Overview
The Etronix Servo/ESC Tester 3-Modes (ET0053) is an essential bench tool for anyone serious about RC model setup and maintenance. Whether you're piloting an RC car in the UK, a drone, or any radio-controlled model that relies on servo control, this straightforward diagnostic device helps you verify servo response, centre components to neutral, and test maximum travel limits with ease. Designed for hobbyists and experienced modellers alike, this compact tester works with 1–3 servos or a single electronic speed controller, making it incredibly versatile across a range of RC applications.
This is not a flashy piece of equipment—it's a practical, no-nonsense tool that every RC enthusiast should have in their workshop. The dial-operated interface makes it intuitive to use, and the three distinct operating modes give you complete control over servo diagnostics and setup. From initial commissioning to routine maintenance checks, the Etronix Servo/ESC Tester delivers reliable performance at an affordable price point. If you're building a ready-to-run RC car, tuning a brushless motor installation, or troubleshooting servo behaviour before taking your model to the track, this tester provides the confidence that everything is working correctly.
RC enthusiasts across the UK rely on quality bench tools to keep their models running smoothly, and the Etronix tester has established itself as a trusted choice for fast, accurate diagnostics. Its simple operation means you don't need technical expertise to identify servo issues or verify electronic speed controller function—just plug in your component, select your mode, and observe the results.
Key Features
- Manual Mode — Use the dial to vary the servo signal output manually, allowing you to check reaction times and observe how your servo responds to different input positions. This hands-on control is invaluable for diagnosing sluggish servos or verifying smooth operation across the full range of motion.
- Neutral Mode — Reset your servo to its neutral point quickly and precisely without needing a transmitter or complex software. This feature is essential during initial setup, when swapping servos between models, or when recalibrating a centre point that has drifted.
- Automatic Mode — Engage a 'window wiper' sweep function that tests your servo's maximum throw automatically, cycling smoothly through the full range of travel so you can visualize the complete operating envelope at a glance.
- Multi-Component Compatibility — Test up to three servos simultaneously or check a single electronic speed controller, making this tester flexible enough for almost any RC setup whether you're working on a brushless RC car, a crawler, or a servo-driven control system.
- Compact Bench Design — This is a small, lightweight tool that takes up minimal space on your work bench or in your tool box, yet delivers the diagnostics of much larger equipment, making it perfect for both home workshops and competition pits.
- Simple Dial Interface — No complicated menus or software required; the straightforward dial control means you can start testing immediately without a learning curve, ideal for beginners and experienced modellers alike.
Technical Performance
The Etronix Servo/ESC Tester 3-Modes represents solid engineering in a compact format. This device is built to deliver reliable servo diagnostics across a wide range of RC applications, from small-scale brushless electric RC cars to larger models requiring multiple servo control. The three-mode operation—manual, neutral, and automatic—covers the most common testing scenarios you'll encounter during setup and troubleshooting. The dial-based manual mode gives you precise control over signal variation, allowing you to observe servo response at any point in its travel range. The neutral mode function is particularly useful for centring servos without powered transmitter equipment, which saves time during initial setup and when performing maintenance on your RC models. The automatic sweep mode simulates the 'window wiper' motion, providing a full-range test that typically completes a cycle in seconds, letting you quickly assess whether a servo has the full throw and smooth operation needed for proper model control. The tester accepts standard servo connectors and is compatible with most RC servo types and electronic speed controllers, though it is not compatible with JR connectors, so ensure your equipment uses standard connectors before purchase. The compact construction means you can easily store it with your other RC tools and take it to the track or field for quick checks before flying or driving. Power requirements are minimal, making this a practical addition to any RC enthusiast's toolkit.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Etronix Servo/ESC Tester suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The simple dial interface and three clearly defined modes make this tester very beginner-friendly. You don't need technical knowledge or software expertise to use it effectively; just plug in your servo or ESC, select your mode, and observe the results. It's an excellent first diagnostic tool for anyone new to RC modelling.
- Can I test multiple servos at once? — Yes, the tester is designed to work with 1–3 servos simultaneously, making it perfect for testing multi-servo setups like steering and throttle control systems without needing to disconnect and reconnect components between tests.
- What exactly does the automatic 'window wiper' mode do? — The automatic mode sweeps your servo through its complete range of motion in a smooth, repetitive cycle that resembles a windscreen wiper motion. This allows you to observe the servo's full travel limits and smoothness without manual intervention, making it ideal for quickly assessing whether a servo is functioning correctly across its entire operating range.
- Is this tester compatible with electronic speed controllers? — Yes, the Etronix Servo/ESC Tester 3-Modes works with electronic speed controllers as well as servos, making it a genuinely versatile diagnostic tool for checking ESC signal reception and responsiveness during your RC model setup.
- Why is the 'Not JR Compatible' designation important? — This tester uses standard servo connectors and is not compatible with JR-format connectors. If your servos or ESC use JR connectors, you'll need an adapter or equipment with standard connectors. Most modern RC equipment uses standard connectors, but it's important to verify your setup before purchasing.
- What would I use the manual mode for? — Manual mode lets you control the servo position via the dial, which is perfect for checking servo response times, observing how smoothly a servo tracks dial input, and identifying any lag, stuttering, or dead spots in the servo's operation. This is invaluable for troubleshooting servo problems.
- How does the neutral mode help during setup? — The neutral mode instantly centres your servo without needing a transmitter or computer software. This is crucial when first installing a servo in a model, swapping servos between vehicles, or when a servo's centre point has drifted and needs recalibration.
