000cSt (AS5449) is a premium high-viscosity silicone differential oil engineered specifically for RC car enthusiasts and hobbyists across the UK who demand precision tuning and consistent performance. Whether you're maintaining a Team Associated competition buggy, tuning your RC model for optimal differential action, or simply servicing your RC car's drivetrain, this genuine Team Associated consumable delivers the reliability and performance you need. The 9000cSt rating represents a thicker viscosity option, making it ideal for setups requiring more resistance and control through the differential, allowing you to fine-tune your RC model's handling characteristics with confidence.
As an official Team Associated part, this diff fluid is manufactured to exacting standards and provides a straightforward way to tailor your differential setup within a known viscosity range. Whether you're a dedicated RC competitor, a weekend basher enjoying your RC hobby, or someone new to the world of RC cars, having the correct differential fluid is essential for maintaining smooth, predictable performance. This high-viscosity silicone formulation is suitable for routine diff servicing and comprehensive setup adjustments, making it an indispensable consumable for any serious RC model enthusiast in the UK.
Differential fluid is one of the most underestimated yet crucial elements of RC car maintenance and tuning. The 9000cSt viscosity provides a thicker barrier between differential gears, which affects how freely or restrictively the differential allows power distribution between wheels. This thickness rating is particularly valuable for drivers seeking more predictable turning characteristics and reduced wheel spin, especially in competition or performance-focused setups. By choosing the correct viscosity for your specific RC model and driving style, you can dramatically improve your vehicle's handling, traction control, and overall on-track performance.
Key Features
- 9000cSt Silicone Formula — This high-viscosity silicone differential oil provides a thicker viscosity rating, offering increased resistance and control through your RC model's differential system, which is essential for drivers who need more predictable turning and reduced wheel spin during acceleration and cornering.

- Precision Tuning Capability — The 9000cSt rating enables detailed differential setup adjustments, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's handling characteristics and tailor the differential behaviour to match your driving style, track conditions, and competition requirements.
- Routine Servicing Solution — Designed for both regular maintenance servicing and comprehensive setup adjustments, this diff fluid makes it straightforward to keep your RC model's differential running smoothly and performing at its best throughout the season.
- Established Viscosity Standard — The cSt (centistoke) rating system is the recognised industry standard for silicone diff fluids, making this 9000cSt option easily comparable with other diff fluids and allowing informed decisions when selecting the right viscosity for your specific RC model and driving needs.
- High-Quality Silicone Base — Silicone-based differential fluids offer excellent thermal stability, consistent viscosity performance across temperature ranges, and superior protection for differential gears compared to alternative formulations, making them the preferred choice among serious RC enthusiasts.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 9000cSt represents professional-grade differential lubrication engineered to meet the demanding requirements of RC car competition and serious hobbyists. The 9000cSt viscosity rating places this fluid in the higher-viscosity category, making it suitable for setups requiring greater differential resistance and control. Silicone-based differential fluids like this are recognised for their superior performance characteristics compared to traditional mineral oils, offering improved thermal stability which ensures consistent viscosity performance even during extended driving sessions or in varying ambient temperatures. The high-viscosity formulation affects how the differential distributes power between the wheels, directly influencing your RC model's turning radius, acceleration characteristics, and overall handling balance. This is particularly important in competitive RC racing environments where precision tuning can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The 9000cSt rating works particularly well in setups where drivers seek reduced wheel spin during acceleration, more predictable cornering behaviour, and improved traction control through technical sections. Team Associated's manufacturing expertise ensures this fluid meets strict quality standards, providing reliable performance and protection for differential gears, bearings, and internal components. Whether you're running a lightweight 1/10 scale RC buggy, a touring car, or any Team Associated RC model that requires differential servicing, this 9000cSt formulation delivers the performance characteristics serious enthusiasts demand. Regular use of the correct differential fluid viscosity is essential for maintaining optimal drivetrain performance, extending component lifespan, and preserving your RC model's handling precision throughout the season.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is differential fluid and why is it important for my RC car? — Differential fluid is a lubricant that goes inside your RC model's differential, which is the component that distributes engine power between the left and right wheels. The viscosity (thickness) of the fluid directly affects how freely or restrictively the differential allows this power distribution, which controls wheel spin, turning characteristics, and traction. Using the correct viscosity for your specific RC model, track conditions, and driving style is crucial for optimal handling and performance.
- What does 9000cSt mean and is this the right viscosity for my RC model? — cSt stands for centistokes, which is the standard measurement unit for fluid viscosity in the RC hobby. 9000cSt represents a relatively thick or high-viscosity fluid, suitable for setups requiring more differential resistance and control. Whether this is the right choice depends on your specific RC model, driving style, and track conditions. Always consult your RC model's manual for the manufacturer's recommended viscosity range, as different models and setups may benefit from different viscosities.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this diff fluid is suitable for RC enthusiasts at any experience level, from beginners learning basic maintenance to seasoned competitors. However, beginners should start by checking their RC model's instruction manual to determine the correct viscosity for their specific vehicle. Once you understand which viscosity your model requires, using genuine Team Associated diff fluid like this ensures reliable performance and proper maintenance of your RC car's differential system.
- How often should I change my differential fluid? — The recommended servicing interval depends on your specific RC model and how frequently you use it. Most manufacturers recommend checking and potentially refreshing differential fluid every few months of regular use, or more frequently if you race competitively. Heavy use, dusty conditions, or water exposure may necessitate more frequent servicing. Always refer to your RC model's instruction manual for specific guidance on servicing intervals and maintenance schedules.
- Can I use this 9000cSt fluid in any Team Associated RC model? — While this is a genuine Team Associated product, not all Team Associated models require the same differential fluid viscosity. Different models and setups may benefit from different viscosities ranging from thinner (lower cSt numbers) to thicker (higher cSt numbers). Always consult your specific RC model's manual to identify the recommended viscosity before purchasing, as using the wrong viscosity can negatively impact handling and performance.
- What is the difference between silicone and mineral-based differential fluids? — Silicone-based differential fluids, like this Team Associated product, offer superior thermal stability and consistent viscosity performance across a wider temperature range compared to traditional mineral-based oils. Silicone fluids are the preferred choice among serious RC enthusiasts and competitors because they maintain their viscosity characteristics more reliably during extended driving sessions and in varying ambient temperatures, resulting in more predictable and consistent handling performance.
- Is Team Associated differential fluid better than generic off-brand options? — Genuine Team Associated consumables like this diff fluid are manufactured to exacting quality standards and are specifically formulated for optimal performance in Team Associated RC models. Using genuine manufacturer products ensures you're getting a fluid engineered to work perfectly with your model's differential system, providing reliable performance, proper component protection, and the consistency competitive drivers demand. Generic or off-brand fluids may not meet these precise specifications.
