Overview
The Team Associated FT Captured King Pins 28.2mm (AS6970) are precision-engineered steering components designed for Team Associated RC10 Classic and Factory Team models. These captured king pins represent a critical upgrade path for enthusiasts looking to improve their RC car's handling characteristics and steering responsiveness. Whether you're a dedicated RC racer in the UK or a serious hobbyist seeking to optimise your Team Associated buggy, these king pins deliver the kind of fine-tuned performance that separates competitive setups from standard configurations.
King pins are fundamental to your RC car's front-end geometry and steering performance. The 28.2mm length specification of these captured pins makes them ideally suited to a range of Team Associated platforms, ensuring compatibility with factory specifications whilst offering the reliability and precision that Factory Team components are renowned for. The captured design prevents pins from falling out during aggressive driving or maintenance, a feature that serious competitors and weekend bashers alike will appreciate when pushing their cars to the limit on UK tracks and terrain.
These are genuine Team Associated spare parts, not aftermarket substitutes. That means you're getting components engineered and tested by the same team that designs championship-winning RC cars. For RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand authentic spares and upgrades, the AS6970 king pins offer peace of mind alongside measurable performance gains in steering precision and durability.
Key Features
- Captured Design — The captured mechanism prevents king pins from becoming loose or falling out during high-intensity driving or transportation, which is especially valuable when you're running aggressive suspension setups or competing in racing events across the UK.
- Precision 28.2mm Length — This specific dimension is engineered to fit Team Associated RC10 platforms perfectly, maintaining correct front-end geometry and ensuring your steering response remains true and predictable through corners and across varied terrain.
- Factory Team Engineering — As genuine Team Associated components, these king pins are manufactured to the same exacting standards used in Factory Team competition vehicles, guaranteeing reliability and performance that matches your car's other factory components.
- Compatible with Multiple RC10 Variants — These pins work across a comprehensive range of Team Associated RC10 models including the RC10 Classic, RC10 40th Anniversary editions, RC10 Jay Halsey Edition, RC10 Team Car Gold Edition, RC10 Graphite Kit, RC10 Metallic Edition, RC10 4WD, RC10 Brian Kinwald Edition, RC10 '89 Stealth Car Masami Edition, and RC10 1991 Stealth Masami models, making them a versatile spare for collectors and competitors alike.

- Essential Maintenance Part — Whether replacing worn originals or building a spare parts kit, the AS6970 represents a fundamental steering component that every serious Team Associated owner should keep on hand for rapid repairs and maintenance between races.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT Captured King Pins 28.2mm represent precision mechanical engineering at its finest. King pins are the pivot points through which your RC car's steering blocks (or caster blocks) rotate, making them absolutely critical to steering geometry and handling characteristics. The 28.2mm length specification is engineered to work in harmony with Team Associated's front-end suspension design, maintaining correct castor and camber angles whilst ensuring smooth steering response. The captured design incorporates a mechanical retention system that locks the pin in place, preventing accidental removal during aggressive driving or routine maintenance work. This engineering detail is particularly valuable for competitive drivers who need absolute reliability and zero downtime caused by hardware failures. The material specification and manufacturing tolerances used in Factory Team components ensure that these pins maintain their geometric precision through thousands of kilometres of driving, whether you're running on groomed UK racing circuits, dusty outdoor tracks, or varied terrain. Unlike cheaper aftermarket alternatives, genuine Team Associated pins are manufactured to match the exact specifications of your car's original equipment, ensuring seamless integration with your existing suspension geometry and delivering the handling balance that your car was designed to achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Team Associated RC cars do the AS6970 king pins fit? — These 28.2mm captured king pins are compatible with the RC10 Classic 40th Anniversary, RC10 Jay Halsey Edition, RC10 40th Anniversary Green Edition, RC10 Team Car Gold Edition, RC10 Graphite Kit, RC10 Metallic Edition, RC10 4WD, RC10 Brian Kinwald Edition, RC10 '89 Stealth Car Masami Edition, and RC10 1991 Stealth Masami. Always verify your specific model's requirements before ordering, as different Team Associated platforms may use different king pin dimensions.
- What does a captured king pin do, and why does it matter? — King pins are the pivot points for your car's front steering blocks, directly controlling how your car responds to steering input and maintaining the correct angles for optimal handling. A captured design prevents the pin from working loose during driving, which is critical for maintaining consistent steering geometry and preventing hardware loss on the track. The AS6970 upgrade improves steering precision and reliability compared to standard pins.
- How often should I replace my king pins? — King pins should be inspected regularly, especially if you're an active racer in the UK. They typically last for many thousands of kilometres, but wear increases with aggressive driving on rough terrain. Signs of wear include sloppy steering response, play in the steering blocks, or difficulty keeping your car's steering geometry consistent. If you notice these symptoms, replacement is recommended to maintain peak handling performance.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, the AS6970 is an official Team Associated Factory Team component, not an aftermarket substitute. Genuine Factory Team spares ensure compatibility, reliability, and performance consistency with the rest of your setup. This is particularly important for competitive drivers who need absolute confidence in their hardware reliability.
- Do I need special tools to install the king pins? — Installation is straightforward and requires only basic RC maintenance tools. You'll need appropriate hex keys or screwdrivers to access your suspension components. If you're unfamiliar with suspension work, our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance or support.
- What's the difference between captured and standard king pins? — Captured king pins feature a mechanical retention system that locks the pin in place, preventing accidental removal. Standard pins rely on friction or cotter pins to stay in place, making them more prone to loosening during aggressive driving. The captured design is superior for competitive use and peace of mind.
